This paper mainly uses the research method of literature and has a collation and research of the related regulations and laws to analysis the history of the rivers and the current status of the river development of China. China has experienced a few thousands years of farming history and until 1970, the late 70s of last century, it has ended the long time of farming and irrigation to the new time. After this, China has entered the industry time. The society has a rapid development, but the pollution of the water becomes more and more serious. Meanwhile, the surrounding environment of the rivers is severely destroyed. After the 80s of last century, the regulations and laws of the management of rivers have been issued. For example, the river course regulations of the People’s Republic of China, the Waters Safe Law, Water Pollution Control Act and the related laws have been issued, then in 90’s in last century some other laws were issued in succession to make the Chinese rivers management a certain sound. But China is still at the age of development and still has a long way to go comparing with the developed countries. Therefore, the river management in China still needs further improvement and reform.
