한국 한문 고전의 영어 번역에서 중국 고전 인용 텍스트 번역에 관한 문제 -번역과 주석 사이, 『Suksunyŏm 숙수념』 영역 과정을 한 예로- = Translation of Korean Chinese classics with the quoted original Chinese texts -The cases of translation of 『Suksunyŏm』 in English-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis examines how to reflect Chinese quoted texts in translating Korean Chinese classics into English.
The discussion of the translation of Korean Chinese classics obliges us to consider the problem of double-translation and also raises the question of to what degree are annotations needed in the text in order to allow for comprehension without detracting from the readability of the translated texts.
This report suggests considering previous translations of relevant Chinese classics, how they should be incorporated into our translated work, and what kinds of prior study to use of English translation texts of Chinese classics, especially conceptual terms.
The cases of translations of the original Chinese text in 『Suksunyŏm』 translation in English will be helpful in considering how to balance translated texts and annotation, and what study to need for using previous translations.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 한국 한문 고전을 영어로 번역하는 과정 중에 중국 인용 텍스트를 어떻게 번역에 반영할 것인가에 관한 것이다. 이 논의를 전개하기 위해 먼저 한국 한문 고전이 번역 원문 텍스로서 가지는 특징과 이로 인해 한국어로 번역할 때 제기되는 문제를 확인하고, 한문 고전을 영어로 번역할 때 필연적으로 발생하는 이중 번역의 함의와 아울러 개념어의 번역어 연구가 가지는 가능성을 점검하였다. 이러한 논의를 『숙수념』 영역의 실례를 통해 다시 실질적으로 검토하면서, 영어 번역 텍스트 안에서 중국 인용 텍스트를 수용하는 방법에 있어서 ‘번역’과 ‘해설’의 균형을 고민하였다. 인용 고전 텍스트 번역을 위해 개념어의 번역어를 수집하고 분석하여 사전화하는 과제가 앞에 놓여있음을 확인하고, 한문 고전을 영역할 때 수반되는 이중역의 불가피성을 오히려 번역의 중요한 특징으로 수용하여 하나의 개성으로 발전시킬 수 있는 번역문화를 제안한다.
