Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate outcome measurement scales of nursing education such as communication, professionalism, leadership, and critical thinking. Methods: A methodological study design was used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scales. Survey was done to the students (n=407) enrolled in baccalaureate nursing schools. Using convenience sampling method, we tried to include all grades of students. Internal consistency, convergent validity and group comparison were used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scales. Results: All scales were reliable and valid. Only convergent validity of the scale to measure critical thinking was relatively low. It suggested that critical thinking skill and disposition might be measured separately. Also it was inefficient to measure the nursing education outcomes with separate scales. Conclusions: It is recommended to develop a new integrative scale to measure nursing education outcomes. Also it is necessary to set the norm of nursing students to evaluate nursing education outcomes for the quality control of nursing education.

The 15 year-old boy patient complained of delayed permanent teeth eruption. The authors found multiple dentigerous cysts involving many permanent teeth through radiographic fingdings. We observed as follows: 1. Most of primary teeth were remained and only six permanent teeth erupted. Cystic lesions were found around the crown of impacted mandibular laterar incisors, canines, 1st molars and maxillary right lateral incisor, canine throught radiographs. It was shown that there were teeth anomalies of mandibular second premolars, taurodontism of maxillary first molars, dilacerated roots of many teeth and ectopic eruption of maxillary left second premolar and mandibular right first molar. 2. Pediatric clinical, laboratory, radiographic findings and growth and thyroid hormone tests were non specific. 3. Specific hereditary characteristics were not found in his families. 4. Tooth eruption progressed after marsupialization of cyst, but serial observation is required.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to examine about dental hygienists’ myofascial pain syndrome, lower back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), medial and lateral epicondylitis, hand-arm vibration syndrom and work-related musculoskeletal syndrome (WMSD) experience and hygienists’ posture, motion. Methods: The self-administered questionnaire was surveyed from June 1 to September 30 of 2018 targeting 280 dental hygienists in Gyeongnam province and 266 dental hygienists’ answers were analyzed. Results: The average daily working hours of a dental hygienist was more than eight hours 59.0%, with an average of 33 patients per day. The average number of patients who receive treatment for more than 30 minutes is 15. The angle of motion of the subjective evaluation was above 60%. Medical position and form of movement were more than 50% above the standard level. Symptoms of posture and motion that cause WMSD were hand-arm vibration syndrome 68.1%, myofascial pain syndrome 58.6%, lower back pain 51.1%, CTS 50.4% in order. Experience WMSD related symptoms which dental hygienists experience were myofascial pain syndrome 92.9%, CTS 57.9%, lower back pain 56.4%, medial and lateral epicondylitis 37.2%, hand-arm vibration syndrome 24.4%. Conclusion: The above results showed the posture and motion of dental hygienists and were found that the experience rate which dental hygienists experience WMSD of myofascial pain syndrome, Lower back pain, and CTS was significantly more than 56%.

Biochemical Characterization of Collagen from the Starfish Asterias amurensis

The industrial use of bovine and porcine collagen has been expanded to include foods, cosmetics, and biomaterials, However, due to outbreaks of bovine spongiform encephalopathy and foot and mouth disease, new, alternative, safe sources of collagen are being sought. In this study, pepsin-solubilized collagen (PSC) was isolated from the tissue of a starfish (Asterias amurensis) and shown to consist of (${\alpha}1)_2{\alpha}2$ heterotrimer, which is similar to calf skin type I collagen. However, the PSC was denaturated at 24.7$^{\circ}C$, which is about 12$^{\circ}C$ lower than mammalian collagen. Immunoblotting assay using polyclonal anti-type I collagen antibody revealed that the starfish collagen contained similar affinity motifs. In XTT assay, PSC suspension had cell growth activity and no showed no cytotoxicity.

To explore the use of starfish gelatin (SFG) films as a biodegradable material, SFG from starfish was extracted and used as a film material. In addition, to provide antimicrobial activity and enhanced flavor of SFG films, vanillin was incorporated. As the concentration of vanillin increased, the tensile strength of the films increased and water vapor permeability decreased. With regard to the structural characteristics of SFG films containing vanillin, the microstructure of the SFG films was not affected by the addition of vanillin. In addition, the SFG films containing vanillin exhibited antimicrobial activity against Listeria monocytogenes. As the application of the SFG films, crab sticks were packed with SFG films containing 0.05% vanillin. During storage, the populations of L. monocytogenes inoculated on crab sticks wrapped with SFG films containing vanillin were lower than those on the control sample, suggesting that SFG films containing vanillin can be useful in active food packaging.
