The objective of this study was to examine the lumbar spinal loads of Korean adults using Digital Korean Model (DKM). DKM is a computerized model to represent Korean Ethnics structures and functions in the virtual environment. The low back officially begins with the lumbar region of the human spinal structure. The lumbar vertebrae are most frequently involved in low back pain, which carries the most amount of body weight and are subject to the largest forces and stresses along the spine. DKM’s standard and variable postures were modeled in the virtual environment, standing and sitting posture cases were used in this study. The analyses of lumbar spinal loads were based on the single action and six different percentiles (5, 10, 25, 50, 75 and 95th ) were considered for the analyses. The study will be providing the guideline to know how much load Korean adults can carry without affecting their back, to know whether carrying load is within the limit and to know the effects on L4-L5 for a particular load, percentile and posture.
