Prosthodontic management of worn dentition in pediatric patient with complete overlay dentures: a case report

Prince Kumar,Jyoti Rastogi,Chandni Jain,Harkanwal Preet Singh 대한치과보철학회 2012 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.4 No.4

Overlay complete dentures are simple, reversible and economical treatment modality for patients with congenital or acquired disorders that severely affect the tooth development. It satisfies both the esthetic and functional demands where the extraction of teeth is not generally indicated. In pediatric patients, the overlay dentures establish a relatively stable occlusion that improves patient's tolerance to the future treatment procedures for worn dentition. This clinical report highlights the imperative need of appropriate treatment strategy and application of maxillary and mandibular overlay dentures in a pediatric patient who suffered from congenitally mutilated and worn dentition.

Implementation of a Switched PV Technique for Rooftop 2 kW Solar PV to Enhance Power during Unavoidable Partial Shading Conditions

        Kumar, B. Praveen,Winston, D. Prince,Christabel, S. Cynthia,Venkatanarayanan, S. The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2017 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.17 No.6

We propose maximum power extraction from a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) array during partial shading conditions. Partial shading is unavoidable during power extraction from rooftop PV systems due to nearby tall buildings (construction of additional floors) and trees (growth of trees). Many reconfiguration techniques can be used to extract maximum power in partial shading conditions, but in several cases, the real maximum power output is not achieved. In this study, a new switched PV technique is proposed to enhance the power output. The proposed technique is simple to use and more cost effective than other reconfiguration techniques. Therefore, it is suitable for rooftop applications. The power output of the proposed technique is compared with that of existing techniques with similar shading patterns. Eight panels with ratings of 250 watts (2 kW) each are used for testing. MATLAB simulation and hardware verification are done for the proposed and existing techniques. The proposed technique is implemented on a $4{\times}2$ PV array, although it can be extended to a number of arrays.

Pharmacokinetics and hypoglycemic effect of gliclazide loaded in Isabgol husk mucilage microparticles

        Kumar Vipin,Mazumder Bhaskar,Sharma Prince Prashant,Ahmed Yusra 한국약제학회 2021 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.51 No.2

Purpose Among the several therapeutic agents available for the management of diabetes mellitus, sulfonylureas such as gliclazide have several advantages. The hypoglycemic effect and bioavailability of gliclazide loaded in Isabgol husk mucilage microparticles were assessed. The hypoglycemic effect of drug-loaded microparticles was compared with that of pure gliclazide. Methods Gliclazide was incorporated into Isabgol husk mucilage microparticles using an emulsification-crosslinking technique. Gliclazide characterization was performed using a chromatographic method. Results Gliclazide loading in the microparticles was up to 91.23 ± 0.981% w/w. The pharmacokinetic parameters for pure gliclazide (control) were different from those of gliclazide loaded in microparticles (test). After oral administration, the AUC 0–24 h of gliclazide in blood samples of the control and test groups was 10.840 ± 0.018 and 17.608 ± 0.035 μg/(mL h), respectively. In 24 h after oral administration, the percentage reduction from the baseline glucose level in diabetic rabbits was 36.66 ± 4.509% and 98.11 ± 1.018% for the test and control groups, respectively. Conclusion The prolonged hypoglycemic effect and increased bioavailability of gliclazide loaded in Isabgol husk microparticles compared with those of pure drug indicate the applicability of the microparticulate formulation as a novel anti-diabetic drug delivery system.

      • An Investigation into the Spatial Rice Market Integration in Bangladesh: Application of Vector Error Correction Approach

Ehsanur Rauf Prince,Basanta Kumar Barmon,Teresa Islam 연세대학교 빈곤문제국제개발연구원 2023 Asian Development Perspectives (ADP) Vol.14 No.1

Market integration is a metric for market efficiency, notably pricing efficiency. This paper examined the type and degree of market integration in Bangladesh using the latest available weekly rice market price data from the six district markets in Bangladesh from January 2014 to December 2018. The findings demonstrated that the wholesale price series of rice are stationary at first difference, but non-stationary at levels. The vector error correction model is then implemented after the Johansen-Juselius approach has been used to examine the cointegrating relationship between the various district markets. The negative and statistically significant coefficients of error correction term for the rice markets in the Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet districts show that short-run dynamics are convergent with longterm equilibrium. According to the estimated results of the error correction model, there is an equilibrium relationship between the rice markets in Dhaka with rice markets in Barishal, Chattogram, Dinajpur, and Khulna over the long run. In the short run, the calculated coefficient values, however, indicate that there is only a weak transmission of price changes from one district market to another within the same week.

Selective aerobic-oxidation of glycerol to lactic acid over ruthenium-vanadium bimetallic catalysts

Hanumanth Reddy Pemmana,Prince Kumar Barnwal,Ramagopal VS Uppaluri,Nageswara Rao Peela 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.124 No.-

Ongoing trends to increase biodiesel production translates into enhanced surplus glycerol production, driving the need to develop value-added products, such as lactic acid, from glycerol. The present workis devoted to synthesizing Ru-V bimetallic and monometallic catalysts supported on activated carbonand testing them to produce lactic acid from glycerol through selective aerobic oxidation. The synthesizedcatalysts were thoroughly characterized to obtain morphological and structural properties, elementalcomposition, and surface area. The Ru-V2O5/AC (Ru-V/AC) bimetallic catalysts demonstrated superiorperformance to monometallic Ru and V catalysts, exhibiting a synergistic effect. The Ru-V/AC bimetalliccatalyst containing 1.5 wt% Ru and 0.5 wt% V exhibited the best catalytic performance with a lactic acidyield of 75.5% at 98.7% glycerol conversion under mild operating conditions (1 NaOH/glycerol molar ratio,4400 glycerol/metal molar ratio, 473 K temperature, 5 Bar air pressure and 3 h reaction time). The Ru-V/AC bimetallic catalyst showed good stability during the reaction with only a marginal loss in activitywhen reused for four consecutive cycles, suggesting that this catalyst can be recycled multiple times.

      • Suppressive effect of Spirulina fusiformis in relation to lysosomal acid hydrolases, lipid peroxidation, antioxidant status, and inflammatory mediator TNF-alpha on experimental gouty arthritis in mice

Rasool, Mahaboob Khan,Sabina, Evan Prince,Nithya, Pichandy,Lavanya, Kumar Kyung Hee Oriental Medicine Research Center 2009 Oriental pharmacy and experimental medicine Vol.9 No.2

The anti-inflammatory effect of Spirulina fusiformis on monosodium urate crystal-induced inflammation in mice has been investigated and compared with the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug Indomethacin. The paw volume, lysosomal enzyme activities, lipid peroxidation, anti-oxidant status and inflammatory mediator tumour necrosis factor-$\alpha$ were studied in control and monosodium urate crystal-induced mice after oral administration of Spirulina platensis in an experimental model for gouty arthritis. In the induced mice, the levels of lysosomal enzymes, inflammatory mediator tumour necrosis factor-$\alpha$, lipid peroxidation and the paw volume increased significantly, whereas the antioxidant status decreased when compared to control mice. $\beta$-glucuronidase and lactate dehydrogenase level were also found to be increased in untreated monosodium urate crystal-incubated polymorphonuclear leucocytes. After the oral administration of Spirulina fusiformis, the physical and biochemical changes observed in monosodium urate crystal-induced animals were significantly restored to near normal levels. The results clearly indicated the anti-inflammatory role of Spirulina fusiformis, a promising drug for gouty arthritis.

Atomistic simulations to study crack tip behaviour in single crystal of bcc niobium and hcp zirconium

        Avinash Parashar,Divya Singh,Pankaj Sharma,Sahil Jindal,Prince Kumar,Avinash Parashar 한국물리학회 2019 Current Applied Physics Vol.19 No.1

In this article, molecular dynamics based simulations were carried out to study the fracture toughness of single crystals of niobium (Nb) and zirconium (Zr). Separate set of simulations were performed with different orientations of crack plane in Nb and Zr. In each case, efforts were made to align the crack front with principal planes of corresponding crystal structure, that was bcc for Nb and hcp for Zr. Deformation in single crystal of Nb and Zr was governed either by twinning or emergence of dislocations from the crack tip and surfaces. The deformation mechanism in single crystal of Nb and Zr also helps in governing the overall toughness of the material, while deforming via twinning leads to higher change in the crack length, whereas dislocations emerging from the crack tip blunts the opening and improves the toughness.

Combination of Novel Converter Topology and Improved MPPT Algorithm for Harnessing Maximum Power from Grid Connected Solar PV Systems

        B. Meenakshi Sundaram,B. V. Manikandan,B. Praveen Kumar,D. Prince Winston 대한전기학회 2019 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.14 No.2

It is a diffi cult task to utilize the power from the solar PV connected to utility grid eff ectively due to its lower effi ciency. Hence, a new power electronic topology with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm is needed to reduce the losses thereby obtaining the maximum power from solar PV system. Direct energy transfer is implemented to transfer the rated solar power to the utility grid, the rest is fed to the converter and used for DC loads. In this work, a reversed buck-boost converter topology with parallel power processing concept is used effi ciently and a multiple perturbation and observation (MP&O) based MPPT algorithm is proposed to achieve the global maximum power point (GMPP). And also boost inverter topology is employed by which the power from PV is supplied to the utility grid. The proposed method is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK and implemented in hardware. The simulation and experimental results of the proposed MP&O technique provide maximum AC power as well as DC power even in low irradiance and partial shading conditions of the solar PV array compared to the existing techniques.
