This study aims to analyze the relationship among job demand, job engagement, job burnout targeting 405 forest interpreters chosen from social services jobs and attended in work-training course in 2015. The results are as follows. Firstly, it was found that factors of job demand for forest interpreters are role overload, work profession, role conflict, role cognition. Second, the mean of job burnout of forest interpreters was 2.93 lower than the median and the mean of job engagement was 4.12 higher than the median. Third, as a result of the analyzing the impact of job demand on the job burnout and engagement, it showed that job demand effected on job burnout and engagement and increasing of the role overload among the factors of job demand increase the job burnout, and job engagement decreases as role conflict increases. Also, it was found that as the role cognition of forest interpreters increases, the job burnout decreases and the job engagement increases.

This study intends to evaluate visual preference and image for 10 types of forest sceneries which have own distinct characteristics without overlapping each other among 22 types of beautiful forest sceneries based on Korea National Parks. Z scale and paired comparison methods were used to analyze visual preference for forest scenery, and SD scale method was also adopted to assess visual image for forest scenery. Experiments were conducted with 3 different university students groups. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the evaluation results of Z scale (N=70) and paired comparison (N=64) methods show similar visual preference for different types of forest scenery. ‘Scenery inside forests’ and ‘valley and rock’ sceneries have the highest level of preference, and ‘panorama of ridges’, ‘ridge of curious rock peaks’, and ‘waterfall and cliff’ also have relatively higher preference level than others. However, ‘community of dead trees’ has the lowest preference in forest sceneries. Second, the factor analysis outputs of the image scores for beautiful forest scenery types by SD scale (N=66) show 3 factors of ‘mysterious charm’, ‘colorful sense’, and ‘vividness/ variety’. Examined the variables of forest scenery types for each factor, the image of ‘mysterious charm’ is based on the sceneries of mountain ridges, the image of ‘colorful sense’ is focused on the sceneries of colorexpressed sense of the season, and the image of ‘vividness/variety’ is based on the sceneries of waterscape and curious rock peaks.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a visitor survey which provides demographical characteristics, a profile of the characteristic, travel behavior in different forest trails; Bukhansan trail, Uljin trail, Jirisan trail. Bukhansan trail (second course) is about 3 km and many visitors are nearby residents for the walking. Uljin trail is 80 km, especially conducting visitor reservation guide system and most visitors are 30s and 50s. Jirisan trail is total 209.3 km (a total of 17 courses), networking regional trail routes and was most popular between the ages of 20 and 39. The results showed that Bukhansan trail was used for light walking course, and visitors preferred health related activities. In Uljin trail, visitors expected trekking with nature-based activities and visitors of Jirisan trail seemed to prefer trekking and request more trail`s walkability than other trail users.

The aim of this research was to investigate how a family forest education program can improve communication skills, parenting efficacy, and family strengths. For this study, 165 people answered survey questions. The sample group included 103 parents, and 62 children, all of which were family forest education program participants at the National Center for Forest Education, in Hoengseong, Korea. Surveys were conducted before and after participants had taken part in the program. Demographic information, motivation, satisfaction, communication skills, and parenting efficacy were investigated in the surveys. The results showed a statistically significant increase in the level of family strengths of parents and children after the program. Moreover, the program improved parenting efficacy, and parent-child communication skills, which are deeply related to family strengths. In other words, the family forest education program contributed to the enhancement of family strengths. This study verifies the need for continued research in forest education programs.

This study analyzed the effectiveness of the forest education program for teacher training. The training program was conducted at the National Center for Forest Activities, in Hoengseong, Korea in August 2017. Presurveys and postsurveys were administered to 46, K-12 teachers who participated in the forest education program. The results showed a statistically significant increase in the teachers’ environmental sensitivity, eco-friendly teaching attitude, and teacher efficacy after the program. Survey participants expressed a slightly lower confidence in terms of teacher efficacy after participating in the program. This confirms the need for a training program with a focus on practical teaching skills, which would help teachers become more confident in providing forest education. This study verifies the effectiveness of the forest education program for teachers, who play an important role in developing students’ environmental sensitivity and eco-friendly attitude. Furthermore, it suggests the need to develop more effective forest education programs for teacher training.

Trail is a main infrastructure for various forest recreational activities. In this study, the recreational supply (trail) and demand (trail program according to visitor characteristics, preferred forest activities) were studied. Through the application of a multiple correspondence analysis and cross tabulation analysis, 3 trails (Bukhansan trail, Uljin trail, Jirisan trail) were identified. On this study, visitor demands for trail program participation, preferred forest recreational activities, program contents and program operations. Visitors expressed positive attitude toward trail program participating and showed characteristics with the differences. Young visitors preferred active experience program and middle aged visitors more liked health program such as forest therapy. On site program and self guided interpretation were preferred for program operation. In Bukhansan trail, continuous health program (1~2 hours) would be proper and it needs to adapt various nature activities in the Uljin trail. For the Jirisan trail, self guided program would be developed in many ways.
