1. Objectives: This study is about a development of Sasang constitutional classification algorithm using facial information. 2. Methods: We analysed the datum of middle aged (20~48) women collected by multi-center researchers in 2007. And this study analysed the data of the measurement of the face by 3D-AFRA (3-Dimensional Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus) and the items of impression by SDQ. We used multiple comparison, exploratory discriminant analysis and clinical decision to select optimal 3D facial variables which will be input in discriminant analysis model. And we used univariate F values and stepwise discriminant function analysis to choose best impression variables. 3. Results and Conclusions: In this study, derived discriminant function's explanation power was 39% in female group. Diagnostic accuracy rate was 66.0% in female group. And in test sample, Sasang constitutional diagnostic accuracy rate was 56.9%. In this process we could help improve the objectification of Sasang constitution diagnosis.
적백하오관중탕(赤白何烏寬中湯)의 기원(基源), 변천과정(變遷過程) 및 구성원리(構成原理)

1. Objectives: This paper was written to understand the origin, changes and the constructive principles of Jeokbaekhaogwanjung-tang(Chibaihewu-tang; 赤白何烏寬中湯). 2. Methods: Jeokbaekhaogwanjung-tang and other related prescriptions were analyzed in terms of pathology, based on "Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑)", "Donguisusebowon Chobongwon(東醫壽世保元 草本卷)", "Donguisusebowon Gabobon(東醫壽世保元 甲午本)", "Donguisusebowon Sinchukbon(東醫壽世保元 辛丑本)" and "Donguisasangsinpyeon(東醫四象新編)" 3. Results: and Conclusions: 1) The origin of Jeokbaekhaogwanjung-tang, which inherited the spirit of Zhang, Zhongjing(張仲景)'s Sasim-tang(Xiexin-tang; 瀉心湯), is discovered in the prescriptions for Sun-qi(順氣), that is, Gwanjung-hwan(Kuanzhong-wan; 貫衆丸) and Mokhyangsungi-san(Muxiangshunqi-san; 木香順氣散). 2) The Jeokbaekhaogwanjung-tang was derived from Gangchulpajeok-tang(Jiangzhupoji-tang; 薑朮破積湯) of "Dongyisusebowon Gabobon", where the herbal medicines, Panax ginseng(人蔘) of Sasim-tang was replaced with Cynanchum wilfordii(白何首烏) and Allium sativum(獨頭蒜) was newly used too. Thereafter, Polygonum multiflorum(赤何首烏) and Alpinia oxyphylla(益智仁) were first added in Jeokbaekhaogwanjung-tang in "Sinchukbon". 3) The Jeokbaekhaogwanjung-tang, composed of 8 herbs except for Zizyphus jujuba(大棗), treats Taeumjeung(太陰證) of Soeumin(少陰人) through warming the Stomach(溫胃) of Cynanchum wilfordii, Polygonum multiflorum, Zingiber officinale(乾薑) and Alpinia officinarum(良薑) and downbearing the Yin(降陰) of Citrus reticulata(靑皮), Citrus unshiu(陳皮), Cyperus rotundus(香附子) and Alpinia oxyphylla.

1. Objectives Facial features are the important personal characteristics. As a study of all the standardization research about the morphology of face and head, this study was carried out to find the differences according to sex, age. 2. Methods We have collected 1140 cases of patients of the Sasang constitutional Department of Kyung-Hee Medical Center and Kangnam Kyung-Hee Oriental Hospital. we took pictures their frontal view, lateral view of face and measured height, breaths and projected length of face with Face Features Measurement Program(FFMP) and analyzed shape differences of face according to sex, age. 3. Results We got the morphologic characteristics of face according to sex, age. And we will upgrade the Sasangin Classification System by this Morphologic study of Head and Face. 4. Conclusions 1) The morphologic characteristics of face according to sex (1) A man's head is longer and wider than a woman's in most measurement. (2) A woman's eye is bigger in height than man's. (3) A woman's face is looked full-filled than man's. (4) A man's polion is higher than pupil but a woman's polion is lower than pupil. 2) The morphologic characteristics of face according to age (1) Young age's forehead is longer and higher than old age's. <P>In this study, we examined the expression and functions of serum amyloid A (SAA) isoforms during apoptosis of HC11 mammary gland epithelial cells. Expression of SAA mRNAs and apoptosis were increased in HC11 cells by serum withdrawal and gradually decreased upon the addition of serum, or epidermal growth factor (EGF). TNFα treatment of HC11 cells also induced expression of SAA genes, and the effect on SAA1 and SAA2 expression was suppressed by treatment with MG132, and in cells transfected with a dominant negative mutant form of IκBα. Similar results were observed in response to interleukin-1 (IL-1), IL-6 and interferon γ (IFNγ). Furthermore, overexpression of the SAA1 and SAA2 isoforms suppressed growth and accelerated apoptosis of HC11 cells by increasing caspase 3/7 and caspase 8 activities, but the apoptotic effect of tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) on HC11 cells was not enhanced. We found that expression of <I>SAA1</I> and <I>SAA2</I>, but not <I>SAA3</I>, was regulated by an NFκB-dependent pathway, and that overexpression of SAA isoforms accelerated the apoptosis of HC11 cells.</P>

<P>In this study, we show that expression of the Westmead DMBA8 nonmetastatic cDNA 1 (WDNM1) gene was increased upon SFM and/or TNFalpha treatment, with a corresponding increase in apoptotic cells, and gradually decreased following re-stimulation with serum in HC11 mammary epithelial cells. TNFalpha induced WDNM1 expression showed the NFkappaB-dependent mechanism since it's expression was abrogated in IkappaBalphaM (super-repressor of NFkappaB)-transfected cells, but not those transfected with control vector. Furthermore, overexpression of WDNM1 suppressed growth and differentiation, and accelerated apoptosis of HC11 cells. Thus, our results demonstrate that WDNM1 gene expression, regulated by the TNFalpha-NFkappaB signal pathway, is associated with HC11 cell apoptosis.</P>

고농도의 phenol과 formaldehyde를 주성분으로 하는 phenol계 산업폐수를 단계적으로 희석하면서, 혼합균주인 GE2와 세라믹담체를 적용하여 80일간에 걸쳐 생물학적으로 처리하였다. 실험구는 제지폐수 슬러지로 30일간 회분식 운전에 의해 적응시킨 대조구, 이것에 GE2를 첨가한 GE2 처리구 그리고 세라믹담체를 적용한 세라믹처리구로 구분하였다. 원폐수의 80배 희석으로 유입수의 COD_Mn이 1,140mg/l 인 경우 각 실험구의 유출수 COD_Mn은 22∼35mg/l로 큰 차이가 없었으나, 20배 희석의 경우 유입수의 COD_Mn이 4,800mg/l일 때, 대조구, GE2 처리구 그리고 세라믹처리구의 유출수 COD_Mn은 179, 128 그리고 94mg/l로서 세라믹처리구의 처리효율이 98.0%로 가장 높았다. 이때 유출수의 phenol 농도는 각기 10.71, 7.93 그리고 5.60mg/l으로 GE2 및 세라믹담체의 적용에 의하여 처리효율이 향상되었다. 한편, 희석배율이 낮아짐에 따라 COD_Mn과 phenol 처리효율에는 큰 변화가 없으나, 유출수의 COD_Mn과 phenol농도가 높아졌다. 따라서, 원폐수를 40배 희석하여 GE2와 세라믹담체를 첨가하여 처리할 경우 유출수의 COD_Mn과 phenol 농도가 32와 1.02mg/l로 수계의 방류수 수질기준에 충분히 적합한 생물학적 처리로 사료된다. A phenolic resin industrial wastewater containing about 41,000 mg/l of phenol and 2,800 mg/l of formaldehyde was biologically treated by a mixed culture GE2 immobilized on ceramic beads. This study was carried out with three experimental groups : Control-only added the sludge of papermill wastewater ; GE2 treatment-added GE2 to Control ; Ceramic treatment-applied ceramic carrier to GE2 treatment. When the original wastewater was diluted 80 times with aerated tap-water, influent COD_Mn was 1,140 mg/l and that of the effluent was in the range of 22∼35 mg/l, which was not much different among the experimental groups. However, at 20-times dilution, influent COD_Mn was 4,800 mg/l and the effluent COD_Mn of control, GE2 treatment and Ceramic treatment was 179, 128 and 94 mg/l, respectively. COD_Mn removal efficiency by Ceramic treatment was the highest, at 98.0%. At this time, the effluent phenol concentration of Control, GE2 treatment and Ceramic treatment was 10.71, 7.93 and 5.60, respectively. As the dilution times decreased, the removal efficiency of COD_Mn and phenol did not change much, but COD_Mn and phenol concentration of the effluent increased. Consequently, it is likely that the phenolic industrial wastewater containing phenol and formaldehyde can be biologically treated using a GE2 and ceramic carrier and that at 40-times dilution, the effluent completely meets the effluent standards for industrial wastewater treatment plant.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Previously, we reported that decreased brain-specific angiogenesis inhibitor 2 (BAI2) induced increased VEGF expression. The regulatory mechanisms for this process are not understood. Here we show that GA-binding protein gamma (GABPγ) associates with the cytoplasmic domain of BAI2, and GABPα/γ or GABPα/β works as a transcriptional repressor of VEGF in SHSY5Y cells. Transcriptional activity of wild-type VEGF promoter was significantly increased in anti-sense BAI2-transfected cells, but not that of VEGF promoter harboring mutated GABP sites. In in vivo focal cerebral ischemia model, the decrease in BAI2 accompanied by decreased GABPα and GABPγ elicited increased VEGF expression before the onset of HIF-1α. Our results point out that BAI2 controls VEGF transcription through GABP under normal conditions and cerebral ischemia.</P>
반연속배양의 혼합균주에 의한 Benzene, Toluene 및 Phenol 혼합물 분해

Benzene, toluene 및 phenol을 각기 250 ㎎/ℓ 포함한 합성폐수에 혼합균주인 GE1을 접종하고 반연속배양에 의하여 군집의 안정을 이룬 후 방향족화합물의 생분해에 대하여 조사하였다. 미생물 무처리구인 대조구에서 75 ㎖/ℓ/min의 폭기에 의해 배양 24시간에 phenol은 37%, benzene은 83%가 휘발되고, toluene은 배양 12시간에 모두 휘발되었다. Benzene과 toluene의 생분해는 섬모상 고정화 담체를 설치한 SB(strains+biofilm) 처리구에서 효과적이며, phenol은 glucose를 첨가한 SG(strains+glucose) 처리구에서 보다 신속히 분해되었다. Benzene, toluene 및 phenol을 250 ㎎/ℓ 또는 1000 ㎎/ℓ 첨가하였을 때 SG 처리구는 16시간이나 32시간에 이들 화합물을 완전히 제거하였다. COD 제거율은 SG 처리구에서 초기에 80 ㎎/ℓ/h로 가장 높았으나, 증식된 균체량에 의하여 배양 12시간 이후에는 116∼140 ㎎/ℓ의 일정한 값을 보였다. 결론적으로 혼합균주 GE1은 benzene, toluene 그리고 phenol 등의 방향족화합물이 혼합된 산업폐수의 처리에 폭 넓게 사용될 수 있는 가능성을 보였다. The biodegradation of aromatic compounds by a mixed culture GE1 was investigated in an artificial wastewater containing 250 ㎎/ℓ of benzene, toluene, and phenol in semicontinuous culture. In the control group (no strains) with an aeration rate of 75 ㎖/ℓ/min, 37% of phenol and 83% of benzene were volatilized during early 24 hrs and toluene was disappeared form the medium within 12 hrs. The biodegradation of benzene and toluene was effective in SB (strains+biofilm) treatment, while phenol was degrade more quickly in SG (strains+glucose) treatment including glucose as an additional carbon source. Aromatic compounds added at a concentration of 250 ㎎/ℓ or 1000 ㎎/ℓ were completely removed by SG treatment after 16 hrs or 32 hrs, respectively. The removal rate of COD was high as much as 80 ㎎/ℓ/h in SG treatment during early period, but COD revealed a stable value of 116∼140 ㎎/ℓ after 12 hrs caused by increased biomass. Therefore, it is concluded that the mixed culture GE1 could be used for the wastewater treatment including aromatic compounds such as benzene, toluene, and phenol.
