This study aimed to introduce representative views of society by T. Hobbes (1588-1679), J. Locke (1632-1704) and J. J. Rousseau (1712-1789) and connect the visual art to such views to offer opportunities for in-depth instructions on art. The study researched to integrate the society and art by suggesting the views of society by the three scholars and relevant artworks to the views, because today's education on the society is largely divided into metaphysics and physics. The metaphysics education refers to a theoretical education on the society while the physical education means the practical education on the society. Such separated and fragmented education on the society makes the education superficial and isolated from life. Therefore, it is required to make an attempt on an integrated education on the society to associate life with education. The best form in art and education is that the art teachers have abundant knowledge on society, philosophy, ethics and history so that they run the class in the form of learning focused on various topics. Teachers may present different models for different perspectives and explain the theoretical backgrounds for the models. This will provide opportunities to students to experience new topics that break the stereotypical opinions on the topics. Moreover, since the teachers teach art, society, history, ethics and philosophy in combination, they can maximize the learning effect of students and immediately change the curriculum depending on the different teaching context. 본 연구는 홉스, 로크, 루소의 대표적인 사회관을 소개하고, 그에 따른 미술을 연결하여 동시대의 사회적.정치적 관점을 제공하고자 한다. 그래서 이번 연구는 홉스,로크, 루소의 자연관과 사회관을 제시하고 그들의 관점에 따라 미술 작품을 각각 3가지 양식으로 구분하여 사회과와 미술과의 통합을 시도하였다. 현재 우리는 사회에 대한 교육을 크게 형이상학적 교육과 형이하학적 교육으로 구분하여 지도하고 있다. 형이상학적 교육이란 사회에 대한 이론적 교육을 말하며, 형이하학적 교육은 사회에 대한 실제적 교육을 말한다. 이와 같은 사회에 대한 단절되고 분절된 교육은 교육을 피상적으로 만들고 교육을 삶으로부터 유린시키는 역할을 한다. 그래서 삶과 교육을 연관시키기 위해 사회에 대한 통합교육을 시도하는 것이 필요하다.

TianYuanShu and Numeral Systems in Eastern Asia

In Chinese mathematics, there have been two numeral systems, namely one in spoken language for recording and the other by counting rods for computations. They concerned with problems dealing with practical applications, numbers in them are concrete numbers except in the process of basic operations. Thus they could hardly develop a pure theory of numbers. In Song dynasty, 0 and TianYuanShu were introduced, where the coefficients were denoted by counting rods. We show that in this process, counting rods took over the role of the numeral system in spoken language and hence counting rod numeral system plays the role of that for abstract numbers together with the tool for calculations. Decimal fractions were also understood as denominate numbers but using the notions by counting rods, decimals were also admitted as abstract numbers. Noting that abacus replaced counting rods and TianYuanShu were lost in Ming dynasty, abstract numbers disappeared in Chinese mathematics. Investigating JianJie YiMing SuanFa(簡捷易明算法) written by Shen ShiGui(沈士桂) around 1704, we conclude that Shen noticed repeating decimals and their operations, and also used various rounding methods.
