Phytochemical investigation of Verbascum thapsus led to the isolation and identification of one new iridoid compound named verbathasin A, along with ten known compounds. The structure and relative stereochemistry of verbathasin A were elucidated by analysis of spectroscopic data. All the isolates except 10-deoxyeucommiol and ajugol were tested for antiangiogenic and antiproliferative activities, and compounds luteolin and 3-O-fucopyranosylsaikogenin F showed promising antiproliferative activities, with an obvious effect of inducing apoptosis of A549 lung cancer cells.

A novel anthraquinone diamino-bridged bis(β-cyclodextrin) 2 was synthesized. The inclusion complexation behaviors of the native β-cyclodextrin 1 and the novel bis(β-cyclodextrin) 2 with guests, such as acridine red (AR), neutral red (NR), ammonium 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS), sodium 2-(p-toluidinyl) naphthalenesulfonate (TNS) and rhodamine B (RhB) were investigation by fluorescence, circular dichroism and 2D NMR spectroscopy. The spectral titrations were performed in phosphate buffer (pH 7.20) at 25 oC to give the complex stability constants (Ks) and Gibbs free energy changes (-DG0) for the stoichiometric 1:1 inclusion complexation of host 1 and 2 with guests. The results indicated that the novel bis(β-cyclodextrin) 2 greatly enhanced the original binding affinity of the native β-cyclodextrin 1. Typically, bis(b -cyclodextrin) 2 showed the highest binding constant towards ANS up to 34.8 times higher than that of 1. The 2D NMR spectra of bis(β-cyclodextrin) 2 with RhB and TNS were performed to confirm the binding mode. The increased binding affinity and molecular selectivity of guests by bis(β-cyclodextrin) 2 were discussed from the viewpoint of the size/shape-fit concept and multipoint recognition mechanism.
Constructing foldable cylindrical surfaces via unfolded waterbomb origami units
Zhao Yan,Wei Yinglei,Jia Yiyang,Li Shiling,Zhang Mingyue,Zeng Lanling,Yang Yang,Mitani Jun 한국CDE학회 2022 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.9 No.4
Origami tessellations have shown the potential to be utilized for approximating curved target surfaces by folding a set of elemental units. As those units are in partially folded states, the origami approximation captures the outline of the target while demonstrating a corrugated surface. In this paper, we focus on the cylindrical surface and propose a method for constructing its discrete version via square or rectangular units with crease patterns inspired by the waterbomb tessellation. We unify the unit size through optimization to realize cost-efficient constructions. Three-dimensional curved structures are deployed by folding collinear creases between adjacent rows of units and the other creases in each row are remained unfolded. The deployed structure can still be folded to a compact state by folding all creases. To flexibly approximate the outline of the target surface, we analyse relationships between the width and height of the rectangular unit and utilize variations of the waterbomb tessellation to control the region of the origami structure when fully folded. The proposed method provides a novel solution to the so-called inverse-origami-design problem for generating foldable cylindrical surfaces using unfolded waterbomb origami units.

Objective: This study was performed to examine whether the porcine glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 1 (GOT1) gene has important functions in regulating adipocyte differentiation. Methods: Porcine GOT1 knockout and overexpression vectors were constructed and transfected into the mouse adipogenic 3T3-L1 cells. Lipid droplets levels were measured after 8 days of differentiation. The mechanisms through which GOT1 participated in lipid deposition were examined by measuring the expression of malate dehydrogenase 1 (MDH1) and malic enzyme (ME1) and the cellular nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) content. Results: GOT1 knockout significantly decreased lipid deposition in the 3T3-L1 cells (p< 0.01), whereas GOT1 overexpression significantly increased lipid accumulation (p<0.01). At the same time, GOT1 knockout significantly decreased the NADPH content and the expression of MDH1 and ME1 in the 3T3-L1 cells. Overexpression of GOT1 significantly increased the NADPH content and the expression of MDH1 and ME1, suggesting that GOT1 regulated adipocyte differentiation by altering the NADPH content. Conclusion: The results preliminarily revealed the effector mechanisms of GOT1 in regulating adipose differentiation. Thus, a theoretical basis is provided for improving the quality of pork and studies on diseases associated with lipid metabolism. A novel anthraquinone diamino-bridged bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 was synthesized. The inclusion complexation behaviors of the native $\beta$ -cyclodextrin 1 and the novel bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 with guests, such as acridine red (AR), neutral red (NR), ammonium 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS), sodium 2-(p-toluidinyl) naphthalenesulfonate (TNS) and rhodamine B (RhB) were investigation by fluorescence, circular dichroism and 2D NMR spectroscopy. The spectral titrations were performed in phosphate buffer (pH 7.20) at 25 ${^{\circ}C}$ to give the complex stability constants (Ks) and Gibbs free energy changes (−${\Delta}G^0$) for the stoichiometric 1:1 inclusion complexation of host 1 and 2 with guests. The results indicated that the novel bis($\beta$ -cyclodextrin) 2 greatly enhanced the original binding affinity of the native $\beta$ -cyclodextrin 1. The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation between cattle breeds and deposit of adipose tissues in different positions and the gene expressions of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma ($PPAR{\gamma}$), fatty acid synthase (FASN), and Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (ACADM), which are associated with lipid metabolism and are valuable for understanding the physiology in fat depot and meat quality. Yanbian yellow cattle and Yan yellow cattle reared under the same conditions display different fat proportions in the carcass. To understand this difference, the expression of $PPAR{\gamma}$, FASN, and ACADM in different adipose tissues and longissimus dorsi muscle (LD) in these two breeds were analyzed using the Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction method (qRT-PCR). The result showed that $PPAR{\gamma}$ gene expression was significantly higher in adipose tissue than in LD in both breeds. $PPAR{\gamma}$ expression was also higher in abdominal fat, in perirenal fat than in the subcutaneous fat (p<0.05) in Yanbian yellow cattle, and was significantly higher in subcutaneous fat in Yan yellow cattle than that in Yanbian yellow cattle. On the other hand, FASN mRNA expression levels in subcutaneous fat and abdominal fat in Yan yellow cattle were significantly higher than that in Yanbian yellow cattle. Interestingly, ACADM gene shows greater fold changes in LD than in adipose tissues in Yan yellow cattle. Furthermore, the expressions of these three genes in lung, colon, kidney, liver and heart of Yanbian yellow cattle and Yan yellow cattle were also investigated. The results showed that the highest expression levels of $PPAR{\gamma}$ and FASN genes were detected in the lung in both breeds. The expression of ACADM gene in kidney and liver were higher than that in other organs in Yanbian yellow cattle, the comparison was not statistically significant in Yan yellow cattle.
A virtual synchronous generator adopting dynamic damping without frequency detection
Yan Du,Hanguang Zhao,Xianchuang Zhang,Xiangzhen Yang 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5
The grid-connected inverter implementing the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) controller can take advantage of the virtual inertia and damping winding to improve the stability of the frequency and voltage of the power grid. However, PLL in virtual damping winding weakens the damping effect during the transient and increases the complexity of the system. In this paper, a leading-network based damping controller without PLL is proposed after analyzing the inverse effect of PLL on the performance of the damping winding using VSG small-signal models. A phase margin-constrained straightforward parameter setting method for proposed VSG is presented. The correctness of the design is verified on a 5kW hardwarein-loop inverter platform.
