CLINICAL STUDY ON EFFECT OF VIRECHANA KARMA (THERAPEUTIC PURGATION)

        Harikishan Bamoriya,Shachi Chandil,Rani Singh 셀메드 세포교정의약학회 2022 셀메드 (CellMed) Vol.12 No.1

The study has been carried out for the comparative analysis of relevant literature in order to highlight the present topic "Clinical study on effect on Virechana karma (therapeutic purgation)". Total no. of 40 cases has been selected from OPD and IPD of Panchakarma department, through proper history taking and clinical examination prior to Virechana Karma. Only Virechana Karma Yogya subjects were selected for the Virechana Karma. Analysis of Virechan Karma on the basis of Vegiki (purgative bouts), Maniki (quantity), Langiki (clinical features) and Aantiki (end product) features were done in this study. In this study a highly significant relief was found in patients i.e. p<0.001 due to Virechana mainly vitiated Pitta Dosha (the heat energy in the body) and secondary Kapha dosha (mucus) and Vata Dosha (subtle energy associated with movement) are being expelled out which might have accounted for better relief in Virechan Yogya (indicated) individuals (Pitta Pradhan Vyadhi (vitiated pitta), Raktaj Roga (hemopoietic diseases), Shodhan Yogya Avastha (detoxification), etc.) in the above group of patients. Virechana Dravyas have properties like Tikshna (hyperfunction), Sukshma(subtle), Ushna (heat), etc. are described in Ayurvedic classics which play a vital role in the mode of action of Virechana Karma has also been explained under probable mode of action.

IN-VITRO STUDY OF CO2 EXTRACT OF TERMINALIA CHEBULA IN BREAST CANCER CELL LINE MD-MB-231

        Shachi Chandil,Harikishan Bamoriya,D. B. More 셀메드 세포교정의약학회 2021 셀메드 (CellMed) Vol.11 No.3

Cancer is an abnormal growth of cells in body which leads to death. These cells are born due to imbalance in cell proliferation mechanism. In 2018, WHO released new statistics on cancer incidence, mortality, and prevalence worldwide i.e., GLOBOCAN 2018 estimates for 28 types of cancer in which more prevalence of cervix and breast cancer. According to survey, in India about 7.8 million cancer deaths and 11.5 million new cases arise in 2018, which will increase to 19.3 million new cases per year by 2025. Though breast cancer as such is not explained anywhere in Ayurvedic compendia, correlations can be done with the Stana Arbuda. Ayurveda, the ancient system of medicine came into existence 1000's of years ago with an objective of maintaining the health of people and treating diseases. Many herbs used in Ayurveda have been screened for activity against cancer and in-vitro and in-vivo studies have given promising leads. The plant, called as “Mother of Medicine”, Haritaki has been extensively studied for its various ailments because of its extraordinary healing potency. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula Retz.), Family: Combretaceae have a great therapeutic value and is widely distributed in India. Dried fruit of Terminalia chebula contains high quantities phenolic compounds consist of ellagic acid, gallic acid and chebulic acid. The fruit extract of T. chebula is having different biological properties like anticancer, antioxidant, hepatic and renal protective activities etc. In this study, we focus on the use of CO2 extract of Terminalia chebula, on the breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. All tests proved that CO2 extract of Terminalia chebula containing active chemical component, therefore our experiment showed the positive results for CO2 extract of Terminalia chebula against breast cancer cell line cancer MDA-MB-231. The MTT assay results were used to evaluate the anti-cancer activity of the extract. The percentage of cell growth and cell viability were calculated from tabulated result values of MTT assay. Cell viability MTT assay also showed significant growth inhibition, at the same time statistical analysis of MTT assay also proved significant results.

Physico-phytochemical Evaluation of Raw Material and CO2 extract of Fruits of Terminalia chebula

Shachi Chandil,Harikishan Bamoriya 셀메드 세포교정의약학회 2022 셀메드 (CellMed) Vol.12 No.1

The present communication attempts to evaluate the physicochemical and preliminary phytochemical studies on the fruit of Terminalia chebula Retz. Combretaceae family. Haritaki is one of the most celebrated herbs in the Indian traditional medicine system, Ayurveda. Terminalia chebula is known to exhibit different properties like anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-protozoal, antimicrobial, antioxidant, hepato and renal protective activities, and in the management of metabolic syndrome. As there is no detailed standardisation work reported on fruit, the physicochemical parameters, preliminary phytochemical constants, heavy metals, analysis are carried out. The phytochemical screening indicated the presence Tannin, Alkaloid, Phenol, Carbohydrate, Steroids, Protein and Resin compounds in CO2 extract of Haritaki. The present investigation will helpful in assessing the quality and purity of a crude drug. Thus, the study provides facts that CO2 extract of Haritaki contains medicinally important bioactive phytochemical compounds which justifies the use of plant species as conventional medicine for treatment of many diseases.
