This paper focuses on Ahn Deok-mun establishing the title and status of Samsan Seowon in Uiryeong, Gyeongsangwoodo in the 18th century and his combining the science of Yeongnam Jwado and Woodo by worshiping three masters, that is, Hoijae, Toigye, and Nammyeong. Ahn placed importance of body and mind cultivation and maintained his academic tendency of practicing it in daily life, which was based on Nammyeong’s practice-centric academic style. Instead of learning under certain master, Ahn tried to emulate three masters representing Yeongnam and combine their science and virtuous acts. In an attempt to practice what he sought after, he commissioned a painter to paint Oksan, Dosan, and Deoksan Seowon that held a religious service for the three masters, respectively. He would turn the painting titled Samsanseowondo into a folding screen, set it up at Jungdang, and admire the learning and virtue of the three masters all the time. He also tried to experience the learning and virtue of the three masters first-hand by visiting their respective Seowons. He would carry Samsanseowondo and Samsandomyeong on his way to Oksan and Dosan Seowon and stop by renowned scholars during his journey to show them Samsanseowondo and ask for their comments. The scholars of Toigye School in Gyeongsang Jwado mostly agreed on the title and status of Samsan Seowon thanks to his efforts. In the process, he put Deokcheon Seowon, which held a religious service for Nammyeong in Gyeongsang Woodo where study was in stagnation, on the equal status as Dosan and Oksan Seowon, which were the headquarters of Yeongnam School. He also made people reconsider Nammyeong as a moralist on the same level as Hoijae and Toigye. Those efforts made by him led to the commendation of the learning and virtue of the three masters as well as Samsan Seowon and the increased recognition that the three masters should be admired and respected together who turned Yeongnam into Churojihyang. The old academic style of observing the editorials only written by the disciples that studied under certain masters was replaced with a new study of integration to inherit the sciences of the three masters as one. The scholars of Gyeongsang Woodo especially sought after the study of integration, engaged in active academic exchanges in the following years regardless of partisan and academic parties, and built a foundation for the revival of study. It is the significance of Ahn admiring and respecting the three masters together as well as Samsan Seowon. 이 글은 18세기 경상우도 의령에 살던 安德文이 三山書院이라는 명칭과 위상을 정립하고, 이를 통해 晦齋ㆍ退溪ㆍ南冥 세 선생을 나란히 追崇하고 表章한 것에 초점을 두고 살펴본 것이다. 안덕문은 심성수양을 중시하며 일상에서 이를 실천하는 학문성향을 견지하였는데, 이는 그가 살던 지역에 전승된 남명의 실천적 학풍을 기반으로 한 것이었다. 그는 어느 특정 스승에게 나아가 수학하지 않고 영남을 대표하는 세 선생의 학문과 덕행을 사숙하여 융합하려 하였다. 그는 이를 실천하기 위해 畵工에게 명하여 세 선생을 제향하는 玉山書院ㆍ陶山書院ㆍ德山書院을 그려 오게 해서 三山書院圖를 병풍으로 만들어 中堂에 펼쳐놓고 늘 세 선생의 학덕을 흠모하였다. 그는 또 삼산서원을 직접 찾아가 세 선생의 학덕을 몸소 체험하려 하였는데, 그가 살던 지역의 덕산서원은 전에 찾아간 적이 있었으므로 가보지 못한 경상좌도의 옥산서원과 도산서원을 찾아가 배알하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 그는 삼산서원도ㆍ三山圖銘 등을 준비해 가지고 옥산서원ㆍ도산서원을 찾아가 배알하였으며, 도중에 저명한 학자들을 방문하여 삼산서원도 등을 보여주며 논평을 요청하였다. 이러한 그의 노력에 의해 경상좌도 퇴계학파 학자들도 삼산서원이라는 명칭과 위상에 대해 동의하였다. 그럼으로써 그가 살고 있던 경상우도의 덕산서원을 조선후기 영남학파의 본산으로 인식된 경상좌도의 도산서원ㆍ옥산서원과 동등한 지위에 올려놓는 성과를 이룩했으며, 덕산서원에 제향된 남명을 회재ㆍ퇴계와 같은 반열의 도학자로 재인식하게 했다. 안덕문의 이러한 노력을 통해 三山書院 및 세 선생의 학덕이 나란히 表章되었으며, 영남을 鄒魯之鄕으로 만든 이 세 선생을 함께 존모해야 한다는 인식을 제고했다. 그리고 이를 통해 특정 문하의 師說만을 준수하는 학풍에서 벗어나 세 선생의 학문을 하나로 아울러 계승하고자 하는 새로운 융합의 학문을 제시하게 되었다. 특히 경상우도 학자들은 이런 융합의 학문을 지향해 그 다음 시대 당색과 학파에 구애되지 않고 활발히 학술교류를 하여 학문이 울흥하는 터전을 만들었다. 여기에서 안덕문이 삼산서원의 위상을 정립하고 세 선생을 나란히 추숭한 의미를 찾을 수 있다.
