1950/60년대 ‘근대화’와 다산 호출

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고에서는 1950/60년대 및 그 이후 남 ? 북한에서 각각 출현했던 ‘두 개의 다산 호출’의 구체적 내용과 특징을, 특히 당시 ‘실학 담론의 지형’과 ‘다산 연구의 동향’을 중심으로 간략하게 소개하고 있다. 이러한 ‘두 개의 다산 호출’은 당시의 분단상황 하에서 남 ? 북한이 각자 지향했던바 ‘두 개의 근대화 기획’, 즉 ‘자본주의적 근대화 기획’과 ‘사회주의적 근대화 기획’이라는 시대적 과제와 조응하는 것이기도 하였다. 물론 이러한 ‘다산 호출’은 해방 이후, 보다 소급해서는 1930년대의 ‘조선학 운동’ 이래 조선후기 사회변동 및 사상사 연구에 있어 실로 중요하고도 다대한 성과로 구체화되었다. 그럼에도 동시에 남 ? 북한의 ‘다산 호출’은 공히 각 체제에 봉사하는 ‘관학적 성격’을 다분히 내포하는 가운데, 일련의 문제점 또한 공통적으로 노정하였던바, 즉 ① ‘서구 중심주의’, ② 실학에 대한 ‘본질론’의 관점이 가진 약점, ③ 실학의 구성적 타자로서 조선주자학을 지목하는 인식틀이 내포한 난점 등이 바로 그것이다. 끝으로 이를 토대로 ‘21세기의 다산 호출’, 즉 차후의 다산학 및 나아가 실학연구의 발전과 심화를 위해 요청되는 과제를 연구방법론의 측면에 유의하면서 몇 가지 단상을 제기해보았다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this paper, I roughly survey the past trends of Practical learning(實學) studies and Tasan(茶山) studies achieved in the 1950"s and the 1960"s of Korea, especially focusing on the contents and the features of "the two different understandings of Tasan Ch?ng Yag-yong(丁若鏞)" developed in the South and the North of Korea respectively. The main arguments of this paper are as follows: ① "The two different understandings of Tasan Ch?ng Yag-yong" developed in south and north Korea at that time may be laid down as a general rule that they were really academic reflections and a sort of justification instrument of "the then two different modernization projects", i.e., the "capitalistic modernization project" of South Korea and the "socialist modernization project" of North Korea. ② On the other hand, each of these two different understandings of Tasan Ch?ng Yag-yong in south and north Korea had produced a great quantity of and very important academic achievements on the social conditions and changes and the world of thought in the late Chosun(朝鮮) dynasty consequently. ③ Nevertheless, these two different understandings of Tasan Ch?ng Yag-yong in south and north Korea involved some common theoretical deformities, that is, the shadow of Eurocentrism, the weaknesses of "a essence-centered viewpoint" of Practical learning, and some logical difficulties implied in the standpoint of Neo-Confucianism in the Chosun dynasty which recognized that as an unpractical learning and so forth.
