항해사의 항해경험, 항해수행, 그리고 작업부하와의 관계 = The Relationships of Navigation Officer's Voyage Experiences, Ship Handling Performances, and Workload

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to investigate the relationships of officer's voyage experiences, ship handling performances, and psychological characteristics. For this purpose, the navigation officer's (1) ship handling performance measured by the numbers of striking (2) levels of confidence in navigation, and (3) mental workload were compared among the officers whose expertise were different in terms of voyage experiences. The results indicated that the experienced navigation officers showed better performances of ship handling, higher levels of confidence in navigation, and lower temporal demands on mental workload. This study implicated that navigation expertise gained by voyage experience is an important factor in ship handling, confidence, and mental workload.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 항해사의 항해 경험을 선박 시뮬레이션 교육만을 받은 초보자와 실제 항해 경험이 있는 전문가 집단으로 나누어 항해 수행과 여러 가지 심리적 특성들간의 관계를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 충실도 높은 선박 조종 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 다양한 항해 시나리오를 구현하고, 이 상황에서의 선박제어 수행을 측정하였다. 또한 항해 수행에 대한 확신 수준과 작업부하를 측정하였고, 이와는 독립적으로 실험참가자들의 일반적 불안 및 감각추구 성향, 그리고 성격의 5요인을 측정하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 항해 경험에 따라 전문가일수록 선박 충돌 횟수가 적었다. 둘째, 작업부하를 분석한 결과 항해 경험이 많을수록 시간적 부담이 낮고 항해 확신 수준이 높아 항해 경험에 따라 수행에 대한 심리적인 스트레스 정도가 다른 것으로 보인다.
