조선 후기 천주교 관련 서적에 나타난 서양철학사상에 관한 연구_preprint

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 17세기 동아시아에서 일어난 동서양의 문화적 조우(文化的 遭遇:cultural encounter)에 관한 종합적 평가와 검토를 위한 하나의 부분적 시도이다. 17세기 초 중국에 들어온 유럽의 천주교 예수회신부들이 소개한 서양의 문화(과학, 철학, 종교 등)는 처음에는 작은 물결인가 싶더니 마침내 커다란 파도로 변하여 동아시아의 곳곳에 정치·사회·사상적 영향을 미쳤다. 이런 영향에 대한 평가는 그 당시부터 현재에 이르기 까지, 그 파란의 중심지에서부터 그 최종 귀착지에 이르기까지, 폭넓은 시간과 공간의 간격을 두고 다양하게 이루어져 왔다. 이러한 평가들에 바탕을 두고, 현재의 관점에서 이 역사적 문화적 사건을 재평가 및 재검토하려는 시도의 한 몫을 담당하기 위해 이 논문이 기획되었다. 이 논문과 연계될 수 있는 거시적 탐구 주제로서 논자는 일차적으로 철학과 사학 두 분야를 염두에 두고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis is an inquiry into the cultural encounter between the East and the West occurred during the 17th century in East-Asia, which is intended as a partial attempt to examine Western-philosophical background of 'Seo-Hahk(서학, Western-Learnings).'
In this effort, I concentrate mainly on Part 1 and 3 of <The True Meaning of the Lord of Heaven(천주실외)> written by Matteo Ricci. In doing so, I analyze the parts mentioned above, and compare Ricci's view with Thomas Aquinas's, who is a leading scholar of western medieval philosophy and has a great influence on Ricci as well as Christian thoughts. The main focus of this thesis is on God and Soul. That is, in this thesis, I examine Ricci and Aquinas's arguments for the existence of God and their views on the immortality of the Soul.
Despite a great similarity between Ricci and Aquinas, I find some important differences in their views on God and Soul throughout this analysis and comparison. Therefore, a suitable explanation for Ricci's stance is provided in this thesis on the basis of the particular situation Ricci faced in China.
