The Antelope-horn and Rhinoceros-horn are studied whether these two(2) crude drugs of animal horn origin could inhibit the increase of serum total cholesterol and β-lipoprotein contents to the experimental animal administered cholesterol orally, like the deer horn as shown previously.
The adult male rabbits are used as the experimental animal. After two(2) weeks conditioning under the same environment with the stock diet, the rabbits are housed in the individual cages and are divided into the following six (6) experimental groups, and each group are fed with the experimental diet for 28 days.
Group
Control Group (CG)
Antelope horn Group (AG)
Rhinoceros horn Group (RG)
Cholesterol Group (CG)
Cholesterol+Antelope horn Group(Ch AG)
Cholesterol+Rhinoceros horn Group(Ch RG)
Experimental diet
Stock diet
Stock diet+Antelope horn water extracts
Stock diet+Rhinoceros horn water extracts
Stock diet+Cholesterol
Stock diet+Cholesterol+Antelopehorn water extracts
Stock diet+Cholesterol+Rhinoceros horn water extracts
And the serum total cholesterol and β-lipoprotein contents of each group are determined during the experimental feeding period of 28 days.
The results as shown in the tables 1 and 2 and the figures 1 and 2 are concluded that the serum total cholesterol and β-lipoprotein contents of the rabbits between antelope horn and Rhinoceros horn administered groups and the not administered groups are not significantly different statistically at either the former experimental three groups (CG, AG, and RG) and the later three groups (ChG, Ch-AG, and CH-RG).
