        An experimental study on the heat transfer of the vertical and inclined thermosyphons in which condensation occured is performed to investigate its heat transfer performance. Water and CFC-30 have been used as the working fluids. The operating temperature and the inclination angle of thermosyphons have been used as the experimental parameters. The heat flux input and the inclination angle θtowards the vertical position were varied in steps. The overall heat transfer coefficients in the themosyphons were depended upon the inclination angle. In addition,it is to obtain the overall heat transfer coefficients and the characteristics as a operating temperature for the practical applications.

      • 개인 상점 에이전트의 설계 및 구현

        지금까지 인터넷을 기반으로 하는 웹 서비스는 일방적인 특성을 갖고 있었다. 사용자는 정해진 네비게이션 구조를 따라서만 웹 서비스를 이용할 수가 있었다. 이런 문제를 해결하는 방법중의 하나는 개인의 성향에 맞게 차별화된 서비스가 이루어지도록 하여, 그들이 좋아하는 서비스를 좀더 편리하게 이용할 수 있게 하는 것이다. 특히 이런 서비스를 전자 상점에 이용한다면 판매자는 더 많은 고객을 확보할 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문은 전자 상점에서 지능적인 에이전트를 구현해 이 같은 서비스가 이루어지도록 하였다. 개인 상점 에이전트는 각 개인의 성향을 알아내고, 더 나아가 사용자의 성향을 예측하여, 그들만의 개인 상점을 구축한다. 개인 상점에서는 각각의 개인이 선호하는 상품들을 진열하며, 선호할 것이라고 예상되는 상품을 추천한다. 본 논문에서는 개인 상점 에이전트의 설계 사항을 언급하고, 구현된 결과를 설명한다. 또한, 앞으로 더 연구되어야 할 부분에 관해서 제안한다.

      • 물을 전기분해하여 제조한 수소/산소 혼합가스의 특성에 관한 연구

        물을 전기분해하여 제조한 수소/산소 혼합가스의 응폭특성과 연소특성에 관해 연구하였다. 자동차용 점화코일을 이용한 고압방전장치를 제작하였으며, 이를 이용하여 응폭실험을 행한 결과에 따르면 강력한 외부로의 폭발이 있고난 후 진공이 형성되면서 응폭현상이 일어남을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 응폭특성이 수소/산소 혼합가스만의 유일한 특성인가에 대해서는 현재 결론을 내리기에는 어려운 실정이다. 또한 텅스텐금속의 연소실험결과에 따르면 수소/산소 혼합가스나 산소-LPG가스 모두 텅스텐금속을 연소시킬 수 있으므로,실제로는 대기중의 산소와 텅스텐금속이 산화반응을 일으켜 텅스텐산화물이 형성됨에 따라 녹는점이 1400-1600℃로 낮아진 결과로 판단되지만 보다 정확한 결론을 내리기 위해서는 좀 더 많은 연구가 필요하다고 판단된다.

      • 초음파 영상 시스템에서 제한 회절빔의 구현에 대한 연구

        The ultrasound imaging system is one of the most widely used diagnostic tools in medicine due to its advantages such as safety, low cost, providing real-time imaging. However, the resolution of imaging is still not quite satisfactory, and more improvements are needed. The resolution of this systems in generally dominated by the focusing capability and the ultrasonic properties tissue. This paper is about limited diffraction beam generation scheme in linear array transducer. limited diffraction beam in linear array trasducer is a superpsition of plan waves traveling in different directions along the imaging depth. Source distribution is obtande by spatially extending the synthesized plane waves, which requires complicated hardware for realization. In order to overcome this disadvantage while achieving the same field response, a method is proposed in this paper wherein limited diffraction beams are synthesized in the temporal through signal processing. This method is advantageous over the conventional focusing one in that the former reduces the amount of hardware required, is capable of achieving higher transmit power, and increases the SNR and contrast of image. Form simulation results, we can clearly observe its superiority to the conventional one-point transimit, continuos dynamic receive focusing in terms of mainlobe width and sidelobe level.

      • Influences of sputtering pressure and nitrogen concentration on the preferred orientation of reactively sputtered AIN films

        Aluminum nitride (AIN) thin films were fabricated on silicon and glass substrates by reative RF magnetron sputtering in Ar-N₂gas mixtures without substrate heating. It is essential to control the c-axis orientation of AIN films with deposition parameters for the applications of surface acoustic wave devices, since the piezoelectric properties are strongly dependent upon the crystallographic orientation of AIN film. The influences of sputtering pressure and nitrogen concentration on the crystallographic orientation are investigated empoloying X-ray diffraction (XRD), stress measurement and plasma analysis. It is found that the c-axis orientation of deposited film changes from parallel to perpendicular with respest to the substrate surface, as sputtering pressure decreases and nitrogen concentration increases. The magnitude of compressive stress increases with the decrease of sputtering pressue. the principal effect of decreasing sputtering pressure, therefore, is the enhancement of mean free path and adatomic mobilith at the film surface. In addition, the cause of hight c-axis orientation with the increase of nitrogen concentration may by attributed to the increase of N₂and N₂ions in the plasma, through the plasma analysis.

      • Federated Agents for Function Approximations

        This paper is concerning the development of the hybrid system of neural networks and genetic programming(GP)trees for problem domains where a complete input space can decomposed into several different subregions, and these are well represented in the form of oblique decision tree. The overall architecture of this system, called federated agents, consists of a facilitator, local agents, and boundary agents. Neural networks used as local agents, each of which is expert at different subregions, and GP trees serve as boundary agents. A boundary agent refer to the one that is specialized at only the borders of subregions where discontinuities or a few different patterns may coexist. The facilitator is responsible for choosing the local agent that is suitable for given input data using the information obtained from oblique decision tree. However, there is a large possibility of selecting the invalid local agent due to the incorrect prediction of decision tree, provided that input data is close enough to the boundaries. Such a situation can lead federated agents to produce a higher prediction error than that of a single neural network trained over a whole input space. To deal with this, the approach taken in this paper is that the facilitator selects the boundary agent instead of the local agent when input data is closely located to the certain border of subregions. In this way, even if decision tree yields an incorrect prediction, the performance of the system is less affected by it. The validity of our approach is examined by applying federated agents to the approximation of the function with discontinuities and the configuration of the midship section of bulk cargo ships.

        Fingerprint verification is one of the most reliable personal identification methods. However, manual fingerprint verification is so tedious, time-consuming, and expensive th it is incapable of meeting today's increasing performance requirements. An automatic fingerprit verification needs many processing. This paper deals with efficient methods for making directional image and thinning image in fingerprint image. Directional image is using for fingerprint classification and 1st matching. And thinning image based on minutiae detection.
