Purpose

– The purpose of this paper is to attempt to investigate how emotional labor strategies (i.e. surface acting and deep acting) affect job performance through job satisfaction. Another important objective of this study was to see whether perceived organizational support (POS) moderates the relationship between emotional labor strategies and job-related outcomes (i.e. job satisfaction and job performance).

Design/methodology/approach

– Structural equation modeling analysis provided support for the hypotheses from a sample of 309 South Korean department store sales employees.

Findings

– The results revealed that surface acting had a negative effect, whereas deep acting had a positive effect on job satisfaction. In addition, the relationship between emotional labor strategies (i.e. surface acting and deep acting) and job performance was significantly mediated by job satisfaction. Finally, POS significantly moderated the relationship between surface acting and job satisfaction, as well as the relationship between deep acting and job performance.

Originality/value

– The findings of this study contributed to the literature by identifying the relationship between surface and deep acting on organizational outcomes (i.e. job satisfaction and job performance), especially in a collectivist society (i.e. South Korea). In addition, this study also confirmed the important role of POS based on the norm of reciprocity between an organization and its members.

Combined Orbital Fractures: Surgical Strategy of Sequential Repair
Hur, Su Won,Kim, Sung Eun,Chung, Kyu Jin,Lee, Jun Ho,Kim, Tae Gon,Kim, Yong-Ha Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surge 2015 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.42 No.4
Background Reconstruction of combined orbital floor and medial wall fractures with a comminuted inferomedial strut (IMS) is challenging and requires careful practice. We present our surgical strategy and postoperative outcomes. Methods We divided 74 patients who underwent the reconstruction of the orbital floor and medial wall concomitantly into a comminuted IMS group (41 patients) and non-comminuted IMS group (33 patients). In the comminuted IMS group, we first reconstructed the floor stably and then the medial wall by using separate implant pieces. In the non-comminuted IMS group, we reconstructed the floor and the medial wall with a single large implant. Results In the follow-up of 6 to 65 months, most patients with diplopia improved in the first-week except one, who eventually improved at 1 year. All patients with an EOM limitation improved during the first month of follow-up. Enophthalmos (displacement, 2 mm) was observed in two patients. The orbit volume measured on the CT scans was statistically significantly restored in both groups. No complications related to the surgery were observed. Conclusions We recommend the reconstruction of orbit walls in the comminuted IMS group by using the following surgical strategy: usage of multiple pieces of rigid implants instead of one large implant, sequential repair first of the floor and then of the medial wall, and a focus on the reconstruction of key areas. Our strategy of step-by-step reconstruction has the benefits of easy repair, less surgical trauma, and minimal stress to the surgeon.
Microbiological Characteristics and Volatile Components of Deastringent Persimmon Vinegar
Hur, Sung-Ho,Lee, Ho-Jae,Lee, Tae-Shik,Lee, Won-Koo,Hong, Jeong-Hwa The Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition 1998 Preventive Nutrition and Food Science Vol.3 No.3
Acetic acid producing bacteria were isolated from deastringent persimmon vinegar and the major bacterium was identified using morphological and biochemical tests. Acetobacter sp. AH-1 was motile, gram negative rod with catalase positive and oxidase negative. The strain can grow up to 5 % ethanol and 2% NaCl as well as 25% glucose. Optimum temperature and pH for growth were 3$0^{\circ}C$ and 5.0, respectively. Volatile constituents of persimmon vinegar were analyzed by purge and trap sampling . Acetic acid adn alcohol were the largest volatile compounds quantitiatively in persimmon vinegar. Among alcohols, 20methyl-1-propanol, isoamyl alcohol and amyl alcohol were detected. Isovaleradehyde and benzaldehyde for aldehyde, isoamyl acteate, ethyl formate, propyl aceetate, and ethyl acetate for esters were likely to contribute to persimmon vivegar flavor.

Background/Aims Globus is a foreign body sense in the throat without dysphagia, odynophagia, esophageal motility disorders, or gastroesophageal reflux. The etiology is unclear. Previous studies suggested that increased upper esophageal sphincter pressure, gastroesophageal reflux and hypertonicity of esophageal body were possible etiologies. This study was to quantify the upper esophageal sphincter (UES) pressure, contractile front velocity (CFV), proximal contractile integral (PCI), distal contractile integral (DCI) and transition zone (TZ) in patient with globus gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) without globus, and normal controls to suggest the correlation of specific high-resolution manometry (HRM) findings and globus. Methods Fifty-seven globus patients, 24 GERD patients and 7 normal controls were studied with HRM since 2009. We reviewed the reports, and selected 5 swallowing plots suitable for analysis in each report, analyzed each individual plot with ManoView. The 5 parameters from each plot in 57 globus patients were compared with that of 24 GERD patients and 7 normal controls. Results There was no significant difference in the UES pressure, CFV, PCI and DCI. TZ (using 30 mmHg isobaric contour) in globus showed significant difference compared with normal controls and GERD patients. The median values of TZ were 4.26 cm (interquartile range [IQR], 2.30-5.85) in globus patients, 5.91 cm (IQR, 3.97-7.62) in GERD patients and 2.26 cm (IQR, 1.22-2.92) in normal controls (P = 0.001). Conclusions HRM analysis suggested that UES pressure, CFV, PCI and DCI were not associated with globus. Instead increased length of TZ may be correlated with globus. Further study comparing HRM results in globus patients within larger population needs to confirm their correlation. (J Neurogastroenterol Motil 2013;19:473-478)
A Note on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Subgroups
Tae-Chon Ahn(안태천),Kyung-Won Jang(장경원),Seok-Beom Roh(노석범),Kul Hur(허걸) 한국지능시스템학회 2005 한국지능시스템학회 학술발표 논문집 Vol.15 No.2
In this paper, We discuss various types of sublattice of the lattice of intuitionistic fuzzy subgroups of a given group. We prove that a special class of intuitionistic fuzzy normal subgroups constitutes a modular sub lattice of the lattice of intuitionistic fuzzy subgroups. Moreover, we exhibit the relationship of the sublattices of the lattice of intuitionistic fuzzy subgroups.
