기능적 수학교육프로그램이 지적장애성인의 화폐계산능력과 예산범위 내 구매기술 향상에 미치는 효과에 대한 단일사례 연구 = A single case study of the effects of functional mathematical learning program on the money calculation ability and the purchase technique within the budget of in intellectually challenged adults

국문 초록 (Abstract)

장애인이 지역사회에서 독립적으로 살아가기 위해서는 다양한 사회적 기술이 필요한데 특히 구매기술은 그 가운데 매우 실질적인 기술에 속한다. 이 연구는 이러한 입장에서 기능적 수학교육프로그램이 지적장애성인의 화폐계산능력과 예산범위 내 구매기술에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다.
연구는 2017년 11월부터 12월까지 주 1회～2회 총 10회기 동안 K 지역에 위치한 H 복지센터를 이용하는 중년의 지적장애성인 1명을 대상으로 하였으며, 적용한 기능적 수학교육프로그램은 금액알기, 잔돈 바꾸기, 물건 값 계산하기, 거스름돈 계산하기의 4가지 영역으로 구성하였다. 화폐계산능력에 대한 효과를 검증하기 위해 프로그램 전‧후 화폐계산 능력 검사를 사전‧사후 실시하여 비교 분석하였으며, 예산범위 내 구매기술에 미친 효과를 검증하기 위해서는 물건구매행동 관찰 척도를 사전‧사후 실시하여 비교 분석하였다. 또한 매 회기마다 관찰일지를 통한 질적 분석도 함께 실시하였다.
연구 결과, 기능적 수학교육프로그램이 지적장애성인의 화폐계산능력 향상에는 효과가 있으나 예산범위 내 구매기술 향상에는 효과를 나타내지 못했음을 알 수 있었다. 연구 대상자가 1명이고 대상자의 특성으로 인해 연구 결과를 일반화하기에는 한계가 있었으나, 교육의 기회가 없었던 지적장애성인에게 교육의 기회를 제공하여 스스로 화폐계산을 할 수 있게 된 것, 구매에 대한 욕구는 컸으나 타인에 대한 의존도가 높았던 대상자가 스스로 구매활동을 해봄으로 지역사회에서 구매활동에 대해 즐거움과 자신감을 갖게 된 것, 또 더 이상 의존과 고립이 아닌 지역사회로 나올 수 있도록 계기를 만들었다는 점에서 향수 보다 다양한 지적장애성인을 대상으로 한 구매기술 향상을 위한 수학교육이 시도될 필요가 있다고 볼 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

For the disabled adults to live in a local community independently, they need various social techniques, and the purchase technique is one of the more efficient ones. This study intended to examine the effect of a functional mathematics learning program on money calculation ability and the purchase technique within the budget of the disabled adults.
This study was conducted on a middle-aged adult with the intellectual disability once or twice a week and lasted up to ten times from November to December 2017. The study subject used H welfare center located in K area. The functional mathematics learning program applied was composed of four areas – knowing the amount, breaking the bill into small changes, paying for goods, and calculating change. To prove the effect on money calculation ability, ability tests were conducted before and after the program, and the result was analyzed. To verify the effect on the technique of purchasing within the budget, observation on goods purchasing behavior was made before and after the program, and the comparative analysis was made. Besides, qualitative analysis through the observation log on every session was also executed.
The study result showed that the functional mathematics learning program was effective in improving the money calculation ability, but did not have much effect on improving the technique of purchasing within the budget. Although there was a limit of only one test subject and generalizing the result can be difficult, the study was able to provide a learning opportunity to a mentally challenged adult who could not have learning opportunities so the person could calculate the money independently. Also, the study subject who had strong purchasing desire but had to depend on others could now have fun and confidence in purchasing activity in the local community by purchasing by oneself. Since this study created a chance for a disabled adult to come out of dependency and isolation and go into the local society, there is a need to attempt conducting mathematics learnings for various intellectually challenged adults to improve their purchasing skills.
