Objectives : The aim of this study was to analyze changes in the gait pattern of a unilateral knee pain patient after treatment with Korean Medicine therapy. Methods : We conducted gait analysis 4 times over 11 days to analyze changes in gait parameters using gait analysis systems. Results : Velocity, cadence, step length, and stride length were all increased. On the collateral side, both stance phase and double support (%) decreased. These results are similar to those of hemiplegic patients with improvement patterns. Conclusions : Gait analysis could be used as a good evaluation tool for tracking improvements in knee pain.
디스크 전지를 삼킨 소아에서 내시경적 이물 제거술의 비교

목 적: 소아에서 디스크 전지를 삼키는 사고가 증가하고 있다. 식도에 걸린 경우 식도 궤양, 천공, 누공, 종격동염 등 심각한 합병증을 유발할 수 있으므로 즉각 제거해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 디스크 전지의 내시경적 제거에 있어서 기구에 따른 제거 속도의 차이와 안전성을 비교해 봄으로써 가장 빠르고 효율적으로 제거할 수 있는 방법을 찾아보고자 하였다. 방 법: 1997년 7월부터 2007년 6월까지 디스크 전지를 삼키고 경북대학교병원 소아과에 내원하여 내시경적 적출술을 시도한 24명의 환아를 대상으로 하였다. 평균 나이는 1.5세였고 남아가 9명이었다. 내시경 보조기구로써 magnetic extractor와 풍선을 이용하거나 retrieval net을 사용한 경우를 별도로 비교하여 제거에 걸린 시간과 안전성에 차이가 있는지 검토하였다. 결 과: 전지의 직경과 두께가 $20{\times}2$ mm (또는 2 mm) 인 것이 5건이었고 이 중 3예(60%)에서 식도에 걸려 식도 점막 괴사 또는 궤양을 초래하였다. 직경 20 mm 디스크 전지는 직경 10 mm 전지에 비해 식도에 걸려 손상을 초래하는 경우가 유의하게 많았다(p<0.01). 내시경적 제거방법으로 retrieval net을 사용한 경우가 10명으로 평균 1.5분이 소요되었으며 magnetic extractor와 풍선(또는 condom)을 이용한 경우가 6명이었는데 평균 소요 시간이 3.3분 걸려 retrieval net을 사용할 경우 더욱 신속한 제거가 가능하였다(p<0.05). 결 론: 식도의 디스크 전지는 내시경적 응급 상황으로 즉시 내시경으로 신속하고 안전하게 제거할 수 있도록 조치하여야 한다. 저자 등의 경험에 의하면 retrieval net을 이용한 위장내 이물 제거가 더 효과적이었으나, 시술자의 숙련도와 선호도에 따라 magnetic extractor와 풍선을 이용한 방법 또는 retrieval net을 이용한 제거 등을 선택하여 사용할 수 있을 것이다. Purpose: Any battery impacted in the esophagus must be removed urgently because of the possibility of serious complications such as perforation, fistula, and mediastinitis. The use of endoscopic procedures was compared to find the most rapid, effective, and safe method to remove disk batteries. Methods: The cases of 24 children (9 males, mean age, 1.5 years) that had accidentally ingested disk batteries were reviewed. The patients had visited the Department of Pediatrics, Kyungpook National University Hospital from July 1997 to June 2007 for the removal of disk batteries. Endoscopic removal was attempted using a retrieval net or a magnetic extractor with a balloon (condom). The procedure times for removing the ingested battery were compared. Results: Children that ingested batteries with a larger diameter (20 mm) had a greater chance to have esophageal impaction with serious injury, such as esophageal mucosal necrosis or ulcers, as compared to the ingestion of smaller diameter batteries (10 mm) (p<0.01). Endoscopic removal of disk batteries was attempted either using a retrieval net in 10 children or by using a magnetic extractor with a balloon in 6 children. Endoscopic removal using a retrieval net was more effective (mean procedure time: 1.5 min) as compared to using a magnetic extractor with a balloon (mean procedure time: 3.3 min) (p<0.05). Conclusion: Both procedures, either using a retrieval net or a magnetic extractor with a balloon were effective in removing ingested disk batteries. Based on our experience, an endoscopic procedure using a retrieval net was a more effective method for foreign body removal.
Effects of Dietary Fermented Persimmon Diet on the Meat Quality of Fattening Pigs

The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of fermented persimmon diet on the meat quality of fattening pigs. Pigs (75 kg) were grouped and housed as 15 animals per pen and 3 replications per treatment. The basal diet (C) was substituted with 3% (T1), 5% (T2) and 10% (T3) of fermented diet. The 180 pigs were fed experimental diet for 42 d and 10 longissimus dorsi (LD) per treatment were collected when each swine reached 105.6 kg of body weight. The crude fat concentration of LD was lower (p<0.05) in treatments, but the pH value of T3 and the shear force values of T2 and T3 were higher (p<0.05) than those of C. The CIE $L^*$ value (lightness) was significantly (p<0.05) higher in T2 and T3 than C, but the CIE $b^*$ (yellowness) of T2 and T3 was significantly (p<0.05) lower than C. The composition of myristic acid and oleic acid was significantly (p<0.05) higher in treatments than in C, while the composition of palmitic acid and stearic acid of treatments were significantly (p<0.05) lower than C in LD. Sensory evaluation of cooked meat as scores of aroma, taste, juiciness and overall acceptability showed higher (p<0.05) in treatments than in C. In conclusion, the dietary of fermented persimmon diet decreased the crude fat concentration, improved the fatty acids composition (increased composition of unsaturated fatty acid and decreased composition of saturated fatty acid) and improved the sensory evaluation of pork meat from fattening pigs.
Increased Frontomotor Oscillations During Tic Suppression in Children With Tourette Syndrome

<P>This work investigated whether Tourette syndrome patients exhibit alterations in neural oscillations during spontaneous expression and suppression of tics. Electroencephalograms (EEGs) were recorded from 9 medication-naïve children with Tourette syndrome and 10 age-matched healthy subjects in resting conditions and during tic suppression. Their cortical oscillations were examined using the power spectral method and partial directed coherence. The authors found increased oscillations of broad frequency bands in the frontomotor regions of patients during tic expression, suggesting the involvement of aberrant cortical oscillations in Tourette syndrome. More significantly, prominent increases in theta oscillation in the prefrontal area and directed frontomotor interactions in the theta and beta bands were observed during tic suppression. Furthermore, the directed EEG interaction from the frontal to motor regions was positively correlated with the severity of tic symptoms. These findings suggest that the frontal to motor interaction of cortical oscillations plays a significant role in tic suppression.</P>
생체전기저항법을 이용한 여성의 비만 실태 연구 : 비만지수 비교를 중심으로

It is known that obesity is closely related with many diseases. The aim of this study was to measure body fat, body mass index, waist-hip ratio using bioelectical impedence in women in Jeju-island. The subjects were 510 women, who had regular health examinations between January and December of 1999 at J-Hospital in Jeju-island. The results were as follows. 61.67% of the subjects had obesity in body fat. The average body fat % was 30.97%. 75.29% of the subjects had obesity in waist-lip ratio. The average waist-hip ratio was 0.88. But In body mass index, 37.83% of the subjects had obesity. The average body mass index was 24.08kg/ m', that was normal range.

Objectives : Tourette's Disorder (TD) is a chronic neuropsychiathc disorder characterized by multiple motor and vocal tics with onset in childhood. The aim of this study was to ascertain the increased cortical information transmission in frontal area during tic suppression in drug naive boys with TD using new nonlinear analysis of EEGs, be called Transfer Entropy (TE) which can detect the directed exchange of information between two systems. Methods : Subjects were 11 drug naive boys with DSM-IV diagnosis of TD and 10 control boys. Clinical assessments were performed, and EEGs were recorded from 19 scalp loci of the international 10-20 systems. TE was estimated by EEG time-series data after noise reduction. TE difference between TD and control during resting state and between tic suppression and resting state in TD were investigated. Rcsults : Elevated TE was found in extensive channels, including frontal, central and temporal channels (F7, Fz, F8,Cz, C3, P3, T3, and T4) in resting state ofTourette's disorder compared to normal controls. Duhng tic suppression elevated TE was found in more extensive and asymmetrical channels especially prefrontal area (Fpl, Fp2, F3, Fz, F7, F8, Cz, C4, C5, T3, and T4). Conclusion : These findings suggest that pathogenesis of Tourette's disorder involve impaired cortical neuronal modulation in subcortical neural circuits. EEG analysis of TE may be a useful tool to investigation of cortical mechanism of psychiatric illness.
