The aims of this study are to provide a global overview of research trends in information science and to trace its changes in the main topics over time using by trends analysis. The study examined the topics of research articles published in Journal of American Society for Information Science and Technology between 1985 and 2009. Rather than take a single snapshot of the scene observable at a given point in time, the aim has been to present a series of such pictures so that they may be compared and trends identified over time. The fairly arbitrary decision was taken to divide the period under consideration into three ‘publication windows’: 1985-1994, 1995-2002, 2003-2009. The study find that the most productive areas are ‘Information Retrieval’, followed by ‘Information System', ‘Document Processing', ‘Information Use’. In result of comparing among three intellectual structures of title keywords, it was found that the main area in the field of Information Science is ‘Information Retrieval' and “Bibliomnetrics" and the studies of web based data processing and IT application on system have been expanded and will be expanded.
