고등교육 이념과 대학의 기능 변화

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문에서는 대학의 이념과 기능을 원형과 변형으로 나누어 대학정신의 변화과정을 탐색해 보고자 하였다. 대학의 원형은 제도로 정착되기까지의 대학의 모습을 반영하고 있다. 원형적 이념은 진리탐구의 정신을 반영하고 있으며 연구와 교육 기능이 두 축을 형성하였다. 대학의 변형은 산업화된 대중사회, 대량생산소비가 촉진된 근대 사회의 대학 특성을 반영하고 있다. 실용성과 대중교육이 강조되었으며, 산업화 된 근대국가가 요구하는 인력수요와 국가적 필요가 반영되었다. 실용적 가치와 사회봉사기능을 강조하였다. 초변형은 기술혁명으로 초근대화가 진행된 21세기 지식기반의 사회의 특성을 반영한다. 다양한 가치의 혼재와 대학의 사회적 기능에 있어서 교육 · 연구 · 사회봉사 간의 분화와 통합이 동시에 추구되었다. 이념의 혼돈과 기능의 분리 속에 다양한 유형의 대학이 형성되고 전문화 · 다양화 · 정보화의 변화 압력을 수용하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to explore the idea of university. In this study, I was trying to figure out the process of change of university spirit through dividing the ideology and function into an archetype, transformational type, and post-transformational type of University Idea. The archetype of University has been reflecting the image of university before it is settled as an institution. The archetypical idea of university reflects the inquiring minds of truth, also both research and function of education define its axis. The transformational type of University Idea is reflecting characteristics of university in modern society that not only industrialized mass society but the mass production and consumption are expedited. Practicality and public education were emphasized, and reflected demand for manpower which is needed by industrialized modern nation and its national need. Also, utilitarian value and community services are emphasized. The post trans formational type of University Idea reflects characteristics of intellectual society which is super-modernized by technological revolution. The mixture of diverse value, integration and differentiation of education, research, and community service are pursued. Various types of university are being formed in the chaos of ideology and function separation, absorbing the pressure for change of specialization, diversification, and information.
