<P>In this report, we propose a metal–metal core–shell nanocube (NC) as an advanced plasmonic material for highly efficient organic solar cells (OSCs). We covered an Au core with a thin Ag shell as <I>a scattering enhancer</I> to build Au@Ag NCs, which showed stronger scattering efficiency than Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) throughout the visible range. Highly efficient plasmonic organic solar cells were fabricated by embedding Au@Ag NCs into an anodic buffer layer, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), and the power conversion efficiency was enhanced to 6.3% from 5.3% in poly[<I>N</I>-9-hepta-decanyl-2,7-carbazole-<I>alt</I>-5,5-(4,7-di-2-thienyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole)] (PCDTBT):[6,6]-phenyl C71-butyric acid methyl ester (PC70BM) based OSCs and 9.2% from 7.9% in polythieno[3,4-<I>b</I>]thiophene/benzodithiophene (PTB7):PC70BM based OSCs. The Au@Ag NC plasmonic PCDTBT:PC70BM-based organic solar cells showed 2.2-fold higher external quantum efficiency enhancement compared to AuNPs devices at a wavelength of 450–700 nm due to the amplified plasmonic scattering effect. Finally, we proved the strongly enhanced plasmonic scattering efficiency of Au@Ag NCs embedded in organic solar cells <I>via</I> theoretical calculations and detailed optical measurements.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/ancac3/2014/ancac3.2014.8.issue-4/nn500222q/production/images/medium/nn-2014-00222q_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nn500222q'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

<P>In this report, we explore the underlying mechanisms by which doped organic thin films as a top hole-selective layer (HSL) improve the performance and stability of colloidal quantum dot (CQD)-based solar cells. Molecular dynamics-based theoretical studies prove that the hydro/oxo-phobic properties of the HSL serve to efficiently passivate the CQD solid. Furthermore, the robust and outstanding electrical properties of the HSL, simultaneously ensure a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) and increase the stability performance of CQD-based solar cells. As a result, a best PCE of 11.7% in a lead sulfide (PbS)-based CQD solar cell is achieved and over 90% of the initial performance is retained after 1 year storage under ambient conditions.</P>
Design and Performance Evaluation of 13.56-MHz Passive RFID for E-Skin Sensor Application
Baek, Jong Jin,Kim, Se Woong,Park, Kun Ho,Jeong, Min Joo,Kim, Youn Tae IEEE 2018 IEEE microwave and wireless components letters Vol.28 No.12
<P>In this letter, a 13.56-MHz passive RFID is proposed as a wireless communication method for an e-skin sensor. Planar coils for RFID antenna were designed on a flexible printed circuit board. An impedance matching network for the coil antenna was optimized to minimize signal loss between coil antennas. Signal loss was measured after attaching the designed antennas to the arm of a human subject. The performance of the proposed method was then evaluated by measuring a read range. The results showed that the proposed method has sufficient read range to wirelessly receive data from an e-skin sensor located on an arm. The proposed method can be effectively used to realize wireless data communication for an e-skin sensor.</P>
Extraforaminal Extrusion of Intervertebral Disc Misdiagnosed as Neurogenic Tumor: a Case Report
Chun, Se-Woong,Park, Young-Seop,Heo, Won,Baek, Kyeonghee,Moon, Jin Il Korean Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine 2017 Investigative Magnetic Resonance Imaging Vol.21 No.2
A 55-year-old male presented with dysesthesia of the right anteromedial thigh. A magnetic resonance image revealed a globular mass at the right extraforaminal area of the L3/4 level. Based on the diagnosis of neurogenic tumor, surgical excision was performed. The surgical impression and pathology confirmed extrusion of intervertebral disc. In a retrospective review of the magnetic resonance image, we noticed a fibrillary pattern directed from the intervertebral disc space to the lesion, and disrupted annulus fibrosus and indentation caused by the ring apophysis. We suggest aforementioned features, indicative of intervertebral disc lesions, to be checked when interpreting mass lesions around the intervertebral foramen.
In Vivo Antitumor Efficacy of Cw252053, A Folate-based Thymidylate Synthase Inhibitor
Oh, Se-Woong,Ha, Jong-Ryul,Baek, Du-Jong The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 2001 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.24 No.4
Previous studies have demonstrated that CW252053, a quinazoline antifolate, exhibits potent inhibitory activity against thymidylate synthase (TS) as well as cytotoxic activity against tumor cell lines in vitro. In this studys, we evaluated the in vivo antitumor efficacy of CW252053 in the mouse tumor model. Female B6D2F$_1$ mice were injected with LY3.7. 2C TK-/- (thymidine kinase deficient mouse Iymphoma) cells into the gastrocnemius muscle. Then, CW252053 was administered twice daily by intraperitoneal injection for 10 days, and tumor growth was monitored daily by leg diameter measurement. All animals in the vehicle, 5-FU, and low dose (30mgmg/kg CW252053 treated groups died between days 12 and 23 because of the tumor burden. In contrast, dosing with 60 mg/kg of CW252053 produced a cure rat against tumor growth of 37.5% and a survival rate of 50%. Even more significantly, a higher dose of CW252053 (120 mg/kg) elicited both a 100% cure rate and a 100% survival rate at the termination of the study, confirming that this compound has very potent in vivo antitumor activity against tumor growth. During the experimental period of this study no signs of toxicity were observed even at the high CW252053 dosage rate of 120 mg/kg.

Norwegian scabies is a crusted non-itchy rash caused by massive infestation with the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. It is usually associated with immunosuppression or neurologic impairment, although it has rarely been reported in normal persons. We report a case of Norwegian scabies in 6-year old girl with acute myeloid leukemia associated graft-versus-host disease. The lesion showed pruritic, hyperkeratotic scaly plaques and fissures on the entire body. Application of a mineral oil preparation from hyperkeratotic areas showed numerous scabies mites. Treatment with 10% crotamiton cream for two weeks resulted in marked regression of the skin lesions, but finally she died of sepsis due to deterioration of her systemic conditions.
