Current state of research about acupuncture for the treatment of COVID-19: A scoping review

        Chen Chen,Jie Zhan,Hao Wen,Xiaojing Wei,Lu Ding,Chenyang Tao,Cui Li,Peiming Zhang,Yuyuan Tang,Jing-chun Zeng,Li-ming Lu 한국한의학연구원 2021 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.10 No.-

Background Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), acupuncture has been widely used in the treatment of COVID-19. The research community has responded rapidly and has already published many research articles about this topic. Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library as well as CNKI, Wanfang and VIP from January 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021. The dates of publication, language of publication, methodological characteristics and the key findings were analyzed separately. The data are presented as bar graphs, structured tables and figures. Results In this scoping review, 16 research articles were included: 7 case reports, 6 observational studies, 1 review, 1 RCT and 1 nonrandomized clinical trial. The majority of the articles (81.3%) were published by Chinese scholars, 12.5% articles were by scholars in the United States, and 6.3% articles were by scholars in Iran. The included studies reported that acupuncture could alleviate the symptoms of COVID-19 patients, shorten their hospitalization days, and is effective for the elderly. There were no side effects reported. The most frequent acupoints used were LI4, PC6, ST36 and KI3. They reported many obstacles in implementing acupuncture therapy for treating COVID-19 patients. Conclusion Acupuncture has a good effect for the treatment of COVID-19, but high-quality evidence support is still lacking. Coupled with the difficulties that acupuncturists experienced during the process of treatment, the promotion of acupuncture treatment for COVID-19 faces many obstacles. Study on the splitting failure of the surrounding rock of underground caverns

        Li, Xiaojing,Chen, Han-Mei,Sun, Yanbo,Zhou, Rongxin,Wang, Lige Techno-Press 2018 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.14 No.5

In this paper splitting failure on rock pillars among the underground caverns has been studied. The damaged structure is considered to be thin plates and then the failure mechanism of rock pillars has been studied consequently. The critical load of buckling failure of the rock plate has also been obtained. Furthermore, with a combination of the basic energy dissipation principle, generalized formulas in estimating the number of splitting cracks and in predicting the maximum deflection of thin plate have been proposed. The splitting criterion and the mechanical model proposed in this paper are finally verified with numerical calculations in FLAC 3D.

Crystallization Behaviors and Morphology of Novel Poly(octamethylene adipate-cooctamethylene succinate) and Poly(octamethylene adipate)

        Xiaojing Li,Zhaobin Qiu 한국고분자학회 2015 Macromolecular Research Vol.23 No.7

Crystallization behaviors and morphology of novel biodegradable poly(octamethylene adipate-cooctamethylene succinate) (POAS) copolymers with different octamethylene succinate (OS) contents and their parent homopolymer poly(octamethylene adipate) (POA) were extensively investigated. Compared to POA, increasing the OS unit does not modify the crystal structures but slightly decreases the crystallinity values of POAS. The glass transition temperature values of POAS are greater than that of POA. Both the nonisothermal crystallization peak temperature and melting point temperature values of POAS decrease gradually with the increment of the OS unit. The overall isothermal melt crystallization rates of POAS decrease with increasing crystallization temperature and the OS content, while the crystallization mechanism does not change. The equilibrium melting point values of POAS are reduced with increasing the OS content, with respect to POA. The nucleation densities of POAS spherulites are reduce significantly; moreover, increasing crystallization temperature and the OS content reduces the spherulitic growth rates of POAS, relative to POA.

Gene Expression Patterns of Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Actinic Keratosis: Biomarkers Screening for Skin Disease Diagnosis

( Xiaojing Li ),( Zhifeng Li ),( Zhao Han ),( Ling Zhang ),( Zhao Liu ),( Baoguo Liu ) 대한피부과학회 2018 Annals of Dermatology Vol.30 No.5

Background: Actinic keratosis (AK) was an intraepidermal tumor which caused by ultraviolet irradiation-induced skin damage. Objective: The aim was to screen biomarkers for development of skin disease by comparing the gene expression profiles between cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) and AK. Methods: GSE45216 with 30 cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma patients and 10 actinic keratosis patients were downloaded and significance analysis of microarrays was processed to screen differently expressed genes (DEGs). Fisher’s exact test was processed for DEGs enrichment. Pathway relationship network systematically reflected the signal conduction and synergism between enriched pathways based on Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes database. Gene co-expression network was constructed according to gene expression data. Quantitative real- time-PCR was used to verify screened biomarkers. Results: Total 410 DEGs were screened and enriched into various functions, such as signal transduction and negative regu-lation of apoptotic process. They also participated into cytokine- cytokine receptor interaction and focal adhesion. The pathway relationship network was constructed with 27 nodes. Hub nodes with higher degree of this network were mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway and apoptosis. The gene co-expression network was constructed with 39 nodes. Thereinto, hub node was ELOVL fatty acid elongase. The expression levels of ELOVL4 and HPGD were significantly higher in CSCC samples than that in AK samples, while the expression levels of INHBA and LAMC2 in CSCC samples were significantly lower than that in AK samples. Conclusion: These screened genes, including ELOVL4, HPGD, INHBA and LAMC2, played important roles in transformation from AK to CSCC. (Ann Dermatol 30(5) 536∼543, 2018)

Genotypic Characteristics of Haemophilus influenzae Isolates from Pediatric Pneumonia Patients in Chengdu City, Sichuan, China

        Tian Guozhong,Zhang Li,Li Machao,Wang Xiaolei,Zheng Yuhong,Li Xiaojing,Huang Cheng,Li Xuechun,Xie Yongqiong,Xu Li,Ren Hongyu,Shao Zhujun 한국미생물학회 2009 The journal of microbiology Vol.47 No.4

Two hundred and seventy-three Haemophilus influenzae strains isolated from pediatric pneumonia patients in China were studied. We used Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) to analyze genotypic characteristics. All strains were biotyped and serotyped. Relatedness and patterns of genes among isolates were determined by the analysis of MLST and eBURST. H. influenzae primarily causes acute pneumonia in children under 1 year old. Nontypeable H. influenzae was responsible for most cases of pediatric pneumonia. All 273 strains were classified into eight biotypes. They mostly belonged to the I, II, and III biotypes (17.6%, 43.6%, and 22.7%, respectively). 62 strains (22.7%) produced β-lactamase. We found 28 novel alleles. Fifty different STs were found by MLST, of which 39 were novel. These were ST477 through ST508 and ST521 through ST527. Group 17 and predicted founders 503 were new groups in this study. No STs correlated with strains from Korea, which is adjacent to China. The H. influenzae strains from China appeared to have heterogeneous ST types patterns which may be the reason no outbreaks or epidemics of H. influenzae infections have occurred in Chengdu city, Sichuan, China.

Conversion of methanol into light olefins over ZSM-11 catalyst in a circulating fluidized-bed unit

        Xiaojing Meng,Huiwen Huang,Qiang Zhang,Minxiu Zhang,Chunyi Li,Qiukai Cui 한국화학공학회 2016 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.33 No.3

Methanol conversion and the reaction pathway were investigated in a pilot-scale circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) unit over hierarchical ZSM-11 catalyst. Experimental results indicated that ZSM-11 catalyst was highly resistant to external coke due to the formation of mesopores. Elevated temperatures favored the production of propylene and butylene and decreased the yield of ethylene. Additionally, no direct relations were shown between the formation of ethylene and other products under different pressures, suggesting that ethylene was a primary product produced at the initial of the reaction. Methylation-cracking and oligomerization were verified as the main reaction pathway for the formation of C3 + alkenes., Methylation and oligomerization of olefins were dominated under high methanol partial pressure and consequently responsible for the production of higher olefins, while the b-scission of C7 = for propene and butylene, and C8 = for butylene were enhanced at low methanol partial pressure.

Efficient production of propylene and gasoline from methanol in multi-regime riser

        Xiaojing Meng,Huiwen Huang,Qiang Zhang,Chunyi Li,Qiukai Cui 한국화학공학회 2016 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.33 No.4

High gas-solid contact efficiency and low solid back-mixing are necessary to both promote methanol conversion and inhibit side reactions. Thus, a novel multi-regime reactor with dense-phase reaction section and dilutephase conveying region was designed. The reactor promoted stable reaction activity during a 300 h pilot-scale evaluation with high yields of propylene and gasoline. A process for maximum propylene and gasoline production from methanol (PGFM) characterized by moderate operating severity, application of ZSM-11 catalyst and novel reactor, and stratified reprocessing or etherification of light gasoline and C4 olefins was proposed. The PGFM process can be implemented in the existing FCC process and is considered to be more economic and flexible.

Parametric study of an undulating plate in a power-extraction regim

Xiaojing Sun,Jihua Zhang,Huizhen Li,Diangui Huang 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.1

Our previous studies suggest that instead of propulsion, a body undergoing lateral traveling-wave-like motions can also work like a kinetic energy harvester which extracts energy from moving fluids including wind and water currents. Parameters including wavelength, dimensionless wave velocity and amplitude have critical effects on the energy extraction efficiencies of this type of undulating foil energy harvester. In this paper, a two-dimensional, numerical simulation of a flexible plate undergoing a traveling wave motion was then conducted. At a given dimensionless wave speed, it is found that there exits an optimum wavelength at which this type of energy harvester can extract the maximum amount of kinematic energy from the flow. Moreover, the optimum value of the wavelength increases as amplitude increases. A high efficiency area appears under the optimal combination of wavelength and amplitude. At a given amplitude, the optimal dimensionless wave speed for maximum power extraction decreases with increasing wavelength. The high efficiency area of the undulating plate resulting from the optimal combination of wavelength and wave speed is identified. At a given wave length, there is an optimal value of amplitude at which the maximum energy extraction can be achieved. In this case, a high efficiency area representing the optimal combination of amplitude and wave speed has also been discovered.

Fouling and cleaning protocols for forward osmosis membrane used for radioactive wastewater treatment

Liu, Xiaojing,Wu, Jinling,Hou, Li-an,Wang, Jianlong Korean Nuclear Society 2020 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.52 No.3

The membrane fouling is an important problem for FO applied to the radioactive wastewater treatment. The FO fouling characteristics for simulated radioactive wastewater treatment was investigated. On-line cleaning by deionized (DI) water and external cleaning by ultrasound and HCl were applied for the fouled membrane. The effectiveness and foulant removing amount by each-step cleaning were evaluated. The membrane fouling was divided into three stages. Co(II), Sr(II), Cs(I), Na(I) were all found deposited on both active and support layers of the membrane surface, resulting in membrane surface became rougher and more hydrophobic, which increased membrane resistance. On-line cleaning by DI water recovered the water flux to 69%. HCl removed more foulants than ultrasound.
