Chusa Kim Jeong-hee is highly regarded as a scholar and artist representing the late Joseon Dynasty. He achieved a state of unity in his academic skills by expressing the spirit of live-action old poetry not only as a theory, but through poetry, calligraphy, and painting as actual works. Chusa typeface is characterized by the beauty of the monstrous that destroyed the form of the existing calligraphy, the beauty of the high school and the unadorned state, and the beauty of the blue and old orphans based on humanistic knowledge. is doing And the modern design concept that can be investigated in response to this vertex is deconstructive typography.
Deconstructionism is a post-structuralist theory of French philosopher Jacques Derrida who sought to overcome the limitations of Western structuralism and deconstruct metaphysical theories and dichotomous traditional ideas.
Derrida suggested concepts such as ‘separation’, ‘uncertainty’, ‘decentralization’, and ‘deconstruction’ and had various influences on society, philosophy, literature, art, architecture, and other fields. Based on this deconstructivist perspective, modern postmodern typography writers deconstructed the text, destroyed the existing typeface, and questioned the absolute readability and rationality of the design. And many modern researchers have found similarities in the epistemological point of view by linking Derrida’s deconstructionist thought with Eastern ideas such as Buddhism and Nojang. Based on this point of view, the researcher paid attention to the connection between Chusa aesthetics and deconstructivist typography art, and based on this, attempted to interpret Chusa body from the deconstructive typography point of view. Through this study, it was confirmed that the deconstructivist design perspective can be used as a theoretical reference for interpreting Chusa aesthetics, and it is also studied in terms of suggesting that modern design can act as an important analysis criterion in the interpretation of the oriental formative ideology in the future.
