        다람쥐 원숭이의 Bordetella bronchiseptica 감염 예 : Saimiri sciureus

        A dead, female, 3 years old, squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus) was submitted and examined. Before death the monkey has showed lethargy, recumbency and inappetence since November 14, 2001 and died in November 17. Grossly much fibrin was deposited on the pleura of right lung, pericardium, and diaphragm(pleural part). And reddening of right lung was seen. Histopathologically lung showed severe fibrinous pleuritis, severe edema, thrombosis, and focal necrosis in parenchyma. Also much fibrin and mononuclear cells were deposited on the pericardium. In bacterial culture on the pleura and parenchyma of lung, and pericardium, B. bronchiseptica was isolated. Therefore we confirmed this case as the fatal case by B. bronchiseptica in squirrel monkey.

        Selection of Suitable Species of Chlorella, Nannochloris, and Nannochloropsis in High- and Low-Temperature Seasons for Mass Culture of the Rotifer Brachionus plicatilis

        To find seasonally optimal microalgae for mass culture of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis, the growth rates of 12 microalgal species (two marine Chlorella spp., five marine Nannochloris spp., two marine Nannochloropsis spp., one estuarine Nannochloropsis sp., and two estuarine Chlorella spp.) were compared at $25^{\circ}C$ at 15 psu and 30 psu. Among these, six species showing high growth rates were chosen and examined again at high ($30^{\circ}C$ and $32^{\circ}C$) and low ($10^{\circ}C$) temperatures. Their amino and fatty acids and the dietary value of the rotifers that fed on each microalgal species were examined. Nannochloris sp. (KMMCC-119) and Chlorella vulgaris (KMMCC-120) showed the highest growth rates at temperatures over $30^{\circ}C$ and at $10^{\circ}C$, respectively. The growth rate of Nannochloris was higher than those of Chlorella and Nannochloropsis at high temperatures, but lower than those of the latter at low temperatures. The growth rate of rotifers fed on Nannochloropsis was highest and that of those fed on Chlorella was lowest. Levels of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid were highest in Nannochloropsis and lowest in Nannochloris. However, total amino acid content was highest in Nannochloris and lowest in Chlorella. In conclusion, Nannochloropsis sp. (KMMCC-33) was the best microalgal species for the mass culture of the rotifer. However, during high- or low-temperature seasons in which Nannochloropsis does not grow well, Nannochloris spp. (KMMCC-119, 395) and C. vulgaris (KMMCC-120) would adequately replace Nannochloropsis sp. (KMMCC-33).

        Development of Economical Fertilizer-Based Media for Mass Culturing of Nannochloropsis oceanica

        This study was conducted to develop economical agricultural fertilizer media for the mass culturing of Nannochloropsis oceanica. Specific growth rates of N. oceanica cultured with differing concentrations of commercial compounds, urea fertilizers, and trace elements (Zn, Cu, Co, Mo) were compared with the growth rate in f/2 medium. Among the various added trace elements, $CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O$ was most effective for high growth of N. oceanica. The main nitrogen source in the agricultural fertilizers was ammonium, which was unsuitable for the growth of N. oceanica. Thus, the fertilizer at a lower concentration infused with $NaNO_3$ as a nitrogen source was more effective than fertilizer at higher concentrations. In this study, the growth of N. oceanica cultured with an agricultural fertilizer medium composed of compound fertilizer (41.7 mg/L), urea fertilizer (34.4 mg/L), $NaNO_3$ (150 mg/L), and $CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O$ (0.0588 mg/L) was similar to that of N. oceanica cultured in f/2 medium.

      • GG-29 : A case of lipoleiomyoma of uterus in postmenopausal women

        A 55-year-old, gravid 5, para 3, postmenopausal woman was referred to our institution for further evaluation and management of a possible ovarian cystic teratoma based on computed tomography (CT) findings. She experienced menopause at the age of 54 years and had not received any previous hormone therapy. She underwent bilateral tubal ligation 25 years ago. A pelvic examination revealed a uterus that was enlarged to 10 weeks gestational size, and both adnexa were non palpable. The laboratory workups, including serum tumor marker levels were unremarkable. Ultrasonography showed a 5.9×4.1 cm hyperechoic round subserosal uterine mass partially encased by a hypoechoic rim. The endometrial thickness was 8mm. On re-evaluating the CT scan obtained previously, we found that this tumor originated from the uterus rather than the ovary. To confirm the exact origin of the tumor, we performed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The MRI scan showed a 5.7 cm well-circumscribed mass in the anterior wall of the uterine corpus. T1- and T2-weighted images revealed a heterogeneous, hyperintense, subserosal mass with a well-defined margin. In addition, the fat-suppressed T1-weighted images revealed low signal intensity within the mass. These findings were consistent with lipoleiomyoma. Other findings were unremarkable. At our institute, she underwent a total laparoscopic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy to overcome the bleeding. The final pathological diagnosis was lipoleiomyoma and adenomyosis. The tumor was mainly composed of mature lipocytes. Some intricate spindle-like smooth muscle cells were also observed. No evidence of malignancy was observed.

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We introduce the family of <I>k-gap-planar graphs</I> for k ≥ 0 , i.e., graphs that have a drawing in which each crossing is assigned to one of the two involved edges and each edge is assigned at most <I>k</I> of its crossings. This definition is motivated by applications in edge casing, as a <I>k</I>-gap-planar graph can be drawn crossing-free after introducing at most <I>k</I> local gaps per edge. We present results on the maximum density of <I>k</I>-gap-planar graphs, their relationship to other classes of beyond-planar graphs, characterization of <I>k</I>-gap-planar complete graphs, and the computational complexity of recognizing <I>k</I>-gap-planar graphs.</P>

        In this life, drivers and passengers should create HVAC environment in the automobile interior which is not only for convenient transportation but also for comfortable feeling with dwelling culture. The latest automobiles give much importance for the role of HVAC system that controls the environment of the area for passengers more than just basic capability. There are some factors like solar radiant heat, surface temperature, air conditioning system(temperature, humidity, air current, velocity), and dust for the factor which have an effect on the HVAC environment in the automobile interior, and these are being carried for the HVAC environment delivered an individual character. In this study, we drew the automobile interior as three dimension and arranged a method of numerical analysis on HVAC environment in the automobile interior through displaying temperature distribution of automobile interior according to temperature and velocity of air condition and compared with experimental values.

        고전분 중만생 감자 ‘오륜’

        ‘Oryun’ was developed in 2012 through crossing ‘Atlantic’ and ‘CIP 705’ followed by seedling and line selections at the Special Crops Research Institute, Gangwon-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services (ARES). The regional yield trials were conducted three times from 2010 to 2012. The growth characteristics of ‘Oryun’ include high vigor, tolerant to lodging, and semi-erected. ‘Oryun’ has white flower, short oval tuber with yellow skin and white flesh. The dormant period of ‘Oryun’ was 90~100 days after harvest, which was 5~10 days longer than ‘Superior’. The average tuber yield of ‘Oryun’ for the three years (2010~2012) was 36.8 M/T per ha and the specific gravity was 1.080, which was higher than that of ‘Superior’. In addition, the variety can be suitable to environment–friendly potato production because of tolerance to late blight (Phytophthora infestans). ‘Oryun’ was applied for Korea Seed & Variety Service with No. 62 in 2013.

      • RE-17 : Recurrence of ovarian endometrioma in adolescents after conservative surgical treatment

        목적: To evaluate the cumulative recurrence rate of endometriomas after a laparoscopic endometriotic cyst enucleation in adolescents and to find the factors associated with recurrence. 방법: A multicenter retrospective cohort study was performed at 3 gynecologic surgery centers between January 2000 and December 2010. Patients surgically treated by laparoscopic enucleation of endometriotic cysts younger than 20 years old were selected. We excluded patients who had reproductive tract anomalies. Endometrioma recurrence was considered when transvaginal or transrectal sonography indicated a cystic mass with a diameter of ≥ 20 mm. 결과: In total, 105 patients were followed up for 47.3 ± 44.3 months (range, 3 - 161 months). Seventeen patients (16.2 %) experienced recurrence after the first-line surgery and 8 patients (7.6 %) underwent a second surgery. The median time to recurrence was 51.1 ± 9.1 months (SEM) (range, 8 - 111 months). The cumulative recurrence rates of endometrioma per patient at 24, 36, 60 and 96 months after the first-line surgery were 6.4 %, 10 %, 19.9 % and 30.9 %, respectively. Surgical characteristics such as the diameter of the cyst, rAFS stage, unilateral or bilateral involvement, co-existence of deep endometriosis were not associated with the recurrence in this age group. 결론: The short-term recurrence rate in adolescent after the first-line surgery is relatively low but is appears to be higher according to the follow- up duration. Long-term and strict follow up is needed who have undergone surgical treatment for endometriosis in adolescent period.
