Vol.31 No.1

A revised new-version of the check list of Korean spiders, including recent systematic systems and new taxa, is presented in this paper. According to additional references in the last 5 years, a total of 795 species of 281 genera belonging to 48 families were checked in Korean spider fauna, and there are 69 species of 16 genera belonging to 2 families more than the previous check list(Kim & Kim, 2010). Typical examples of some changes in systematic systems of Korean spiders compared with the previous check list(Kim & Kim, 2010) are as follows : Two families, the family Trachelidae and the family Phrurolithidae, previously in the family Corinnidae are raised to family status(by Ramírez, 2014). In Korea, the family Trachelidae includes 3 genera(Gen. Cetonana, Gen. Paratrachelas, Gen. Trachelas) and the family Phrurolithidae includes 2 genera(Gen. Orthobula, Gen. Phrurolithus); The family Eutichuridae is raised to family status, which was previously in the family Miturgidae(by Ramírez, 2014). There is one genus(Gen. Cheiracanthium) in the family Eutichuridae in Korea; The family Zoridae is included as a junior synonym of the family Miturgidae(by Ramírez, 2014); The genus Itatsina is included as a junior synonym of the genus Prochora in the family Miturgidae(Bosselaers & Jocqué, 2013). One Pisaurid species(Dolomedes jirisanensis) and a Sparassid genus(Gen. Joopilia, Joopilia joopilis) are nomina nuda. Additionally, There are 22 unrecorded species, which was found by Korean National Park Research Institute(2012) but was not described as papers, check list of them is presented separately from the check list of Korean spiders in this paper. Linyphiidae(101 sp.), Theridiidae(84 sp.), Araneidae(79 sp.), Salticidae(73 sp.), and Lycosidae(57 sp.) spiders are the most in the Korean spider fauna, and species in that 5 families formed about 50%(394 sp.) of the whole Korean spiders. In zoogeographical distribution, Korean spider fauna was found containing 80 Pa, 37 Holarctic, 13 Co, and 173 Korean endemic species. And comparison with faunas of neighboring countries, 512 species of Korean spiders also live in Japan(64.4%), 497 species live in C(62.5%), 360 species live in Russia(45.3%) and 103 species live in Taiwan(13.1%).

The present study was conducted to establish a comprehensive checklist of spiders on Ulleungdo Island in Korea. Past records were compiled and four new surveys of spiders in Ulleungdo Island were conducted from May to September 2019. The surveys were conducted at 18 sites in seven of the nine major administrative districts. A total of 114 species from 84 genera in 26 families were identified from 958 individual spiders. The 21 spider species belonging to 10 families were added to the known spider fauna on Ulleungdo Island from the present study. The survey results were combined present results with previous records showed there were 242 species from 143 genera in 32 families on Ulleungdo Island. The species richness in each family was high, in the order Araneidae, Theridiidae, Salticidae, Linyphiidae, Tetragnathidae, Thomisidae, Gnaphodidae and Philodromidae. Four Korean endemic species, Coscinida ulleungensis Paik, 1995, Steatoda ulleungensis Paik, 1995, Drassodes taehadongensis Paik, 1995 and Phrurolithus pennatoides Seo, 2018, found only on Ulleungdo Island. In addition, the following six indigenous species that inhabit only in Ulleungdo Island: Euryopis octomaculata (Paik, 1995), Porrhomma montanum Jackson, 1913, Piratula knorri (Scopoli, 1763), Cladothela parva Kamura, 1991, Cladothela unciinsignita (Bösenberg and Strand, 1906) and Clubiona tongdaoensis Zhang, Yin, Bao and Kim, 1997. The zoogeographical distribution of spiders on Ulleungdo Island was classified into 9 cosmopolitan species (3.7%), 16 holarctic species (6.6%), 23 palearctic species (9.5%) and 6 Korean endemic species (2.4%). Fauna checklists are used to aid the assessment of biodiversity at various scales and are beneficial for the effective long-term management and use of national biological resources. The present study provides meaningful information for understanding national biodiversity.

        김주필(Joo Pil Kim),홍승희(Seung Hee Hong),김대희(Dae Hee Kim),서동범(Dong Beom Seo),장태원(Tae Won Jang) 한국거미연구소 2017 한국거미 Vol.33 No.1

From May 28th to August 8th in 2016, after investing the spider fauna in six streams located in Seoul. authors collected a total of 19 families 40 genera 54 species. Those streams were divided into the six-level based on water quality as follows: Choeng-gyecheon lever 1a (Hawangsim-ri, Seongdong-gu, Seoul), Yangjaecheon level 1b (Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seou), Dorimcheon level 2 (Sindaebang-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul), Tancheon level 3 (Samsung-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul), An-yangcheon level 4 (Ogeum Bridge, Guro-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul), Jungnangcheon level 6 (Seongsu-ldong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul). 9 families 11 genera 13 species. 13 families 22 genera 23 species, 9 families 16 genera 17 species, 9 families 13 genera 16 species, 11 families 15 genera 17 species, 10 families 15 genera 17 species were collected in the above streams. Authors’ analysis have found that stream at level 3 has the largest number of spiders, while level 1 and 6 have the fewest numbers. Spiders the six streams have in common are Theridiidae, Araneidae and Thomisidae. When analyzing spiders’ life styles on varying water quality, settling spiders have much more populations than wandering spiders at all levels of water. It is assumed that living conditions, including making webs under the bridges are more advantageous to settling spiders.

Spider fauna of Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and adjacent areas in Korea was surveyed in 2001-2003, 2013-2015, and 2017. Total of 34 surveyed areas across 10 provinces were divided into four main regions (east coast, mid-east mountain, midland, and west coast areas) in accordance with administrative districts and topography. Total of 273 species of 145 genera in 32 families were identified from 10,886 collected spiders. In conclusion, the spider fauna in the DMZ is 281 species of 147 genera in 32 families with 162 species of 99 genera in 23 families in the previous reports. This corresponds to about 37.6% of the Korean spiders as of 2015. The species richness among surveyed localities was ranged 45 species to 92 species. The species richness of each taxon is high in Araneidae, Salticidae, Linyphiidae and Theridiidae. Habitat generalists were 22 species and habitat specialists were 69 species. The 143 species were web builders and 130 species were wanderers by the outlined life style. In DMZ spiders, only 7 species, Thymoites ulleungensis, Arcuphantes pennatus, Lycosa coreana, Allagelena koreana, Cybaeus mosanensis and Cybaeus triangulus, Kishidaia coreana, were recognized as Korean endemic. Five species, Scytodes thoracica, T. ulleungensis, Lycosa labialis, Takeoa nishimurai, and Phrynarachne katoi, are rare species with a trend of decreasing density in recent years. Araneus rotundicornis has been discovered for the first time since its first report. This study may be useful in the conservative management and will contribute to knowledge of the distribution and biogeography of DMZ areas in the future.
