<Abstract>
Social Welfare currently has been one of the main issues in the field of politics, society, and religion. Towards this trend, Korean Church has come in on regional community either. Korean Church has carried out Christian Social Welfare Programme in aspect of the missionary work and community service as increasing the role and responsibility to regional community. Most Korean Churches have conducted Christian Social Welfare and provided Christian community service for the regional community even though there are differences in size of Church.
The term ‘Christian Social Welfare’ stands for ‘Diakonia’ that is used in New Testament. Today, however, the term ‘Christian Social Welfare’ has no any definition of ‘Diakonia’ and therefore it is used as general social welfare and general community service. It seems to be why there is short understanding about ‘Diakonia’ with which Korean Church must show a crucial identity and have an important meaning to fulfill ‘Diakonia’.
Bible regards Jesus Christ as a model of Diakonia. Jesus Christ set about spreading the Gospel with announcing the realm of God and taught ‘Fulfillment of Diakonia’ to his followers. Early Christian Communities had been taught ‘What Jesus Christ did’ by Mattew, Mark and Luke who are writers of the Christian Gospels and the Acts of Apostles and they had been developed to “Biblical Diakonia Communities’ by practicing what they learned from the teaching.
The Early Christian Community had tried to retain ‘Diakonian Activity by Jesus Christ. Therefore ‘Diakonian Activity’ by the early Christian Community shows accomplishments of Jesus Christ; which are ‘The realm of God revealed by Jesus Christ’, and ‘Sacrifice and Service of Jesus Christ with Shepherd of the Holy Spirit.
This study points out some weakness of Christian Social Welfare and Christian Community Service and furthermore it ascertains ‘What Diakonia says’ based on Bible to correct the weakness. And also by this step, this study analyses ‘What Diakonia drives’ and proposes some solution on problems in Korean Church as considering ‘What Biblical Diakonia is’.

정치·사회·종교에 이르러 ‘사회복지’를 둘러싼 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이러한 관심 속에서 한국교회 안과 밖에서도 지역사회를 위한 ‘교회의 참여’에 대한 목소리가 커져가고 있다. 지역사회에 대한 교회의 책임과 역할이 강조되면서 교회는 선교활동과 사회복지/사회봉사라는 측면에서 ‘기독교 사회봉사’프로그램을 실천해왔다.
‘기독교 사회봉사’라는 말은 신약 성경의 ‘디아코니아’(diakonia)를 우리말로 표현한 것이다. 규모에 따라 다르지만 교회는 이미 지역사회를 위한 ‘기독교 사회봉사’를 실천해왔다. 하지만 오늘날 우리의 ‘기독교 사회봉사’는 성경에서 가르치는 ‘디아코니아’와 다르거나 이름뿐인 ‘디아코니아’로 일반 사회복지/사회봉사와 구분하기 어렵다. 이는 한국 교회의 ‘디아코니아 실천’에 있어서 중요한 정체성과 의미의 중심이 되어야할 ‘디아코니아’에 대한 부족한 이해에서 비롯되었다. 나는 한국교회의 부족한 ‘디아코니아’에 대한 이해를 통해 ‘기독교 사회복지/사회봉사’의 문제점을 지적하고 이를 바로 잡기 위해 성경에 기초한 ‘디아코니아 이해’를 연구 제시할 것이다. 그리고 연구를 통해 ‘디아코니아의 의미와 동인’을 분석하고 이 결과를 바탕으로 ‘올바른 성경적 디아코니아’를 제시하여 한국 교회의 갱신의 해법을 제시할 것이다.
성경적 디아코니아의 모델은 예수님이다. 예수님은 하나님 나라의 선포와 함께 시작한 사역 가운데 복음의 메시지와 ‘디아코니아’를 실천과 함께 제자들에게 가르쳤다. 공관복음서와 사도행전의 저자 마태·마가·누가는 초기 기독교 공동체에게 예수님의 사역과 가르침을 베풀고 이를 배운 교회 공동체는 배운 바를 안과 밖에서 실천하고 ‘디아코니아’ 공동체로 발전해 나갔다. 초기 기독교 공동체가 실천한 ‘디아코니아’의 모습은 예수님의 ‘디아코니아’ 활동의 연속성상에 있다. 즉 예수님의 하나님 나라 운동과 성령의 인도하심 그리고 희생, 섬김, 낮아짐의 사역의 특징이 초기 기독교 공동체의 ‘디아코니아’활동에 계승된 것이다. 한국 교회의 ‘잘못된 디아코니아’를 바로 잡고 ‘올바른 디아코니아’를 제시하는 것은 이러한 성경적 가르침에 기초한다.
