『Hwangjenaegyeong-taeso(黃帝內經太素)』 is a classic work of Yang Sang-seon(楊上善), which comprises original articles of 『Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)』 along with 『Somun(素問)』, 『Yeongchu (靈樞)』, and 『gapeul(甲乙)』, as a one of the oldest annotated publications. Therefore, its significance lies in that 『Hwangjenaegyeong-taeso(黃帝內經太素)』 is a valuable work to reconstruct the original text of 『Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)』 and comprehend its fundamental ideas. The only printed edition of 『Hwangjenaegyeong-taeso(黃帝內經太素)』 was photocopied in 1981, and is currently known as ``Orient Edition``. While ``Orient Edition`` was referred to as the draft for the latest revised edition, volume 21 and 27 were photocopied from hand-copied edition, not the original. The original publications of ``Orient Edition`` have been stocked at ``Haengwuseook(杏雨書屋)`` of Japan and were recently published. Hence, a comparative study between the two original volumes and the former ones has been conducted. Although the most of the differences were trivial, some may have led to distorted interpretation of the text. The errors of the former revised edition fall into a few specific categories, and the most significant ones were errors that were made during the hand-copying procedure. Moreover, there were errors that were made due to the low resolution of the former draft, and simple errors during the publishing. In this work, examples of such cases were presented, and the results were collected.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate splenic constipation syndrome(脾約證) in Shanghanlun by comparing 179 & 247 provisions. Methods : Including Shanghanlun, several texts which contain Cheng Wu-ji, Wan Mi-zhai, Qian Huang, Zhu Gong, Fang You-zhi, Yu Jia-yan, Zhang Lu, Cheng Ying-mao, Zhang Xi-ju, Chen Xiu-yuan, Wu Qian, Xu Ling-tai, You Zai-jing, Zhu Dan-xi`s opinion about the splenic constipation syndrome were chosen and comparative consideration was carried out. Results & Conclusions : The following conclusions could be drawn. 247 provisions in Shanghanlun is different from 179 provisions because the beginning of the each splenic constipation syndrome is different. The difference between 179 & 247 provisions are proved by comparing Mild Purgative Decoction which is used Taiyangyangming splenic constipation syndrome and Fructus Cannabis Pill which is used Dorsal pedal pulse splenic constipation syndrome. Cheng Wu-ji`s opinion that 179 & 247 provisions is different is meaningful because he is first investigated the different beginning of the splenic constipation syndrome. Several annotator`s opinion which oppose Cheng Wu-ji is majority and they set a high value on Jangbu(臟腑) factor. Several annotator`s opinion which agree Cheng Wu-ji is minority and they set a high value on splenic constipation syndrome also begins from Taiyangbing. The concept of overlapping of Taiyangyangming is different from the concept of Taiyangyangming. Consequently 179 & 247 provisions has to be distinguished.
Feasibility of fetoscopic laser coagulation in triplet pregnancy

Objective To report the experiences of triplet pregnancies complicated by twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) treated with fetoscopic laser coagulation at a single center. Methods Herein, we conducted a retrospective analysis to investigate the management and perinatal outcomes of triplet pregnancies with TTTS treated at a single institution between 2017 and 2022. Results Seven of the 98 triplet pregnancies (7.1%) encountered were complicated by TTTS, and all were dichorionic triamniotic triplets. Of the seven triplet pregnancies complicated by TTTS, four were treated with fetoscopic laser coagulation at our center, at a median gestational age of 20 weeks. No procedure-related complications or maternal complications were observed. The survival rate was higher and perinatal outcomes were better in fetoscopic laser coagulation cases than in other management cases. Four donor and four recipient triplets survived, with a median gestational age of 33 weeks at delivery. Although there were no cases of poor neonatal outcomes, one case was diagnosed with white matter injury, suspected to be hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy on postnatal investigation. Conclusion Fetoscopic laser coagulation is a feasible treatment option for triplet TTTS, provided the attending specialists have extensive experience with this technique.

Objectives: This study investigated quality among three herb medicine extract granules(DSGOST) which were made from different companies to check quality control of herb medicine extract granules. Methods: we selected three DSGOST extract granules which were made from different companies. And we experimented extract granules by method from K.P(Korean Pharmacopoeia), K.H.P(Korean Herbal Pharmacopoeia) of KFDA. Results: In qualitative analysis of DSGOST, we indentified Akebiae Caulis (木通), Asari Herba Cum Radix (細辛), Evodiae Fructus (吳茱萸) in three different DSGOST extract granules. In quantitative analysis of DSGOST, Medication A,B,C contained similar content of Paeoniflorin & Glycyrrhizic acid. However Medication B contains especially lowest value of Cinnamic acid & total Decursin. Conclusions: Herb medicine extract granules have different contents of ingredients although those were made by same prescription. And these differences may influence medicinal effect to patients. So we need to make system of quality control with various research of quantitative & qualitative analysis about herb medicine extract granules.

<P><B>Background/Aims</B></P><P>Interferon-γ-inducible protein 10 (IP-10) plays important roles in the pathogenesis of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. We investigated the association between serum IP-10 levels and liver pathology in patients with chronic HCV infection.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>The serum IP-10 concentration was assessed in 85 patients with chronic HCV infection using a solid phase sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and a liver biopsy specimen was obtained. The pathology was scored using the Knodell histologic activity index (HAI).</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Of the 85 patients, 58 had genotype 1 HCV infection, 21 had genotype non-1, and 6 were undetermined. The serum IP-10 levels did not differ between patients infected with genotype 1 and genotype non-1 (p=0.472). In patients with genotype 1 infection, the total HAI score and the stage of fibrosis were highly correlated with the serum IP-10 level (r=0.555, r=0.578, p<0.001). Furthermore, the serum IP-10 concentrations of patients with severe fibrosis (stages 3, 4) were higher than those of patients with mild fibrosis (stages 0 to 2; 214.4 vs. 72.3 pg/mL, p=0.002) among patients with genotype 1 infection. However, in patients without genotype 1 infection, the histopathology was not associated with the serum IP-10 level. A multivariate analysis showed that serum IP-10 was an independent predictor of fibrosis (stages 3, 4) in patients with genotype 1 infection (odds ratio, 1.034; 95% confidence interval, 1.006 to 1.064; p=0.018).</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Serum IP-10 concentration was significantly correlated with the severity of liver histology in genotype 1 HCV infection.</P>

O-Methyltransferases (OMTs) transfer a methyl group from S-adenosylmethionine to a hydroxyl group of an acceptor. One group of OMTs is the caffeoyl-CoA O-methyltransferase type, which is involved in the biosynthesis of monolignol. In this study, OsOMT26 was cloned from Oryza sativa and the recombinant OsOMT26 protein was characterized. OsOMT26 used not only caffeoyl-CoA as a substrate but also different flavonoids such as luteolin and tricetin. However, when caffeoyl-CoA was used as the substrate, the reactivity of OsOMT26 was approximately 6.6-fold better than when either luteolin or tricetin was used. This result demonstrated that OsOMT26 displayed the typical properties characteristic of CCoAOMT. Molecular modeling followed by site-directed mutagenesis was employed to examine why caffeic acid or caffeoyl-CoAwas a better substrate than tricetin. One amino acid, Asp210, turned out to be critical for substrate binding, and sitedirected mutagenesis of Asp to Glu improved the enzyme's reactivity toward tricetin.

<P>Gallic acid (GA) is generally distributed in a variety of plants and foods, and its various biological effects have been reported. Here, we investigated the effects of GA and/or caspase inhibitors on Calu-6 and A549 lung cancer cells in relation to cell death and reactive oxygen species (ROS). The growths of Calu-6 and A549 cells were diminished with an IC(50) of approximately 30 and 150 μM GA at 24 h, respectively. GA also inhibited the growth of primary human pulmonary fibroblast (HPF) cells with an IC(50) of about 300 μM. GA induced apoptosis and/or necrosis in lung cancer cells, which was accompanied by the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP, δψ(m)). The percents of MMP (δψ(m)) loss and death cells by GA were lower in A549 cells than in Calu-6 cells. Caspase inhibitors did not significantly rescued lung cancer cells from GA-induced cell death. GA increased ROS levels including O(2) (?-) and induced GSH depletion in both lung cancer cells. Z-VAD (pan-caspase inhibitor) did not decrease ROS levels and GSH depleted cell number in GA-treated lung cancer cells. In conclusion, GA inhibited the growth of lung cancer and normal cells. GA-induced lung cancer cell death was accompanied by ROS increase and GSH depletion.</P>
Persistence of Chinese Milk Vetch(Astragalus sinicus L.) Seed in Naturally Reseeded CMV-Rice Field

Field experiments were conducted to investigate persistence of Chinese milk vetch(CMV) seed under naturally reseeded CMV-rice cropping systems during the period of 2007~2009. Persistence of the CMV seeds were evaluated in the naturally reseeded CMV-rice field on different tillage methods and soil depths based on the seed number recovered and the seed longevity in soil. Field observation in the naturally reseeded CMV rice field showed that as many as 917~2,185 CMV seeds m-2 were found from 0~15cm soil depth in the rotary tillage and 250~10,105 CMV seeds in minimum tillage rice cultivation in autumn. The recovered seed germinated 25~33%, 23~43% but still had high percentage of hard seed having 64~72% and 51~77%. Field experiment showed that the CMV seedling still emerged even after 2 years of continuous destructive killing of emerged CMV plant by rotary tillage in naturally reseeded CMV-rice field, indicating that CMV seeds persistent at least two years in rice field.

Background: Nevus simplex, a part of capillary malformation (CM), is one of the common birthmark. Nevus simplex known as salmon patch or angel’s kiss is located on glabella, upper eyelid, and nape and tends to fade around the ages of 1-4 years. However, medial fronto-facial capillary malformation differs from typical nevus simplex by (1) wider location on forehead, (2) more intense color, and (3) incomplete involution. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate clinical features and natural history of CM on midline of forehead. Methods: We prospectively recruited patients with CM on midline of forehead from 2009 to 2016. We checked clinical features including age, date of visit, birth history, family history, shape, location, size, concurrent anomalies, and natural course. Results: Sixty-four patients (41 girls; 65.0%) were included. The mean age at initial visit was 7.5 years (20 days to 45 years). Lesions on the forehead were band or linear shaped (54.0%), V-shaped (25.4%) and ill-defined oval to geographic (15.9%). Family history of CM was checked in 9.4% (6/64). 28.1% (18/64) of patients accompanied infantile hemangioma. Neurological abnormality was observed in 4.6%. In 36 infantile patients who were regularly followed up until the ages of 4 years, incomplete resolution were found in 94.4% (60/64) and unchanging in 5.6% (4/64). Conclusion: We found CM on midline of forehead is different from nevus simplex considering its peculiar presentation and incomplete resolution.
