Discovery of urinary metabolomic biomarkers for early detection of acute kidney injury

<P>The discovery of new biomarkers for early detection of drug-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is clinically important. In this study, sensitive metabolomic biomarkers identified in the urine of rats were used to detect cisplatin-induced AKI. Cisplatin (10 mg kg(-1), i.p.) was administered to Sprague-Dawley rats, which were subsequently euthanized after 1, 3 or 5 days. In cisplatin-treated rats, mild histopathological alterations were noted at day 1, and these changes were severe at days 3 and 5. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (SCr) levels were significantly increased at days 3 and 5. The levels of new urinary protein-based biomarkers, including kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1), glutathione S-transferase-alpha (GST-alpha), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), calbindin, clusterin, neutrophil, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and osteopontin, were significantly elevated at days 3 and 5. Among urinary metabolites, trigonelline and 3-indoxylsulfate (3-IS) levels were significantly decreased in urine collected from cisplatin-treated rats prior to histological kidney damage. However, carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), a hepatotoxicant, did not affect these urinary biomarkers. Trigonelline is closely associated with GSH depletion and results in insufficient antioxidant capacity against cisplatin-induced AKI. The predominant cisplatin-induced AKI marker appeared to be reduced in urinary 3-IS levels. Because 3-IS is predominantly excreted via active secretion in proximal tubules, a decrease is indicative of tubular damage. Further, urinary excretion of 3-IS levels was markedly reduced in patients with AKI compared to normal subjects. The area under the curve receiver operating characteristics (AUC-ROC) for 3-IS was higher than for SCr, BUN, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), total protein, and glucose. Therefore, low urinary or high serum 3-IS levels may be more useful for early detection of AKI than conventional biomarkers.</P>

신경회로막을 이용한 굴삭기의 위치 제어

The objective of this study is to design a multi-layer neural network which controls the position of excavator's attachment. In this paper, a dynamic controller has been developed based on an error back-propagarion(BP) neural network. Since the neural network can model an arbitrary nonlinear mapping, it was used as a commanded feedforward input generator. A PD feedback controller is used in parallel with the feedforward neural network to train the system. The neural network was trained by the current state of the excavator as well as the PD feedback error. By using the BP network as a feedforward controller, no a priori knowledge on system dynamics is need. Computer simulation result demonstrate such powerful characteristics of the proposed controller as adaptation to changing environment, robustness to disturbancen and performance improvement with the on-line learning in the position control of excavator attachment.

It has already been fifty years since the Korean peninsula was divided into two nations, South and North Korea. Owing to forming different political and social structures with each other, we can conjecture that there are much heterogeneity in education. On the assumption that education plays important role in coming to an accommodation and in restoring homogeneity of the Korean race after unification, we consider the investigation of the contents of mathematics textbooks of secondary schools as a meaningful research to make provision against unification. In this paper, we shall investigate the learning contents, and the learning substances and sequences in mathematics of secondary schools between South and North Korea by falling into two regions, algebra and statistics. By grasping the special features of terms, learning subject matters and learning substances, and clarifying their distinctions, we shall present some reforms measure of distinctions.

It is very important to find out the suitable herbs for soil conservation because soil conservation work is an urgent subject in korea. Since 1957, there have been using about 50 species of herbs for herbs for soil conservation work. This work was carried out to determine the soil conserving herbs resources on Mt. Chiri. The method of this survey is the line transect, and the results obtained in this work were summarized as follows: There were 198 different herbs of 2 forms, 26 varieties, and 170 species, which belong to 120 genus, 35 families, 30 order, 4 classes, and 2 phyllums.

(2) R의 모든 因子가 有限生成이면 (1)의 逆이 成立한다. 3. 系 4.4에서 R가 Noether 半局所 Krull 整域이면 R는 唯一因數分解整域이다.

로렌츠 다양체상에서 쟈코비안의 비교 정리

본 논문에서는 두 로렌츠 다양체 위에서 자코비안을 정의하고, 각 Ricci 곡률과 평균곡률의 조건이 주어질 때 두 자코비안의 크기를 비교하였으며 이 결과를 이용하여 [9]에서 증명한 Rauch 비교 정리도 간단히 증명 하였다. The differences of the liver scintigraphic features between postnecrotic and nonpostnecrotic liver cirrhosis were studied for 69 patients. Degrees of mottling and splenomegaly were no different between two groups but shrinked form was more frequent finding in postnecrotic type(23:10), and normal shape & enlarged left lobe with shrinked right lobe were relatively dominant in non-postnecrotic group(15:6, 10:2). Grade of extrahepatic uptake of ^99mTc-tin colloid was significantly higher in Child-Pugh B & C group than A group(p<0.05), but there was no difference between postnecrotic and non-postnecrotic groups. These will be important results on the dicision for the presence of cirrhosis according to the variable causes.
