제품 디자인 프로세스를 위한 표정 부호화 시스템(FACS) 적용성에 대한 연구

사용자와 감성적인 소통(Emotional Communication)이 중요한 제품 디자인 영역에서 디자이너가 사용자 감성을 보다 명확하고 신속하게 파악하는 것은 제품 디자인 연구의 매우 핵심적인 활동이다. 이에 본 연구는 제품디자인과정에 감성측정의 활용가능성을 높이기 위한 방법으로서 행위적 감성 측정 방법인 표정 부호화 시스템(Facial Action Coding System, FACS)을 제품디자인 평가에 활용하였다. 표본으로 선정한 감성 제품의 Image Map을 활용하여 긍정적, 부정적, 중성 감성을 유발하는 제품 자극물 총 6개를 선정하여 20대 일반 제품 사용자를 실험 대상으로 FACS 실험을 진행하고 사용자 얼굴 표정을 통하여 자극물에 대한 감성상태를 분석하였다. 이러한 실험을 통하여 표정 부호화 시스템이 제품디자인에 적용 과정에서 “사용자 무의식적인 얼굴 표정을 기록할 수 있다” 등 장단점을 분석하였으며 “사용자 반응도 높은 제품 자극물을 선정해야 한다” 등 적용방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 향후 새로운 제품을 시장에 출시하기 전에 제품디자인 시안 단계에서 사전 사용자 감성 예측 방법으로 FACS를 활용성 검토에 도움을 줄 것으로 전망된다. With more emphasis on emotional communication with users in product design field, designers’ clear and prompt grasp of user’s emotion has become the core activity in product design research. To increase the flexibility applying emotion measurement in the process of product design, this study has used Facial Action Coding System (FACS) of behavioral emotion measurement method in product design evaluation. To select specimens, it has flexibly used the emotional product Image Map. Then this study has selected six product irritants inducing positive, negative and neutral emotions, and conducted FACS experiment with ordinary product users of 20 generations as the experimental subject, and analyzed users’ emotional state in response to the irritants through their facial expressions. It also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of FACS in the process of product design, such as “recording users unconscious facial expressions” and puts forward some applicable schemes, such as “choosing a product stimulus with high user response”. It is expected that this paper can be helpful to the flexibility of FACS as a method to predict users emotion in advance at the trial stage of product design before launching them to the market.

스마트폰 GUI 디자인 요소가 사용자경험 요인에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구

스마트폰 시장 발전 현황의 고찰을 통해 2010년부터 스마트폰 시장의 발전 속도가 느려지고 성장률은 매년 감소되고 있다는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이에 스마트폰 GUI 디자인은 하나의 주요 차별화 전략으로 자리매김 할 것이다. 또한, 사용자들이 스마트폰 사용경험에 대한 욕구가 점점 높아지고 있다. 이런 연구배경 속에서 본 논문의 목적은 중국 20대 스마트폰 사용자를 대상으로 GUI 디자인과 사용경험 간의 상호 연관성을 조사 분석하며 스마트폰 GUI 디자인이 사용경험에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 본 논문은 선행연구를 통해 GUI 시각적인 구성 요소 5개를 도출하였으며 온라인 리뷰 텍스트 분석법과 KJ법을 이용하여 스마트폰 사용경험 5가지의 요인을 추출하였다. 또한, 본 연구는 중국 20대 스마트폰 사용자를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 GUI 디자인과 사용경험 간의 연관성을 분석하였다. 조사결과에 바탕으로 사용자경험을 향상시키기 위한 스마트폰 GUI 요소의 디자인 방향을 제시하였다. It is obvious that the sales of smart phones are increasing every year whereas the growth rate is decreasing year by year from 2010 through the investigation of the current situation of the smartphone market. Therefore, the GUI design of smartphones has gradually become the major design difference and selling point. In this research background, the purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyze the relationship between GUI design and user experience which takes the 20 generation smartphone users in China as the research objects, so as to understand the impact of GUI design on user experience. In this paper, five visual elements of GUI design are derived from prior study, and five essential factors of user experience are educed by using online review text analysis and KJ. Finally, this thesis makes a questionnaire survey on the 20 generation smartphone users in China, and analyzes the influence of GUI design on the user experience. Meanwhile, we put forward some suggestions for improving the user experience on the basis of the survey results.
