The analysis of visual storytelling in pop concerts under cultural context differences - Focused on performances by American and South Korean artists from 2018 to 2022 -

Background The concert industry has changed throughout history. The concert consists of many components (stage design, visuals, choreography, music, lyrics) that interact together and contribute to the understanding by the viewer of the idea and concept of the entire performance. The videos help to attract the audience, emphasize the artist's image, and help convey information not only by text but also through pictures. The visual elements on the enormous screens have become a storytelling tool that allows the artist verbally influence the viewer's emotions through the carefully thought-out visible range. The purpose of the study is to compare and find differences between America's and South Korea's pop concert visual storytelling under the cultural aspects. Methods In the case study, the content analysis used in the current research and study―the artists for the case study were selected according to the Rankings of both countries. Collected data (visuals from the performances of each representative) observed, analyzed, and presented in the study. Define the differences in its cultures and their impact on visual storytelling, Edward Hall's concept of culture used, and the visual storytelling principles of Jess Scherman applied during the case study analysis. Result Analysis of the visual elements shown at the concerts of the performers featured in the study revealed the following differences in the form of visual storytelling. During the USA artist's concerts, following their belonging to the low-context and individualistic culture, all symbols and visual elements are expressed explicitly without understatement. In South Korea's case, the idea is implicit because they belong to the high-context and collectivist culture, according to Edward Hall. Applying Jess Sherman's principles of visual storytelling, American artists represent a relevance principle where the artist, without hesitation, discusses current social and cultural issues with the audience, bringing awareness to people. South Korean artists can't express themselves on these topics because of society's requirements and their strong bonds with it, so they tend to create a conceptual universe for their visual storytelling (archetype principle of visual storytelling). Conclusion This study found that culture has an impressive influence on visual storytelling. Even during the era of Globalization in music, culture will be the drive-force for the artists' expression. The visual elements shown during the concert are essential in visual storytelling - image conveys information and emotions, sometimes to a much greater extent than text. American artists, who are well aware of their music and performances' impact on the listeners, readily show the visual of socially oriented topics. On the other hand, South Korean artists are following their group's concept and can't express themselves as openly as American artists.

글쓰기 수업에서 ‘북 콘서트’ 제작 활동 사례 연구 - 멀티 리터러시로서 글쓰기 개념과 관련하여

This study examines the direction of writing education by incorporating the “book concert” activities in a writing process. The “book concert” activities were proved to enhance the students’ critical thinking and elicit their multi-literacy capabilities in reading and writing. This study was indebted to the “reading debate” activity conducted in “Reading and Discussion” class at University A; its learning strategy were modified for and applied to a writing class called “Creative Thinking and Writing” at University B as a form of a “book concert.” In the class, students are asked as a group to select a book and introduce it to the class. The study showed that the book concert activities allowed the students to “understand, analyze, and evaluate” the text and preform “rewriting” to achieve the goal of “transmission and communication” for their audience. Considering that the purpose of writing is to explore ways of “thinking” and “expression” rather than to simply learn its technology, the study suggests an extension of the concept of writing which includes a construction of “stories” using non-lingual tools like media, not merely a medium to deliver messages. This study suggests more flexible conception of writing in classroom, which will lead writing education to be located as a necessary and more adaptive subject of General Education in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era. 본 연구는 ‘북 콘서트’ 활동을 글쓰기 과정에 편입시켜 글쓰기 교육의 방향을 재고하는 데 목적이 있다. 북 콘서트 활동은 학생들의 비판적 사고를 향상시키고 독서와글쓰기에서 멀티 리터러시 능력을 유도할 수 있었던 수업 사례이다. A 대학의 ‘읽기와 토론’ 수업에서 적용했던 ‘독서 토론’을 활용하여 B 대학의 ‘창조적 사고와 글쓰기’ 수업에서 ‘북 콘서트’의 형태로 적용하였다. 모둠 활동으로서 조마다 한 편의 텍스트를 선정하고 이를 소개하는 방식으로 활동을 유도하였는데, 이 과정에서 학생들은 텍스트를 ‘이해하고 분석하고 평가’한 후 이를 청중에게 ‘전달하고소통’하는 목적을 달성하기 위해 ‘다시쓰기’를 수행할 수 있었다. 글쓰기 수업의 목적이 단순히 ‘글 쓰는 기술’을 배우는 것이 아니라 ‘사고’와 ‘표현’ 의 방법을 찾는 것임을 고려하면서, 본 연구는 글쓰기가 단순히 메시지를 전달하는도구가 아니라, 미디어와 같은 비언어적 도구를 활용하여 ‘이야기’를 재구성하는 개념까지 확장될 수 있어야 함을 제안하였다. 글쓰기 개념의 유연한 대응이 있을 때, 글쓰기 교육 또한 4차 산업 시대에 필수적이고 적응력 있는 교양교육 과목으로 정착할수 있을 것이다.

스마트 시대의 <스토리텔링 콘서트>의 한국적 의미 탐색을 위한 서설

스토리텔링 콘서트의 직접적 공간성과 상호작용성은 간접적 미디어 매개의 영역과 분리되어 다루어져 왔다. 하지만 이들은 적대적 관계가 아니라 상호 시너지 효과를 창출하여야할 상호보완적 관계이다. 이점은 스마트환경이 되면서 더욱 도드라지고 있다. 민주성, 소통성, 치유성, 교육과 문화계발효과가 큰 스토리텔링 콘서트의 특성은 한국의 대중문화 관점에서 방송콘텐츠에 다수 산재되어 연속적으로 지속되어 왔으며 최근에는 디지털환경에 맞게 진화되어 왔다. 이런 맥락에서 방송제작 현장은 스토리텔링 콘서트 현장이며, 그것은 미디어 매개와 전파 확산을 염두하고 제작되며 그 긍정적 결과로 더욱 현장은 강화된다. 본 논문에서는 과거와 현재에 걸친 방송 토크쇼의 진화적 궤적을 통해 스마트환경에 맞춰 스토리텔링 콘서트의 방향성을 가늠하기 위하여 한국의 방송 토크쇼를 각 사례들을 분석한다. 각 방송프로의 특징과 장점을 스토리텔링 콘서트의 관점에서 살펴보고 그 함의를 추출하고자 한다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between broadcasting media system contents and storytelling concert creativity by analyzing talk show programs in the korea. This paper draws attention to the fact that in the broadcasting programs talk show contents examination as storytelling concert view. This conception differs fundamentally from storytelling concert view of direct speech, listening to. This paper urges the restoration of the storytelling concert to reinforce media contents in more sophisticated ways. In this paper, we give a description of the a practical alternative of solutions to an create opportunities of storytelling concert on smart spaces for adapt to the environmental change in the beginning stages. Further study is needed to elaborate precisely the mechanisms by which the talk contents of storytelling concert view is expanded, and its role in media dynamics.

Smart Education, Creating Music Education Contents : Songs that Express How Beautiful You Are

스마트 미디어 시대, 스마트교육을 위한 인프라 기반조성이 활성화되어 가고 있는 현 상황에서 스마트교육의 개념을 음악교육에 적용하여 ‘음악교육콘텐츠’를 창작해 보고자 함이 이 논문의 목적이다. 음악교육콘텐츠는 교육에 적용될 정보와 자료를 단순히 디지털화 하여 제공하는 차원이 아니라 인문학적 재구성을 통해 스토리텔링의 형태로 구축된 콘텐츠로 개발되어야 한다. 이로써 혁신적인 음악지식의 재생산은 물론 다른 교과들과의 간학문적 성격의 교육으로 제공될 수 있다. 이것은 한 걸음 더 나아가 교육을 넘어서 새로운 형태의 문화향유로 이어질 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문에서는 “어찌 그리 아름다운지”를 표현하는 노래들을 핵심으로, 시대의 변화와 함께 이 노래들과 연관된 정황들을 추출하여 제시된 지식들 간에 서사적 연결을 갖도록 음악교육콘텐츠를 기획해 보고자 하였다. 시대의 어떤 단면을 대변하는 노래 한곡 한곡은 정적인 음악작품으로서만이 아니라 하나의 동적인 사건이기도 한 복합적 사회문화 현상이기 때문에 다양한 학문과의 융합을 보여주는 중요한 교육 소재가 될 수 있다. 따라서 “어찌 그리 아름다운지”를 표현하는 각 시대의 노래들을 통해 노래 자체만이 아니라 음악을 만들고 향유했던 역사적, 문화적 맥락과 함께 텍스트의 사회학적인 상황을 디지털 환경 안에서 구현하고자 하였다. 기술기반과 음악의 융합을 통해 새로운 가치를 창출하여 교육에 활용하고자 하려는 이 시도를 통해 음악교육의 의미와 역할이 더욱 확대되길, 또한 음악을 중심으로 타 예술분야, 문학, 역사 등과 다양한 테크놀로지를 접목한 융・복합 학습콘텐츠로서 시대가 요구하는 융합형 인재를 양성하는데 기여하길 기대한다. 특히 음악교육콘텐츠를 통해 학습하는 과정이 마치 놀이와도 같은 상황으로 인지될 수 있도록, 즉 놀이와 학습이 함께 어우러진 교육으로 기능할 수 있도록 디자인함으로써 창의력을 길러주는 미래 지향적인 교육모델로 자리 잡게 되기를 기대한다.

대중음악 콘서트의 서비스품질과 스토리텔링에 따른 만족도가 재관람의도에 미치는 영향

연구목적 대중음악 콘서트의 서비스품질과 스토리텔링에 따른 만족도가 재관람의도에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 연구방법 폐쇄형 설문지를 이용하여 측정도구에 의한 변인 간 영향관계를 통계적으로 검증하였다. 결과 첫째, 대중콘서트의 서비스품질은 만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대중콘서트의 스토리텔링은 만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대중콘서트 만족도는 재관람의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 대중음악 콘서트 장소 및 환경을 고품질화 하는데 노력해야 할 것이다. 또한 환경을 제공하는 미적 형태가 해당 콘서트의 스토리를 표현 할 수 있는 특징을 가진다면 더욱 효과가 클 것이다.

문화도시를 위한 시민예술교육의 융복합 프로그램 고찰

본 연구의 목적은 문화도시를 위한 시민예술교육의 내용과 활동의 사례를 통하여 시민예술교육의방향성을 찾고 우리 공동체에서 구현할 수 있는 융복합 프로그램을 제안하는 것이다. 문화도시의형성을 위해서는 시민의 삶 속에서 향유하는 예술이어야 하고 바람직한 시민성 함양이 무엇보다중요하다. 문화도시로 대표되는 유럽의 예술교육 프로그램을 토대로 고찰할 때, 개방성과 소통으로전 세대를 포괄하는 시민예술교육에서는 융복합적인 사고와 내용에 공통적인 시사점이 있다. 시민예술교육에서 ‘버스킹’과 ‘스토리텔링 콘서트’와 같은 연주방법은 이러한 특성을 잘 구현할 수 있는방법이다. 하지만 ‘버스킹’과 ‘스토리텔링 콘서트’가 도시의 문화로 안정적인 정착을 위해서는 공공예술의 개방성을 고려하여 무분별한 거리연주를 지양하고 지역의 정체성에 기초한 전문가 및 지자체와의 협업을 통한 지속적인 관심과 개발이 필요하다. The purpose of this study is to find a direction for the citizen arts-education aimed at creating culture city and propose convergence art education program that can be realized in our community through a case study on the contents and activities of the existing citizen arts-education. For the formation of culture city, enjoying of art in life and desirable citizenship is important. This paper searches for the direction for the citizen arts-education by examining the representative art education programs in European culture cities. Because citizens from various backgrounds of the society are the leading subjects of the citizen arts-education, expression of convergence art becomes a common factor, along with openness and rapport. The implication lies in the contents that express artistic ideas and imaginations that cover diverse generations. In citizen arts-education, performance methods of busking and storytelling concert are some of the skills that can implement these attributes well. For the stable settlement of the busking and storytelling concert as the culture of a city, continued interests and development through a collaboration with experts and local government based on the regional identity is required by considering the openness of public art, while rejecting from rash street performances.

디지털 음악학: 새로운 공간, 새로운 관계 맺기 -보존에서 창조로-

Musicologists who read, analyzed, and discussed sheet music and literature were given a new tool: digital technology. In musicology research, a new environment of study has been opened where new research methods and attempts can emerge. In order to explore what kind of music research can be derived under the digital environment, I first looked at the concepts and cases of digital humanities. Based on this, we discussed what kind of digital music research has been conducted so far and connected it with cases of digital musicology. Digital musicology can be defined as a concept that encompasses various research topics, scope, and methods, as well as innovation in the method of research and education in musicology. For example, in digital musicology research, you can visualize the data, show the network, and analyze them so that the relationship can be easily understood. In addition, it is possible to provide a vivid sense of presence of music as an auditory art while storytelling by connecting information and materials in space and time. In this respect, digital musicology will be positioned not only as an academic achievement but also as a new way for the public to enjoy culture. Digital musicology will have cultural potential that can be used in various fields, and through this, the meaning and role of musicology will be further expanded. .
