      • Exploring the Hidden Meaning of Care through the Life History of a 53-year-old Woman

        This study is based on the story of a woman who has been caring for children and the elderly for a living. As a mother of three children she supported her mother-in-law with Alzheimer's for over 20 years. This paper tried to explore the meaning of care through the life history of a 53-year-old woman and discover its implications for pedagogy. As results, first, the meaning that 'life is a period of vulnerability(Donna J. Haraway)' came to light through the characters surrounding this woman's family history; Second, the fact that the relationship between the caregiver and the person being cared for is the core of a good care relationship became clear; Third, since care is already a relationship in itself, care work is a labor of love and relationships that cannot be standardized or objectified. Finally, the meaning of care work illuminated that self-care and care for others are constantly interacting. The family discord experienced by the participant due to solitary care work gave social, political and economic suggestions that care work was passed entirely on to women. This life history research with a participant K suggested also possibilities of inventing a new viewpoint of humanity and a new mode of human relationship through care work. So this study presented a new task for pedagogy in that care is the knowledge that anyone should and can learn.

        A 0.65-to-10.5 Gb/s Reference-Less CDR With Asynchronous Baud-Rate Sampling for Frequency Acquisition and Adaptive Equalization

        <P>This paper presents a continuous-rate reference-less clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit with an asynchronous baud-rate sampling to achieve an adaptive equalization as well as a data rate acquisition. The proposed scheme also enables the use of a successive approximation register (SAR) based approach in the frequency acquisition and results in a fast coarse lock process. The CDR guarantees a robust operation of a fine locking even in the presence of large input data jitter due to the adaptive equalization and a jitter-tolerable rotation frequency detector (RFD) that eliminates a dead-zone problemwith a simple circuitry. The fabricated CDR in 65 nm CMOS shows a wide lock range of 0.65-to-10.5 Gb/s at a bit error rate (BER) of 10(-12). The CDR consumes 26 mW from a single supply voltage of 1 V at 10 Gb/s including the power consumption for equalizer. By an adaptive current bias control, the power consumption is also linearly scaled down with the data rate, exhibiting a slope of about 2 mW decrease per Gb/s.</P>

      • An 84.6-dB-SNDR and 98.2-dB-SFDR Residue-Integrated SAR ADC for Low-Power Sensor Applications

        <P>This paper presents an asynchronous-clocking successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) suitable for ultralow-power fine-precision sensor applications whose signal bandwidth is in the kilohertz range. The performance-limiting issues of comparator noise and capacitor mismatch in SAR ADC are resolved by a residue integration scheme combined with a dynamic element matching (DEM), achieving a high resolution without imposing extra burden on the design of residue amplifier and comparator. The prototype 16-bit 2 kS/s SAR ADC is fabricated using 180-nm CMOS process in an area of 0.68 mm<SUP>2</SUP>. Measurements show 84.6-dB signal to noise and distortion ratio and 98.2-dB spurious-free dynamic range at the Nyquist input frequency. The ADC dissipates 7.93 <TEX>$\mu \text{W}$</TEX> from supply voltage of 1.8 V and achieves a Schreier figure of merit of 165.6 dB.</P>

        유아교사의 인문학적 성장과정 탐색 : 철학적 탐구공동체 활동을 중심으로

        본 연구는 그림책 중심의 철학적 탐구공동체 활동을 통해 유아 교사의 인문학적 성장과정을 탐색한 실행연구이다. 공립 P유치원 교사 5명을 대상으로 철학적 탐구공동체를 구성하고, 60분씩 6회에 걸쳐 그림책을 중심으로 탐구공동체활동을 진행한 후 그 결과를 Van Manen(1990)이 제시한 해석학적 현상학의 분석 방법에 의거하여 해석하였다. 참여 교사들의 서로 다른 체험의 본질을 탐구해 나가다가 점차 교사들의 경험에 내재된 의미를 해석학적으로 드러내고자 하였다. 연구 결과 참여자들은 철학적 탐구공동체 활동을 통해 첫째, 철학적 사유하기의 시작은 자신의 관점의 변화에서 시작됨을 인식하게 되었고, 둘째, 자신의 삶 속에서 탐구하고, 질문하고, 다른 사람과의 소통을 통해 자기성찰의 경험을 가짐으로써 철학적 안목과 통찰력을 갖게 되었고. 셋째, 철학적 탐구공동체 활동이 인문학적 사유하기를 촉진함으로써 삶 속에서 깊이 있는 사고의 습관화와 실천적 의지를 이끌어내는 결과를 가져다주었다. 본 연구는 철학적 탐구공동체의 인문학적 경험을 교사들에게 제공하여 진정한 배움은 매 순간의 ‘철학함’과 실천을 통해 이루어질 수 있다는 철학적 사유의 지평을 확장하였을 뿐만 아니라 본질을 사유하는 내적 성숙과 교사로서의 성장을 이끄는데 일조하였다. This study is an action research that explores the humanities growth process of early childhood teachers by applying the philosophical inquiry community activities centered on picture books. A philosophical inquiry community was formed for five public kindergarten teachers and performed activities on picture books for six 60 minutes session. The results of activities were interpreted based on the analysis method of Hermeneutic Phenomenology presented by Van Manen(1990). While exploring the nature of the different experiences of the participating teachers, it gradually tried to reveal the meaning inherent in the teachers' experiences. As a result of the study, participants became aware that first, the beginning of philosophical thinking begins with a change in their own perspective, and second, having the experience of self-reflection gave participants a philosophical perspective and insight. Third, they got motives to induce deep thinking habits and practical will in life. This study provides teachers with the humanistic experience of a philosophical inquiry community, expanding the horizon of philosophical thinking that true learning can be achieved through ‘philosophy’ and practice at every moment, as well as internal maturity. It finally helped to lead the growth of teacher’s humanities.

        질적교육연구방법론 수업을 수강한 어느 대학원생의 학습 경험에 대한 자문화기술지 연구

        이 연구의 목적은 자문화기술지를 통해 질적교육연구방법론 수업에 참여한 대학원생의 질적 연구 입문 경험과 그 의미를 탐색하려는 것이다. 이를 위해 연구자이자 연구참여자인 나는 2022년 3월부터 6월까지 자기성찰일지 작성, 수업 참여관찰 및 또 다른 내부자 면담을 실시한 후 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 질적 연구 입문 경험은 ‘배움의 장에 참여하기’, ‘배움 속에서 관계 맺기’, ‘배움을 정리하기’ 등으로 나타났다. 교수자의 안내로 진행되는 수업과 질적 연구 입문자에게 적합한 교재로 질적 연구 세계에 입문하게 되지만, 질적 연구 입문자는 질적 분석과 해석에서 어려움에 봉착하게 된다. 이는 질적 분석과 해석 과정 자체가 몸소 실행함으로써 앎을 얻을 수 있는 실천지의 성격이 있기 때문이다. 그래서 초심자에게는 긍정적인 상호의존성을 기반으로 한 피드백이 다음 연구 성장 단계로 나아가기 위한 중요한 역할을 한다. 또한 질적 연구 입문자는 프로젝트 과제를 질적 연구의 방법으로 수행할 때 다양한 해결전략을 모색하는 것으로 드러났다. 질적 연구 입문 경험의 의미로는 ‘배움에 대한 배움’, ‘연구 현장에서의 배움’, ‘연구자로서 나 자신에 대한 배움’ 등으로 나타났다. 질적 연구 입문자가 질적 연구 렌즈를 경험한 것은 새로운 사고방식과 연구 방법이라는 질적인 경험을 한다는 것을 의미한다. 자칫하면 연구 현장에서 자신만의 세계에 매몰될 수 있는 자문화기술지의 특성을 고려할 때, 특히 질적 연구 입문자는 풍부하고 다양한 자료로써 이를 보완할 필요가 있다. 그리고 질적 연구 입문자는 질적 연구 수업 경험을 디딤돌 삼아 보다 나은 질적 연구자를 소망하게 된다. 결국 질적 연구 수업 참여를 통해 연구자는 앎과 배움의 과정을 성찰함으로써 자기-전환을 도모하게 되었다. 이 연구는 질적 연구 입문 경험과 의미를 드러냄으로써 질적 연구 입문자들에게 유사한 경험을 공유하고, 질적 연구에 대한 초보적 이해에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. The purpose of this study is to autoethnographically explore a Graduate Student’s Learning Experience and Meaning in the Qualitative Education Research Methodology Seminar. To this end, I reviewed a reflective journal from March to June 2022, observed class participation, and conducted another insider interview. As results of the study, the experience of introducing qualitative research was found to be ‘participating in learning’, ‘building a learning relationship’, and ‘organizing learning’. Students enter the world of qualitative research through classes guided by advisors and textbooks suitable for beginners in qualitative research. However, beginners of qualitative research soon have difficulty in qualitative analysis and interpretation. This is because the process of qualitative analysis and interpretation is a practice that can only be learned by doing. Therefore, for beginners, feedback based on positive interdependence plays an important role in advancing to the next stage of research growth. It was also found that beginners of qualitative research seek various solutions when performing project tasks. The meaning of the introductory experience of qualitative research was found to be ‘learning about learning’, ‘learning in the research field’, and ‘learning about myself as a researcher’. Introductory experiences with a qualitative research lens are qualitative experiences of new ways of thinking and research methods. Given the nature of autoethnographical study that can be buried in their own world in the field of research, it is necessary to supplement them with rich and diverse data, especially for qualitative research beginner. In addition, beginner of qualitative research hope to become better qualitative researcher using the experience of qualitative research classes as a stepping stone. In the end, the researcher sought self-transformation by reflecting on the process of learning through participation in qualitative research classes. As a researcher and research participant, I looked back on the process of learning and seeking self-transformation. This study is expected to share experiences with beginners in qualitative research and help them understand preliminary research.

        Evaluation of Hippocampal Volume Based on Various Inversion Time in Normal Adults by Manual Tracing and Automated Segmentation Methods

        Purpose: To investigate the value of image post-processing software (FreeSurfer, IBASPM [individual brain atlases using statistical parametric mapping software]) and inversion time (TI) in volumetric analyses of the hippocampus and to identify differences in comparison with manual tracing. Materials and Methods: Brain images from 12 normal adults were acquired using magnetization prepared rapid acquisition gradient echo (MPRAGE) with a slice thickness of 1.3 mm and TI of 800, 900, 1000, and 1100 ms. Hippocampal volumes were measured using FreeSurfer, IBASPM and manual tracing. Statistical differences were examined using correlation analyses accounting for spatial interpretations percent volume overlap and percent volume difference. Results: FreeSurfer revealed a maximum percent volume overlap and maximum percent volume difference at TI = 800 ms ($77.1{\pm}2.9%$) and TI = 1100 ms ($13.1{\pm}2.1%$), respectively. The respective values for IBASPM were TI = 1100 ms ($55.3{\pm}9.1%$) and TI = 800 ms ($43.1{\pm}10.7%$). FreeSurfer presented a higher correlation than IBASPM but it was not statistically significant. Conclusion: FreeSurfer performed better in volumetric determination than IBASPM. Given the subjective nature of manual tracing, automated image acquisition and analysis image is accurate and preferable.
