This paper is to understand the dwelling space of rural houses in the course of transformation with reference to the 'model houses'(recommended by government) compared to individually 'designed houses'(by farmers themselves)
The findings are as follows,
1) The space size of rural housing is increasing remarkably The size of 'designed houses' shows an average of 283 pyung(942㎡) while that of model houses shows an average of 17.9 pyung(596㎡)
2) The 'model houses' with rooms connected around MARU type has transformed into living room with entrance hall type of 'designed houses' type.
3) The residents' favorite kitchen type is proved to be L·DK, rather than LDK
4) The life style centered on AN -BANG is slowly changing into that of living-room-centered
5) The needs of second kitchens, utility rooms, and store houses is growing remarkably
