      This research is aimed to study specific instructions for teachers to help students to improve their essay writing skills. Under this purpose, I created three-step instructions to develop writing skills. First step was to prepare for reading materials and guide students to read them in order to gain background knowledge which is a very important element in writing essays. The next step would be the after-reading activities, which include writing or drawing of their impressions after reading, to improve their skills of expression. Lastly, by arranging an essay writing club, students could be instructed to a better essay-writing skill. This activity offers specific theories and methods to teach about essay writing, and manages to start writing short stories and eventually practicing the writing tests to develop their creativity, reasoning, critical and expressive abilities.
      Through the essay-writing guideline, the following effects were found.
      Firstly, it helped students to gain background knowledge. Building such knowledge is the most significant factor pertaining to 'wisdom' which can expands the indirect experiences. It was a fact that the acquisition of background information assisted students to develop their writing skills. The reading materials of literature also showed to lay the foundation to improve their creativity, reasoning, critical and expressive abilities.
      Secondly, the after-reading activities could extend the expressive skills. Writing reviews, critical essays, and drawing their impressions into characters helped students develop expressive power and creativity.
      Thirdly, the essay writing club extended students' writing skills. The writing club of theory, methods and writing activities got students interested in writings, and provided a better understanding about writing essay. And it also developed the elements of essay that are creativity, reasoning, critical and expressive abilities.
      However, a longer period of time to instruct students is needed and should be managed for better effects. In addition, each curriculum shall cooperate to guide students for writing integrated essays, and seek more ways to resolve this problem. With providing solutions to such problems, other various methods that effectively assist students to improve their writing skills must be developed in the future.
      The study on improving the writing skills of students must be carried on with a variety of methods in the future. And it is my wish to have that research as producing materials or instructing methods that can efficiently be exercised at the school field.
