This paper examines the changing pattern of revealed comparative advantage among the Advanced Industrialized Countries in the Pacific Basin (AICS), EEC, EFTA, the Asian Newly Industrializing Countries (NICS), and the ASEAN in the OECD market for the year 1971-1981. This analysis demonstrates that the traditional commodity group of Korea gradually lose their revealed comparative advantage in OECD market, while the non-traditional commodity group such as iron and steel and electronic machinery gain their competitiveness in OECD market. There exists a complex structure consisting of both competitive and complementary elements in the structure of comparative advantage of manufactured goods among the nation's group. This analysis also shows that the dynamic catch-up process among the AICS, NICS, and ASEAN in the manufactured goods is under way.
