As Decentralized Generation(DG) becomes more reliable and economically feasible, it is expected that a higher application of DG units would be interconnected to the existing grids. This new maket penetration of DG technologies is linked to a large number of factors like technologies costs and performances, interconnection issues, safety, market regulations, environmental issues or grid connection constrains. Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has researched performance characteristics of the 60kW class 1) basic strat-up & shutdown operation analysis 2) interconnection test 3) MGT-absorption chiller-heater system in the local condition. Variations of heat recovery from exhaust gas has measured according to micro gas turbine output of 15, 30, 45, 60㎾. From those results, the performance of the MGT-absorption chiller/heater system has been evaluated. The suggested strategy and experience for the evaluation of the distributed generation will be used for the introduction of other distributed generation technologies into the grid in the future.

As the distributed generation becomes more reliable and economically feasible, it is expected that a higher application of the distributed generation units would be interconnected to the existing grids. This paper describes the results for the mechanical and environmental tests of pretreatment system material. Mechanical Characteristics make differences between parent / weldment, Notch existence / non-existence and air/H₂O conditions. As a result, the life of pipe lines needs to maintain and fit for the operating period. Based on actual situations, the tension test of pipe welding-parts is carried out varying the exposure time of hydrogen sulfide and the fatigue resistance test is also performed inserting a notch into the pipe welding part, being exposed to the hydrogen sulfide environment for 720 hours.

With the increase of energy demand, the emission of CO₂ is also likely to increase by at least the same amount because energy supply will be based on fossil fuels, which is more apparent in a number of developing countries. The goals of this project are to develope the Fuel system of Land Fill Gas for GT co-generation system. The fuel system mainly consists of sulfur removal tower, biogas compressor and many filtering systems. A computational fluid dynamics study in the bio gas sulfur removal tower and sulfur absorption filter was carried out. Understanding of the flow in the sulfur removal tower and sulfur adsorption filter obtained by this study can be used to identify the problems in the sulfur removal tower and to improve the sulfur removal efficiency of the sulfur removal tower. Resistance material modeling is used to simulate the sulfur adsorption filter, and the resistance coefficient was adjusted to reflect the experimental pressure loss value. And the pressure loss change with the flowrate is predicted here.

KEPOD (Korea Electric Power Corporation) is performing the project to develope the Distributed Micro Gas Turbine (MGT) technologies by using Swine BID-ENERGY. This paper describes the plans and strategies for the renewable energy of MGT on actual grid-connection under Korean situations. KEPOD also, has a research plan on bio-gas pretreatment system applicable to our domestic swine renewable resources and is performing concept design of pilot plant to test grid operation. In addition, this testing will be conducted in order to respond to a wide variety of needs for application and economic evaluation in the field of On-site generation.

Availability of reliable and affordable energy supply is a prerequisite for economic growth. Renewables are the third largest contributor to global electricity production after coal and natural gas and account for a share of 18%. Power generating capacity from renewables has increased to around 900GW by the year 2007. Today biodiesel fuels have been in commercial use in many countries and recently the world-wide biodiesel market has experienced considerable growth, which is partly due to various tax concession programs and other financial incentives. In Korea, biodiesel has already been used for transportation fuel, but not used for power generation fuel yet. Korean government has a strategy for renewable energy propagation, especially the goal of power generation amount by renewable energy is 3% of total power production by 2012. This paper focuses on the feasibility study for adaptability and strategy of using biodiesel as power generation fuel. The study also has the plan to replace the fuel of thermal power plant, gas turbine and distributed power system. As the increase of biodiesel fuel, I look forward to environment-friendly power generation and the strategy of Renewable Portfolio Standards(RPS).

As the distributed generation becomes more reliable and economically feasible, it is expected that a higher application of the distributed generation units would be interconnected to the existing grids. In this context, the Micro Gas Turbines (MGT) by using Bio-gas is being considered as a promising solution. In order to propose a feasible concept of those technologies such as improving environmental effect and economics, we performed a sensitivity study for a biomass fueled MGT using a simulation model. The study consists of 1) the fundamental modeling using manufacturer's technical specifications, 2) the correction with the experimental data, and 3) the prediction of off-design characteristics. The performance analysis model was developed by PEPSE-GT 72, commercial steam/gas turbine simulation technicque.
