A six years old Korean girl was admitted in February 1963, with cyanotic congenital heart disease. By auscultation grade I -Ⅱ systolic murmur was audible along the left sternal border without thrill. Remarkable laboratory findings were high degree of and hematuria, polycythemia, albuminuria, and right sided hemiparesis. Transposition of the abdominal viscera with levocardia was found on routine X-ray study ECG showed right axis deviation and inverted P-wave in lead I . The right heart catheterization and angiocardiography with Shonander serial X-ray machine showed the right-sided (venous)atrium receiving the right and left superior vena cava separately, complete transposition of the great vessels, shunt at the ventricular level, and pulmonary stenosis. The inferior vena cava coursed along the left border of the spinal column and drained into the venous atrium, which is in the left hemithorax. The aortic arch was left-sided and bifurcated right ureter was visualized. Glenn' s procedure was done to increase the pulmonary blood flow in March 1963. Postoperative course was benign and uneventful. The follow-up study of the case, five month postively, revealed satisfactory results; increased exercise tolerance, marked relief from dyspnea on exertion, abolished cyanosis on rest, incresed arterial oxygen saturation (from 48% to 70%), normalization of hemogram, and increased pulmonary vascularity on the right lung field. The final anatomical findings of this unusually complicated cardiac anomaly were: (1) Levocardia with situs inversus viscerum, chamber inversion, and inverted P-wave in Lead I on ECG. (2) Transposition of the great vessels with pulmonary stenosis. (3) Intra-cardiac shunt or Shunts: i. Undetermined intracardiac shunt, Vntricular septal defect or single vent -ricle or atrioventricularis communis ? ii. Confirmed atrial septal defect. (4) Double superior vena cavae: left superior vena cava drained into the right atrial cavity (right atrium proper or coronary sinus?). Inferior vena cava on the left side. (By course of the cardiac catheter) Left aortic arch and left descending aorta. Bifurcated right ureter. Asplenia :presence not determined. Three lobes of the right lung confirmed by operation but numbr of lobes on the left lung undetermined. This report is believed to be the first operative palliation case of complete trans-position of the great vessels with pulmonary stenosis in a Korean literature.

A linear correlation, by the stepwise multiple regression analysis, was found between the sensory test of Sigumjang aroma and the gas chromatographic data which were transformed with logarithm. GC data is the most objective method to evaluate Sigumjang aroma. A multiple correlation coefficient and a determination coefficient of more than 0.9 were obtained at the 9th and 13th steps, respectively. At step 31, the coefficient of determination level of 0.95 was attained. The accuracy of its estimation became higher as the number of the variables entered into the regression model increased. Over 90% of the Sigumjang aroma was explained by 13 compounds identified on GC. The contributing proportion of the peak 26 was the highest followed by peaks 57 (9.27%), 29 (7.51%), 54 (6.01%), 8 (5.99%), 49 (4.97%), and 13 (4.11%).

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this report, we introduced spirobiindane group to poly(arylene ether sulfone) (PES) to build the structure of polymers with intrinsic microporosity (PIMs). A novel PESs (QOH-SBIs), which have spirobiindane and tetra(quaternary ammonium) hydroxide pendant moieties, were synthesized for anion-conducting binder material in membrane electrode assembly (MEA) of solid alkaline exchange membrane fuel cell (SAEMFC). The time-lag method was used to check the high gas permeability of the polymers. The high permeability is due to the micro-pores at the molecular level that is formed by the difference in chain thicknesses between two alternating units, thick spirobiindane group and thin arylene ether sulfone group. QOH-SBIs shows a semi-rigid chain conformation in a solution. The inter-chain spacing and chain conformation were measured with wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and small angle neutron scattering (SANS), respectively. High gas permeability directly affected the performance of SAEMFC. The MEA with spirobiindane-modified PES shows much higher maximum power density than that of spirobiindane-free PESs.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Spiro moieties were introduced to PESs to design polymers of intrinsic microporosity. </LI> <LI> Difference in chain thickness create microporous channels for gas diffusion. </LI> <LI> Inter-chain spacing and chain conformation were calculated from with WAXD and SANS. </LI> <LI> Enhancing gas permeability of the electrode binder improved the cell performance. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Background: In recent times, it has been gradually emphasized that an aspect of diseases impacting on the quality of an individuals life goes beyond physical impairments with the development of economic and medical technology. Skin diseases especially may be associated with a variety of negative psychologic effects, such as low self-esteem, feelings of inferiority because skin lesions are exposed to others and cause cosmetic problems. Many researchers have been already established various dermatology-specific questionnaires and disease-specific questionnaires in developed countries, but these are rare in Korea. Objective: We tried to survey the social, psychological and physical aspects of patients with vitiligo and psoriasis to evaluate the impact of skin diseases on the quality of life in Korea. Methods: We inquired after 64 patients by using a dermatology-specific questionnaires Skindex recently developed by Chren et al. It has 6I-items and eight scales including cognitive, social, depression, fear, embarrassment, anger, physical discomfort, and physical limitations. Results: Among the 8 scales scores of all patients, embarrassment is the highest, followed by anger, fear, depression, cognitive, physical discomfort, physical limitation, and social. The patients with psoriasis had higher scores in all scales than vitili� patients. The patients with more than 5 years of the disease's duration revealed significantly higher scores int he scales of physical discomfort(p�0.01) and embarrassment(p�0.03). There were not any significant differences in age, sex, education and religion between both disease groups. Conclusion: Compared to western developed countries, the survey revealed that overall scores of all scales were higher, with embarrassment having the highest score. So these results suggest that the quality of life may be influenced by a social and cultural status.
전계효과에서 정전위 형성을 이한 Insulator 제작과 두께 변화에 따른 저항특성

현재 X-ray 검출 시스템에서 Integration 방식의 성능 개선 연구방향은 국한되어지며, 이로 인해 개선치의 한계를 나타내고 있다. 또한 물질 특성의 한계로 인해 더욱 미세한 선량을 검출하기 어려운 실정이다. 이와 달리 전계효과를 나타내 는 검출 기술은 디락-점이라는 높은 저항 peak를 활용함으로써 미세 선량 검출이 가능하다. 이를 활용하기 위한 전계 형 성은 절연물질을 통한 정전위 형성층이 필수적으로 요구되며, 절연물질의 두께에 따라 달라 질 수 있는 절연 특성에 대한 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 PIB 증착 방식을 이용한 정전위 형성층 제작과 그에 따른 절연 효과 및 특성에 대한 분석을 통하여 활용 가능성을 검증하였다. 절연물질로 Si based oxide를 활용하여 다양한 절연두께를 제작하였으며, 인가전압에 따라 측정되는 drift current를 저항으로 산출하여 절연 두께에 따른 저항의 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 2 V와 3 V의 인가전압을 걸어주었을 때, 최대치의 저항 값을 나타내었으며, 이러한 최대 점은 절연물질의 두께가 증가할수록 3 V에서 2 V로 최대치를 나타내는 peak가 shift되는 현상이 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 PIB방식을 이용한 절연 물질층 제작은 전계효과 검출시스템의 차세대 검출기 연구에 대한 활용 가능성을 입증하였다. For the current X-ray detection system, researches into an integration system for improving performance is limited, indicating a limit to improvement. Furthermore, the limit of material properties makes it difficult to detect finer dose. Alternatively, the detection technology indicating filed effect uses resistance peak referred to as Dirac point, enabling it to detect minute-dose. To form an electric field to utilize this, it is critical to form an electric potential layer through insulation materials and there is the need of conducting studies on the dielectric properties which may vary depending on the thickness of insulation materials. Thus, in this study, the author prepared constant-potential formation layer using PIB deposition and analyzed the applicability of it through analyzing its insulating effect and properties. Constant-potential formation layers of various thicknesses were prepared using Si-based oxide as insulation material and the drift current measured in accordance with the applied voltage was calculated into resistance so as to analyze the properties of resistance in accordance with insulation thicknesses. As a result, the applied voltage of 2V and 3V showed resistance peak and this resistance peak shifted from 3V to 2V with an increase in the thickness of insulation material. Through the preparation of insulation material layer using PIB method based on the above results, the author has proved the applicability of the findings of this study to the researches into next-generation field effect detection system.
