      • Clinical and Pathological Factors Related to the Prognosis of Chinese Patients with Stage Ⅰb To Ⅱb Cervical Cancer

        Xie, Xiu-Zhen,Song, Kun,Cui, Baoxia,Jiang, Jie,Zhang, You-Zhong,Wang, Bo,Yang, Xing-Sheng,Kong, Bei-Hua Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.11

Objective: The aim of this retrospective study is to analyze the clinical and pathological factors related to the prognosis of Chinese patients with stage Ib to IIb cervical cancer. Methods and Results: 13 clinical pathological factors in 255 patients with stage Ib to IIb cervical cancer undergoing radical hysterectomy and systematic lymphadenectomy were analyzed to screen for factors related to prognosis. The cumulative 5-year survival of the 255 patients was 75.7%. The result of the univariate analysis suggested that clinical stage, cell differentiation, depth of cervical stromal invasion, parametrial tissue involvement, and lymph node metastasis were prognostic factors for patients with stage Ib to IIb cervical cancer (P<0.05). Compared with cases with involvement of iliac nodes, obturator nodes, or inguinal lymph nodes, cases with metastasis to the common iliac lymph nodes had a poorer prognosis (P<0.05). Cases with involvement of four or more lymph nodes had a poorer prognosis than those with involvement of three or fewer lymph nodes (P<0.05). Using multivariate Cox proportional hazards model regression analysis, non-squamous histological type, poor differentiation, parametrial tissue involvement, and outer 1/3 stromal invasion were found to be independently related to patients poor prognosis (P<0.05). Conclusion: Non-squamous histological type, poor cell differentiation, parametrial tissue involvement, and outer 1/3 stromal invasion are the independent poor prognostic factors for patients with stage Ib to IIb cervical cancer.

Selection of Reference Genes for Real-time Quantitative PCR Normalization in the Process of Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici Infecting Wheat

        Xie, Li-hua,Quan, Xin,Zhang, Jie,Yang, Yan-yan,Sun, Run-hong,Xia, Ming-cong,Xue, Bao-guo,Wu, Chao,Han, Xiao-yun,Xue, Ya-nan,Yang, Li-rong The Korean Society of Plant Pathology 2019 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.35 No.1

Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici is a soil borne pathogenic fungus associated with wheat roots. The accurate quantification of gene expression during the process of infection might be helpful to understand the pathogenic molecular mechanism. However, this method requires suitable reference genes for transcript normalization. In this study, nine candidate reference genes were chosen, and the specificity of the primers were investigated by melting curves of PCR products. The expression stability of these nine candidates was determined with three programs-geNorm, Norm Finder, and Best Keeper. $TUB{\beta}$ was identified as the most stable reference gene. Furthermore, the exopolygalacturonase gene (ExoPG) was selected to verify the reliability of $TUB{\beta}$ expression. The expression profile of ExoPG assessed using $TUB{\beta}$ agreed with the results of digital gene expression analysis by RNA-Seq. This study is the first systematic exploration of the optimal reference genes in the infection process of Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici.

Preparation of solid acid catalyst packing AAO/SBA-15-SO3H and application for dehydration of xylose to furfural

        Derun Hua,Mingde Yang,Yulong Wu,PanPan Li,Yu Chen,Jie Dang,Quanhua Xie,Ji Liu,Xiao-yin Sun 한국공업화학회 2013 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.19 No.4

The solid acid catalyst packing AAO/SBA-15-SO3H was prepared by the co-condensation and grafting method with porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) as support. FT-IR, SEM and TEM were applied to characterize the prepared samples. Results showed that catalysts prepared by two methods both contained active centers, and SBA-15 nanorod arrays grow inside a porous alumina membrane AAO and are perpendicular to the substrate. Their catalytic performances were tested for dehydration of xylose to furfural. The conversion of xylose and selectivity of furfural were 90% and 74% on the AAO/SBA-15-SO3H(C) catalyst prepared by the co-condensation method, respectively. The deactivation and regeneration of the AAO/SBA-15-SO3H(C) catalyst for the dehydration of xylose were also investigated, the activity of catalyst treated by 30 wt.% H2O2 almost was recovered.

Cloning and Iron Transportation of Nucleotide Binding Domain of Cryptosporidium andersoni ATP-Binding Cassette (CaABC) Gene

        Ju-Hua Wang,Xiu-Heng Xue,Jie Zhou,Cai-Yun Fan,Qian-Qian Xie,Pan Wang 대한기생충학열대의학회 2015 The Korean Journal of Parasitology Vol.53 No.3

Cryptosporidium andersoni ATP-binding cassette (CaABC) is an important membrane protein involved in substrate transport across the membrane. In this research, the nucleotide binding domain (NBD) of CaABC gene was amplified by PCR, and the eukaryotic expression vector of pEGFP-C1-CaNBD was reconstructed. Then, the recombinant plasmid of pEGFP-C1-CaNBD was transformed into the mouse intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) to study the iron transportation function of CaABC. The results indicated that NBD region of CaABC gene can significantly elevate the transport efficiency of Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, and HCO₃- in IECs (P<0.05). The significance of this study is to find the ATPase inhibitors for NBD region of CaABC gene and to inhibit ATP binding and nutrient transport of CaABC transporter. Thus, C. andersoni will be killed by inhibition of nutrient uptake. This will open up a new way for treatment of cryptosporidiosis.

Two-Step Oxidation of Refractory Gold Concentrates with Different Microbial Communitiess

        ( Guo-hua Wang ),( Jian-ping Xie ),( Shou-peng Li ),( Yu-jie Guo ),( Ying Pan ),( Haiyan Wu ),( Xin-xing Liu ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2016 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.26 No.11

Bio-oxidation is an effective technology for treatment of refractory gold concentrates. However, the unsatisfactory oxidation rate and long residence time, which cause a lower cyanide leaching rate and gold recovery, are key factors that restrict the application of traditional bio-oxidation technology. In this study, the oxidation rate of refractory gold concentrates and the adaption of microorganisms were analyzed to evaluate a newly developed two-step pretreatment process, which includes a high temperature chemical oxidation step and a subsequent bio-oxidation step. The oxidation rate and recovery rate of gold were improved significantly after the two-step process. The results showed that the highest oxidation rate of sulfide sulfur could reach to 99.01 % with an extreme thermophile microbial community when the pulp density was 5%. Accordingly, the recovery rate of gold was elevated to 92.51%. Meanwhile, the results revealed that moderate thermophiles performed better than acidophilic mesophiles and extreme thermophiles, whose oxidation rates declined drastically when the pulp density was increased to 10% and 15%. The oxidation rates of sulfide sulfur with moderate thermophiles were 93.94% and 65.73% when the pulp density was increased to 10% and 15%, respectively. All these results indicated that the twostep pretreatment increased the oxidation rate of refractory gold concentrates and is a potential technology to pretreat the refractory sample. Meanwhile, owing to the sensitivity of the microbial community under different pulp density levels, the optimization of microbial community in bio-oxidation is necessary in industry.

      • Involvement of Cdc25c in Cell Cycle Alteration of a Radioresistant Lung Cancer Cell Line Established with Fractionated Ionizing Radiation

        Li, Jie,Yang, Chun-Xu,Mei, Zi-Jie,Chen, Jing,Zhang, Shi-Min,Sun, Shao-Xing,Zhou, Fu-Xiang,Zhou, Yun-Feng,Xie, Cong-Hua Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.10

Cancer patients often suffer from local tumor recurrence after radiation therapy. Cell cycling, an intricate sequence of events which guarantees high genomic fidelity, has been suggested to affect DNA damage responses and eventual radioresistant characteristics of cancer cells. Here, we established a radioresistant lung cancer cell line, A549R, by exposing the parental A549 cells to repeated ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation with a total dose of 60 Gy. The radiosensitivity of A549 and A549R was confirmed using colony formation assays. We then focused on examination of the cell cycle distribution between A549 and A549R and found that the proportion of cells in the radioresistant S phase increased, whereas that in the radiosensitive G1 phase decreased. When A549 and A549R cells were exposed to 4 Gy irradiation the total differences in cell cycle redistribution suggested that G2-M cell cycle arrest plays a predominant role in mediating radioresistance. In order to further explore the possible mechanisms behind the cell cycle related radioresistance, we examined the expression of Cdc25 proteins which orchestrate cell cycle transitions. The results showed that expression of Cdc25c increased accompanied by the decrease of Cdc25a and we proposed that the quantity of Cdc25c, rather than activated Cdc25c or Cdc25a, determines the radioresistance of cells.

Effect of Temperature on Resistivity of CFRP Materials with Added Carbon Powder or Nano-silica

        Dan Liu,Jie Yin,Rong-gui Liu,Shu Ping,Hui-guang Yin,Gui-hua Xie 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.23 No.4

This paper presents an experimental investigation on the effect of temperature on resistivity of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) materials. A series of tests were conducted on three types of CFRP materials, namely pure CFRP material, CFRP with carbon powder (4% in weight) and CFRP with nano-silica (4% in weight). Test results showed that adding carbon powder into the epoxy resin decreases the initial electric resistance R0 and initial volume resistivity ρ0 while adding nano-silica increases R0 and ρ0 compared to pure CFRP material. Preheating cycle test results showed that the volume resistivity of all three types of specimens linearly increases with increasing temperature. CFRP with added nano-silica exhibits higher temperature sensitivity than CFRP with added carbon powder compared to the lowest temperature sensitivity for pure CFRP material. In addition, temperature cycle test results showed that CFRP specimens have approximately stable values of volume resistivity. Both CFRP specimens with added carbon powder or nano-silica exhibit a recognizable trend of first decrease and then increase in volume resistivity with increasing temperature both during heating and cooling cycles. CFRP with added carbon powder mainly shows Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) effect in the temperature range of −40 to 40oC and Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) effect from 40 to 80oC. CFRP with added nano-silica mainly exhibits PTC effect in the temperature domain of −15 to 80oC and NTC effect from −40 to −15oC. A mathematical-physical model with respect to the thermal effect was presented based on the Eshelby-Mori-Tanaka (EMT) approach and mesomechanics method. The results obtained with the model agree well with the test results considering the temperature domain of PTC effect, which indicates that the proposed model is effective in characterizing the variation of fractional change in resistance (ΔR/R0) at varying temperature.

On the Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty function in a risk model with delayed claims

Wei Zou,Jie-hua Xie 한국통계학회 2012 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.41 No.3

In this paper, we consider an extension to the continuous time risk model for which the occurrence of the claim may be delayed and the time of delay for the claim is assumed to be random. Two types of dependent claims, main claims and by-claims, are defined, where every by-claim is induced by the main claim. The time of occurrence of a by-claim is later than that of its associate main claim and the time of delay for the occurrence of a byclaim is random. An integro-differential equations system for the Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty function is established using the auxiliary risk models. Both the system of Laplace transforms of the Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty functions and the Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty functions with zero initial surplus are obtained. From Lagrange interpolating theorem, we prove that the Gerber–Shiu discounted penalty function satisfies a defective renewal equation. Exact representation for the solution of this equation is derived through an associated compound geometric distribution. Finally, examples are given with claim sizes that have exponential and a mixture of exponential distributions.
