This paper suggests the strategic transformation to enhance the competences of Korean distribution firms. Three environmental changes were described to explain the current situation of Korean distribution industry. These were globalization, information technology and chunges of costumer preference. Furthermore, the cases of strategic transformation were collected to show the overall trends of distribution industry. Strategic transformations of distribution firms were aimed to achieve economy of sale, specialization and localization. Finally, strategic alliance was suggested to enforce the competitiveness o f distribution firms.
