국문 초록 (Abstract)

이근삼 박사는 기독교 신조와 신앙고백을 매우 중요하게 여겼다. 그는 직접 웨스트민스터 소교리문답을 해설하기도 하고 그 근원에 대해 연구하기도 했다. 특히 그는 로마 가톨릭, 성공회, 루터교, 네덜란드 개혁교회의 신앙고백서 현황을 자세히 분석했다. 또한 그는 신앙고백의 특징과 해석 방법에 대한 주목할 만한 연구도 남겼다. 그는 현대 신학과 교회에서 신앙고백이 점차 그 의미와 위치를 잃어가는 것을 목격하며 안타까워했다. 이 박사는 성경의 권위에 대한 태도와 신앙고백이 서로 밀접하게 연관되어 있다고 믿었다. 그는 성경적 신앙과 교회를 지키기 위해 신앙고백을 강조했다. 이 박사는 신앙고백의 특징을 신앙적인 면, 이론적인 면, 교회적 또는 사회적인 면, 역사적인 면, 정반적인 면, 종말론적인 면, 교육적인 면, 법적인 면으로 구분해서 설명했다. 그가 신앙고백서를 해석하는 방법은 “신앙고백적 해석” 또는 “역사적-주해적 해석”이다. 이는 신앙고백서를 교회의 문서로 존중하는 가운데, 교회가 성경적 신앙 안에서 그것을 사용하고 해석할 수 있도록 하는 방식이다. 신앙고백서에 대한 이 박사의 태도를 보면, 그는 근본주의자가 아니라 성경적 신앙과 교회를 바로 세우기 위해 지적이고 실천적인 신학 작업에 헌신한 개혁주의 신학자였다는 결론을 내릴 수 있다.

Dr. Kun Sam Lee considered the Christian creeds and confessions of faith very important. He personally explained the Westminster Shorter Catechism and researched its origins. In particular, he analyzed in detail the current status of confessions of faith in the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, and Dutch Reformed churches. He also left behind notable research on the characteristics of confessions of faith and how to interpret them. He observed that the confession of faith was gradually losing its meaning and position in modern theology and churches. However, he believed that attitudes toward the authority of the Bible and confessions of faith stand and fall together. He also emphasized the confession of faith to protect biblical faith and the church. Dr. Lee explains the characteristics of the confession by distinguishing the religious, theoretical, social, historical, dialectical, eschatological, educational, and legal aspects. His method of interpreting confessions of faith is “confessional interpretation” or “historical-exegetical interpretation.” This is a way to respect the confession of faith as a church document and allow the church to use and interpret it within biblical faith. Looking at Dr. Lee’s attitude toward the confession of faith, one can conclude that he was not a fundamentalist but a reformed theologian who devoted himself to intellectual and practical theological work to establish biblical faith and the church.
