Enhanced Cloud Service Discovery for Naive users with Ontology based Representation

        ( Viji Rajendran V ),( Swamynathan S ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.10 No.1

Service discovery is one of the major challenges in cloud computing environment with a large number of service providers and heterogeneous services. Non-uniform naming conventions, varied types and features of services make cloud service discovery a grueling problem. With the proliferation of cloud services, it has been laborious to find services, especially from Internet-based service repositories. To address this issue, services are crawled and clustered according to their similarity. The clustered services are maintained as a catalogue in which the data published on the cloud provider`s website are stored in a standard format. As there is no standard specification and a description language for cloud services, new efficient and intelligent mechanisms to discover cloud services are strongly required and desired. This paper also proposes a key-value representation to describe cloud services in a formal way and to facilitate matching between offered services and demand. Since naive users prefer to have a query in natural language, semantic approaches are used to close the gap between the ambiguous user requirements and the service specifications. Experimental evaluation measured in terms of precision and recall of retrieved services shows that the proposed approach outperforms existing methods.

      • Performance Evaluation of ASMR with QRS and RZLSR Routing Scheme in Mobile Ad-hoc and Sensor Networks

Anna Saro Vijendran,J. Viji Gripsy 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.7 No.6

Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is referred as continuously self configuring and infrastructure-less network of mobile devices connected without wires. The Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is an emerging area and some of the studies came out with association of MANET, which is referred as MASNET. This paper evaluates the performance of Adaptive Secured Multipath Routing (ASMR) when it is associated with QRS and RZLSR proposals. Multipath routing is an efficient technique in handling failovers and it improves the Quality of Service (QOS). Increasing the number of vulnerabilities imposed us to use the secured multipath routing. The proposed technique is adaptable for MANET and WSN, when they deal with unreliable data communications. ASMR is desperately outperforming when it is associated with RZLSR compared to QRS scheme and it is assisting for secure data transmission.

Selection of Suitable Pipe Material for New Water Distribution Network Using Analytic Hierarchy Process - A Case Study of Athivilai Village of India

Ajitha Thankanadar Thavamony,Viji Rajagopa 대한토목학회 2024 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.28 No.2

This study was made to design a new water distribution network for the Athivilai village of Tamilnadu, India. The associated problems of the village are improper water supply for growing water requirements during the summer season. The cost, service life, and material type play an important role when designing a new network. In this study, the suitable pipe material is chosen by using Analytical Hierarchy Process. The criteria selected for Analytic Hierarchy Process include Cost, Service life, Ease of maintenance, Corrosion, Leakage, and Internal pressure. The results show that the Ductile Iron pipe ranks top position followed by High Density Polyethylene, Polyvinyl Chloride, and Galvanized iron. After selecting the pipe material, the design of water distribution network is done in EPANET 2.0 software. The results show that the diameter of pipes ranges from 40 mm to 250 mm. Since the corrosion of smaller diameter Ductile Iron pipes are faster, the High Density Polyethylene pipe which acquires the second rank can be used for diameters smaller than 80 mm. For pipes with a diameter greater than 80 mm, Ductile Iron pipes are used. Furthermore, since a continuous system of supply is designed, the pressure rises above 60 m during non peak hours which indicates that the pipes are constantly subjected to internal pressure. Both the selected pipes can withstand high internal pressure which confirms the results obtained by the Analytic hierarchy process are suitable.

Elucidating the effect of growth promoting endophytic fungus Piriformospora indica for seedling stage salinity tolerance in contrasting rice genotypes

        Reshna O. P.,Beena R.,Joy M.,Viji M. M.,Roy S. 한국작물학회 2022 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.25 No.5

The growth and productivity of rice ( Oryza sativa L.) has been hampered by high soil salinity. Microbial endophytes, the most significant soil microorganisms, boost plant output per unit area by changing physiologically, and ecologically, allowing crop development in saline soils or climates with biotic and abiotic stresses. Piriformospora indica , an endophytic fungus, promotes plant development while also increasing plant resilience to environmental stresses such as salinity. Here we analyzed the beneficial effect of P. indica association on rice seedlings of both tolerant variety VTL-6 and susceptible variety Manu Ratna during different levels of salinity stress conditions (0, 100, 150, 200, 300 and 500 mM NaCl), to check the highest tolerating levels of salinity stress by P.indica in selected tolerant and susceptible rice genotypes. The growth parameters of rice seedlings such as shoot and root lengths, fresh and dry weights, seedling vigour index 1 and 2, root volume and root shoot ratio were found to be enhanced in P. indica -inoculated rice seedlings as compared to non-inoculated control seedlings, irrespective of whether they are exposed to salt stress or not. In the presence of the fungus, however, salt-stressed seedlings performed significantly better than non-inoculated control seedlings by maintain low Na + /K + ratio. All the growth parameters were decreased as the increase in salinity levels. The findings of this study revealed that this fungus has an important function in improving rice development under salt stress environments.

Exogenously applied plant growth regulator protects rice from heat-induced damage by modulating plant defense mechanism

        Lakshmi G.,Beena R.,Soni K. B.,Viji M. M.,Jha Uday Chand 한국작물학회 2023 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.26 No.1

This study was undertaken to investigate the efect of biostimulants such as spermidine (1 mM, 2 mM), indole-3-acetic acid (10–3 M, 10–5 M), brassinolide (1 mg/L, 2 mg/L) and boron (50 mg/L, 100 mg/L) on protecting rice plants from heat-induced damage. Two rice genotypes, Nagina 22 (heat tolerant) and Manu Ratna (heat susceptible), primed with biostimulant solution were germinated, 14-day-old seedlings were further foliar sprayed with respective treatment solutions prior to the induction of heat stress (42 °C, 48 h). Heat stress-induced fatal damages to non-biostimulant-treated rice seedlings, whereas biostimulanttreated ones were protected from heat stress-induced damages, marked by lower levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), H2O2 coupled with increased levels of seedling vigour index (SVI), chlorophyll and proline contents. Results showed that 1 mM spermidine (Spd) and 10–5 M indole-3-acetic acid (IAA)-treated rice seedlings showed increased heat tolerance and were evaluated for its efect at reproductive stage stress in a pot culture study. At the panicle initiation stage, plants were pretreated with 1 mM Spd and 10–5 M IAA followed by the induction of heat stress, keeping it in a temperature-controlled polyhouse (42.1 °C, till the time of harvest). Spd- and IAA-pretreated heat-exposed plants exhibited yield improvement over control by altering physiological, biochemical and molecular mechanisms. Therefore, we conclude from our results that foliar IAA or Spd applications can be regarded as an agronomic strategy for mitigating the adverse efects of heat stress conditions on rice plants.

Surface Roughness Effects of Pd-loaded Magnetic Microspheres on Reduction Kinetics of Nitroaromatics

        An Seonghwi,Manivannan Shanmugam,MAYAVAN VIJI,Shim Min Suk,Hwang Byeong Hee,Kim Kyuwon 대한화학회 2021 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.42 No.6

Metal nanoparticles decoration on magnetically active semiconductor materials is a common strategy to improve the colloidal stability, catalyst harvesting, and reuse. In this study, a surfactant-free solvothermal method followed by a heat treatment to prepare highly surface roughened α-Fe2O3 (Hematite)/Pd microspheres (MSPs) is reported. Amine-functionalized silicate sol-gel matrix is used as a stabilizing agent for the solvothermal synthesis of Prussian blue (PB) MSPs using HCl at 80 C for 20 h. It is observed that modulating HCl concentration in a medium led to a high degree of improvement in surface roughness. Employing heat treatment at 350 C for 6 h, PB MSPs are transformed into α-Fe2O3, Hematite phase. Fabricated Hematite/Pd MSPs have shown high catalytic reduction activity over p-nitrophenol. Reduction kinetics of nitroaromatics is monitored using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and product formation is confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR analyses.
