인문치료와 내러티브 = Humanities Therapy and Narrative

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인문치료는 인간이 살아가면서 경험하는 다양한 실존적 문제들과 그로 인한 고통을 어떻게 이해하고 그것들에 대해 어떤 태도를 취해야 할 것인지를 연구한다. 인문치료가 그 목적을 달성하기 위해서는 무엇보다도 인간이 어떤 존재인지를 정확히 인식할 필요가 있다. 인간성에 대한 올바른 통찰 없이 삶의 문제를 해결하거나 치료하는 것은 거의 불가능하다. 우리가 경험하는 실존적 문제와 정신적 고통 중 상당수는 정체성의 상실 및 혼란과 더불어 타자 및 세계와의 적절치 못한 관계로부터 유래한다.
이 논문은 인문치료의 목적이 올바른 정체성과 세계관 확립에 있다고 보고 내러티브가 인문치료에 관련되는 구체적 방식을 검토한다. 논의 순서는 다음과 같다. 2장에서는 인문치료의 목적과 대상을 중심으로 인문치료의 정체성이 검토된다. 3장에서는 인문치료의 주요 원리로서 초월성원리가 제시되고, 이것을 바탕으로 인간을 내러티브적 존재로 보는 견해가 다루어진다. 4장에서는 이전 논의를 바탕으로 인문치료를 위한 내러티브적 모형이 검토된다. 먼저 매킨타이어(MacIntyre)의 이론에 기반을 둔 내러티브 모형이 제시되고 이어서 존슨(Johnson)이 제시한 인지과학적 모형을 검토함으로써 인문치료의 경험적 토대를 확보하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Humanities therapy is a discipline to study various existential problems and sufferings from our daily lives and appropriate attitudes for them. In order for humanities therapy to achieve its purpose, first of all, it has to explicate what human beings are. It is impossible and unfortunate to solve existential problems without proper insights into the nature of human beings, for they are mostly due to people’s loss of identity and their inability to maintain proper relationships with others and the world.
This paper examines a concrete way in which narrative is related to humanities therapy, assuming that its main purpose lies in establishing proper identity and worldview. The order of discussion is as follows. In Chapter 2, the identity of humanities therapy is examined, focusing on its purpose and subject. In chapter 3, the transcendence principle is suggested as a main principle of humanities therapy and the viewpoint which regards human being as a narrative existence is dealt with. In chapter 4, based on the above discussions, two narrative models for humanities therapy are examined. First, a model based on the narrative theory of MacIntyre is suggested and, then, the empirical foundation of humanities therapy is secured by examining a narrative model based on the cognitive scientific theory suggested by Johnson.
