        An adaptive marine predator algorithm based optimization method for hood lightweight design

        The lightweight design of the hood is crucial for the structural optimization of an entire vehicle. However, traditional high-fidelity-based lightweight methods are time-consuming due to the complex structures of the hood, and the lightweight results heavily rely on engineering experiences. To this end, an improved adaptive marine predator algorithm (AMPA) is proposed to solve this problem. Compared to the original marine predator algorithm (MPA), the proposed AMPA adapts to optimization problems through three enhancements, including chaotic theory-based initialization, a mixed search strategy, and dynamic partitioning of iteration phases. Experimental comparisons of AMPA, MPA, and eight state-of-the-art algorithms are conducted on IEEE CEC2017 benchmark functions. AMPA outperforms the others in both 30- and 50-dimensional experiments. Friedman and Wilcoxon’s sign-rank tests further confirm AMPA’s superiority and statistical significance. An implicit parametric model of the hood is generated, and the critical design variables are determined through global sensitivity analysis to realize hood lightweight. The stacking method is employed to construct a surrogate meta-model of the hood to accelerate the optimization efficiency of the vehicle hood. Utilizing the meta-model and the proposed AMPA, the hood mass is reduced by 7.43% while all six static and dynamic stiffness metrics are enhanced. The effectiveness of the proposed optimization method is validated through finite element analysis.

        <P><I>Salmonella enterica</I> serovar Typhimurium, a Gram-negative bacterium, can cause infectious diseases ranging from gastroenteritis to systemic dissemination and infection. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this bacterial dissemination have yet to be elucidated. A study indicated that using the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) core as a ligand, <I>S</I>.</P><P><I>Salmonella enterica</I> serovar Typhimurium, a Gram-negative bacterium, can cause infectious diseases ranging from gastroenteritis to systemic dissemination and infection. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this bacterial dissemination have yet to be elucidated. A study indicated that using the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) core as a ligand, <I>S</I>. Typhimurium was able to bind human dendritic cell-specific intercellular adhesion molecule-3-grabbing nonintegrin (hCD209a), an HIV receptor that promotes viral dissemination by hijacking antigen-presenting cells (APCs). In this study, we showed that <I>S</I>. Typhimurium interacted with CD209s, leading to the invasion of APCs and potentially the dissemination to regional lymph nodes, spleen, and liver in mice. Shielding of the exposed LPS core through the expression of O-antigen reduces dissemination and infection. Thus, we propose that similar to HIV, <I>S</I>. Typhimurium may also utilize APCs via interactions with CD209s as a way to disseminate to the lymph nodes, spleen, and liver to initiate host infection.</P>

        FACILE SOLVOTHERMAL SYNTHESIS OF MESOSTRUCTURED CHITOSAN-COATED Fe 3 O 4 NANOPARTICLES AND ITS FURTHER MODIFICATION WITH FOLIC ACID FOR IMPROVING TARGETED DRUG DELIVERY

        Mesostructured chitosan-coated Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles (CS-coated Fe 3 O 4 NPs) were synthesizedby a facile one-step solvothermal method via using chitosan as a surface-modi¯cation agent. Subsequently, the surfaces of CS-coated Fe 3 O 4 NPs were successfully conjugated with folic acid(FA) molecules to obtain FA – CS-coated Fe 3 O 4 NPs for improving targeted drug delivery. Themorphology, chemical component and magnetic property of as-prepared composite nanoparticleswere characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray di®raction (XRD),dynamic light scattering (DLS), scanning transmission electron microscopy (SEM), transmissionelectron microscopy (TEM), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and vibrating sample magne-tometer (VSM). Furthermore, doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) as a model drug was encap-sulated for investigating drug release pattern in vitro. The results show that the magnetizationsaturation value of FA – CS-coated Fe 3 O 4 NPs was about 28.5 emu/g, exhibiting super-paramagnetic properties and mesostructure. DOX could be loaded to FA – CS-coated Fe 3 O 4 NPswith high capacity about 27.9%, and the release rate of DOX could be adjusted by the pH value. This work demonstrates that the prepared magnetic nanoparticles have potential applications inthe treatment of cancer as targeting drug delivery carriers.

As an essential residential structure, windows generally have the problem of single function. Compared with traditional windows and curtains, smart windows based on ZigBee can be based on external light intensity, temperature and humidity, rain and so on, Automatic light adjustment, anti-theft, privacy protection and many other advantages. This paper mainly introduces the automatic control window system based on ZigBee, so as to achieve intelligent effect.

        Characteristics and formation mode of salt-bearing series in typical rift valley basin, eastern China

        The Shulu Sag is a typical rift valley basin in easternChina, where the formation mechanism of Cenozoic salt-bearingseries has been poorly understood. In this paper, petrologic analysis,X-ray powder Diffraction (XRD) analysis and the analysis ofhalite ion concentrations of the first member of the Shahejie Formationfrom two drilling cores were conducted to interpret theformation mechanism of these salt-bearing series in Shulu Sag. Theresults indicated that the salt-bearing series is mainly composed of calcilutiteor mudstone at top and bottom, and anhydrite-bearing haliteand thin interbeds of salt-bearing calcilutite and dark grey shale inthe middle part. These thin interbeds with porphyritic or petalshapedglauberite crystals or some thinner dark grey shale interbedsseparated halites into several members with the average thicknessof only 9~12 cm in the two drilling holes. This typical rhythmicpattern due to frequent alternation of concentration was evidencedby the variation of chemical composition and hydrogen isotopes ofhalite fluid inclusions. The presence of large number of primaryfluid inclusions within chevron crystals and vertically orientedbottom-growth crystals showed that the halite were precipitated inshallow water (<60 cm). These features are direct evidence for thisfrequent alternation of dissolution and concentration of brines andterrigenous detrital-chemical shallow-water sedimentary model ofthese small rift-valley basins in eastern China.

      • Semi-numerical simulation for effects of different loadings on vibration behavior of 2D systems

        Based upon differential quadrature method (DQM) and nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT), an investigation on the free vibrations of 2D plate systems with nano-dimensions has been provided taking into account the effects of different mechanical loadings. In order to capture different mechanical loadings, a general form of variable compressive load applied in the axial direction of the plate system has been introduced. The studied plate has been constructed from two types of particles which results in graded material properties and nanoscale pores. The established formulation for the plate is in the context of a novel shear deformable model and the equations have been solved via a semi-numerical trend. Presented results indicate the prominence of material composition, nonlocal coefficient, strain gradient coefficient and boundary conditions on vibrational frequencies of nano-size plate.

      • An Algorithm for Inter-Satellite Autonomous Time Synchronization and Ranging in the Beidou Navigation Satellite System

        Aiming at the requirement of the autonomous time synchronization in BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), an algorithm for inter-satellite autonomous time synchronization and ranging is proposed. Based on the establishment of the inter-satellite link length model of the BDS, a series of simulation has been carried out through the use of STK (Satellite Tool Kit), which includes the simulation of the length changing rules, the length variation scale and its variation ratio. Based on these simulations, an analysis of the impact of satellite motion on the inter-satellite two-way time synchronization and range has been presented. In this algorithm, the inter-satellite clock-offset and range with minimal error are acquired by utilizing the combination of clock-offset fitting polynomial and range fitting polynomial based on the least square fitting of data generated from the inter-satellite two-way time synchronization. Empirical evaluation of the BDS simulation shows that our time synchronization error is 2ns, and ranging error is 2m under the condition of acceptable simulation error. With the application of the algorithm to the inter-satellite autonomous time synchronization and ranging, the high-accuracy measurement of inter-satellite clock-offset and range of BDS can be reached.

      • A GPS/GSM Based Vehicle Monitoring and Anti-Theft System

        Aiming at the requirement of remote monitoring and anti-theft system, a GPS/GSM based mobile phone remote vehicle monitoring and anti-theft system is developed. The system design contains two parts: hardware part and software part. On the hardware design, the STC89C52 chip is chosen as the main control chip, the u-blox NEO-6M chip is used as the vehicle position information module, and the GTIM900-B chip is adopted as the short message sending module. On the software design of the system, a single-chip microcomputer program, an analog serial port program, a GPS information processing program and a GSM short message sending program are implemented. In addition, the system has developed algorithms, including map displaying algorithm, speech alarming algorithm and short message trapping algorithm. When an abnormal moving distance exceeds 100 meters, the current vehicle position will be identified and displayed on the APP map of the mobile phone in real time for the vehicle owner, and the system will warning the owner that the vehicle has moved by speech alarming. The system is the low-cost, and can be applied extensively on the remote monitoring of personal vehicle and the remote trapping and location of the outside moving subject.

      • Rapid Preparation of Total Nucleic Acids from E. coli for Multi-purpose Applications

        Separate protocols are commonly used to prepare plasmid DNA, chromosomal DNA, or total RNA from E. coli cells. Various methods for the rapid preparation of plasmid DNA have been developed previously, but the preparation of the chromosomal DNA and total RNA are usually laborious. We report here a simple, fast, reliable, and cost-effective method to extract total nucleic acids from E. coli by direct lysis of the cells with phenol. Five distinct and sharp bands, which correspond to chromosomal DNA, plasmid DNA, 23S rRNA, 16S rRNA, and a mixture of small RNA, were observed when analyzing the prepared total nucleic acids on a regular 1-2% agarose gel. The simple and high-quality preparation of the total nucleic acids in a singe tube allowed us to rapidly screen the recombinant plasmid, as well as to simultaneously monitor the change of the plasmid copy number and rRNA levels during the growth of E. coli in the liquid medium.
