河西 金麟厚의 여성관 = A Study on View of Womanhood Appeared in Haseo Kim In-hu's Literary Works

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 하서 김인후의 사문에 나타난 여성관을 살펴봄으로서 작가 김인후를 재인식하는데 목적이 있다. 하서는 왕실의 여성과 열반 상층의 여성을 분리하여, 전자는 시경 국풍의 편을 대아의 편과 결합시켜 왕과 함께 국가 통치의 양 축을 이루는 존재로, 후자는 가정의 남녀, 상하, 존비, 귀천 사이의 화합을 만드는 평화의 조정자로 그 역할을 부여하고 있다. 그가 제시한 이상적인 여성성의 두 핵심어 和와 靜은 『소학』에서 특별히 남성에게 부여된 특성이라는 점에서 여성을 군자나 남성과 구분하지 않으려 했던 그의 의식이 드러난다. 여성을 교화의 대상으로 간주한 『소학』과 달리, 자선이 직접 홀로 남겨진 여성의 입장에서 진실을 체험하는 주체가 된 시를 남긴 점도 하서의 여성관이 『소학』의 틀속에서 기계적인 이념으로 고착화되지 않았음을 보여주는 것이다. 이러한 점들은 도학사상을 하서 문학 연구의 기본적 출발로 삼는 시각의 재검토가 필요함을 말해준다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper lies in making dear Kim In-hu(l510-1560)'s thought on woman's social position, role and identity implied in his literary works. Its ultimate goal, however, is to have a new understanding of Kim In-hu himself, not as a Confucian scholar, but as a human being not revealed so far under his prominent achievement of the profound scholarship. This study was attempted by the basic assumption that his learning of Way dohak was based upon the oudooks on human beings which could nor be discussed without deep consideration and close examination on woman's nature and status. As a result it is proved that Kim In-hu seems to consider royal female's role very crucial in governing country; nevertheless, he does not attribute all the responsibilities of its rise and fall to woman only. Although the focus of Kim In-hu's dohak, it is said, was changed later from Great Learnig Daehak to Lesser Learning Sohak, his viewpoint on woman could not be separated from Sohak in terms that the matters concerning woman should have been related all the time to concrete real life. It is true, therefore, that as all the researchers assert, Kim In-hu's literary activities made dose connections with the thoughts on Sohak; considering his consciousness on women, however, his perspective was not mechanically fixed by inflexible and dosed Confucian ideology, and it can be an important basis and due understanding his literary world. The point becomes more obvious in the regard that frugality and harmony as well as calmness and peacefulness which he thought are indispensable elements as virtues of woman are just identical with those given to son and husband in Sohak. It is likewise confirmed by the facts that he tried to have himself experience the reality and truth of the forlorn or left alone woman as subject, not as an object of education and enlightenment, different from Sohak's perspectives, which consider most important the chastity and faithfulness of women against enforcement of remarriage or threat of sexual violence. Thus it could be safely concluded that Kim In-hu was not the one who followed the given messages of Sohak mechanically and literally, but rather the one who received only its basic conception. It means that it is necessary to make reconsideration of the past ideological approach both to his literary works and Kim In-hu himself from the standpoint of his dohak as the basic starting point.
