본 연구는 노년영화를 통해 본 노인 자살시도자의 죽음을 분석함으로써 노년기의 삶의 질이 곧 죽음과 연결될 수 있음을 논의한다. 인류역사상 인구지진이라 불려질 정도의 고령화의 속도는 유례없는 현실이다. 이와 동시에 한국사회는 OECD 국가중 노인자살 1위의 자리를 고수하고 있다. 이를 반영하듯 한국의 노년영화는 노년에 관한 사회문제를 관객에게 전달하여 노년인식에 대한 성찰을 하도록 하는 영화의 한 장르로 자리매김 한다. 이러한 노년영화 중 「죽여주는 여자(영어명: 박카스 레이디)」에 등장하는 독거노인의 자살시도 행위를 통한 노년기의 삶과 죽음을 조명한다. 길어진 노년기 노인의 삶, 특히 홀로 살아가야 할 독거노인의 고통스런 삶을 벗어나기 위해 자살시도를 선택한 비극적 삶의 마무리는 아름답지 못한 부자연스런 삶이다. 노년기의 삶에 있어서 독거노인 특히 남성 독거노인의 홀로아리랑은 어두컴컴한 긴 터널과도 같은 삶을 빠져나오기 힘든 상황에서 극단적 선택을 한다. 이는 독거노인 혼자만의 힘으로 삶은 물론 죽음조차도 견뎌내기 힘듦을 의미한다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 노년기 노인의 삶의 질 변화를 위한 태도, 인식전환 및 노인자살을 예방하고 질 좋은 죽음을 위한 웰다잉 교육의 필요성에 대한 기초자료로 제공한다. This study is meant to discuss the quality of life in old age that can be connected to death by analyzing the death of suicide attempters through old age movies. The rate of aging is unprecedentably speedy in human history is the reality. At the same time, Korea is stands in number one suicide among OECD countries. Reflecting of this, Korean elderly films have become a genre of movies that convey social problems related to elder age to audiences and reflect on old-age awareness. Among these elderly films, the life and death of the elderly through suicide attempt of the elderly living alone in the 'woman who kills(Bacchus lady) is illuminated. The elderly life in the lengthened life, especially, the end of a tragic life for those who has to lived alone choose suicide attempt to escaped from the suffering life is unbeautiful and is unnatural life. The life of elderly, especially to the elders live-alone in ‘Hollo Arirang’ Sonata male which have them an extreme choose to escape from the hard and difficult situation life as if in a long and darkness tunnel. This means that it is difficult to endure life and death as well by live-alone elderly himself. Therefore, this study provides basic data on the necessity of well-dying education for the elderly to prevent from elderly suicide and die well through attitude, recognition change and preparation of life quality for the elderly.

This study examined the life history of the elderly who had experienced suicide attempts. The purpose of this study was to provide evidence – based data for developing policies and practical approaches to prevent the suicide of elderly people and improve their quality of life. The life of the elderly living alone in a period of catastrophic ‘poverty and hardship’ constituted the dimension of life. The participants, who had dreamed of a rainbow life, had to give up the life they expected after experiencing ‘bereavement and suicide’ with their spouse. In particular, a participant who lived alone, was suffering from illness and became pessimistic about their reality, ultimately made the extreme choice of a ‘suicide attempt.’ Finally, at the stage of adaptation, life was finally felt as ‘Water flows as you live.’ This suggests that it is insufficient for elderly living alone to make a life change by their will alone. Based on these results, this paper presents policy and practical suggestions.
