        모바일 증강현실을 위한 특징점 인식, 추적 기술 및 사례 연구

        최근 증강현실 분야에서 특징점 인식 및 추적 기술은 비마커 기반의 증강 현실 서비스 구현에 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 특징점 인식 및 추적 기술은 오래 전부터 컴퓨터 비전 등 여러 분야의 많은 연구자들에 의해 심도있게 연구되어 왔으며, 특히 최근 급성장하고 있는 모바일 관련 시스템에 적용하기 위해 모바일 임베디드 환경에 접목 가능한 특징점 기반의 다양한 인식 및 추적 기술들이 소개되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 널리 활용되고 있는 특징점 기반의 매칭 및 추적의 다양한 핵심 요소 기술 (특징점 추출, 특징점 기술, 특징점 매칭 및 추적)에 대한 최신 동향을 분석하고, 본 한국과학기술연구원 연구팀이 수행한 모바일 증강현실 서비스 관련 사례 연구인 관광 지도인식 및 추적 연구를 소개하고자 한다. In recent years, keypoint recognition and tracking technologies are considered as crucial task in many practical systems for markerless augmented reality. The keypoint recognition and technologies are widely studied in many research areas, including computer vision, robot navigation, human computer interaction, and etc. Moreover, due to the rapid growth of mobile market related to augmented reality applications, several effective keypoint-based matching and tracking methods have been introduced by considering mobile embedded systems. Therefore, in this paper, we extensively analyze the recent research trends on keypoint-based recognition and tracking with several core components: keypoint detection, description, matching, and tracking. Then, we also present one of our research related to mobile augmented reality, named mobile tour guide system, by real-time recognition and tracking of tour maps on mobile devices.

        비접촉식 지문의 날인 지문과의 호환성 평가 연구

        본 논문은 비접촉식 지문 영상 획득 방식에 대한 소개와 함께 비접촉식 지문 영상의 유용성을 증명하기 위해, 현재 경찰청 등에서 사용되는 날인 지문과의 호환성을 접촉식 눌림 지문과 비교를 통해 평가한다. 이를 위하여 획득한 비접촉식 지문 영상과 접촉식 지문과의 차이를 분석하고, 비접촉식 지문 영상의 문제점인 상대적으로 낮은 지문의 명암 대비, 해상도 차이를 보정하여 접촉식 날인 지문과의 정합 성능을 예측하였으며 특징점 기반의 정합 알고리즘을 사용하여 정합을 수행한 결과, 비접촉식 지문 영상은 일반 접촉식 눌림 영상에 비해 접촉식 날인 지문과의 인식 성능이 약 2.5% 하락하지만, 기존 연구 사례와 비교하여 볼 때 상당히 높은 수준의 성능인 EER 7.9%를 보임을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구 결과는 비접촉식 지문 인식의 유용성을 증명하여 사용 확대를 가능하게 하고, 향후 비접촉식과 접촉식 지문 인식 시스템 통합 시 요구되어지는 호환성 문제에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이라 생각된다. The purpose of this paper is the brief introduction of touchless fingerprint recognition and the assessment of interoperability between touchless and legacy rolled fingerprints for the wide use of touchless fingerprint recognition system. In order to assess the interoperability, the contrast and resolution of the touchless images are optimized firstly. And we perform the matching by using conventional minutiae-based matcher. Experimental results are promising that our touchless fingerprints have enough matching performance with equal error rate 7.9%. We can expect that our paper will make a significant contribution to the wide use of touchless fingerprint recognition and the increment of interoperability in the system integration between touchless-based and touch-based fingerprint systems.

        카르슈텐 횔러<SUP>Carsten Höller</SUP>의 ‘의혹의 실험실<SUP>Laboratory of Doubt</SUP>’ 연구

        Exhibiting actively in New York and European cities, Carsten Holler (b.1961) is a German artist whose comprehensive work encompasses a multitude of genres. In 1987 Holler embarked on his artistic career with an unusual combination of art and science present throughout his work, which was actually quite a natural path for him, as he had obtained a doctorate in phytopathology. In particular, Holler’s idiosyncratic approach toward art, which breaks from academism in art history, has provided motivation for this research. By employing the imagery of mushrooms, birds, insects, etc, which he had specialized in while in college, and installing mechanical devices, Carsten Holler induces the viewers to an experience of visual illusion or trickery. The foremost task in the thesis was set to classify and analyze a wide spectrum of Holler’s work and thus gain a closer understanding of his view of art and to comprehend it. Holler’s work, where communication and participation from viewers is considered a significant factor, has been importantly noted in Relational Aesthetics by Nicolas Bourriaud and Participatory Art by Claire Bishop. These two influential critics, having proposed critical theories to explain artistic phenomena since the surfacing of postmodernism, have had a great impact on categorizing and discussing highly convoluted and ambiguous principles of contemporary artists. Test Site, 2006 exhibited at Turbine Hall of Tate Modern exemplifies a piece of art that becomes complete only with the experience of the viewer and also creates a sense of “specific sociality” between the piece, the exhibition space and the viewers. In addition, I as the researcher paid special attention to the complex aspect of Test Site as being both aesthetical and playful. Holler has sought, through his art, to observe the viewers and focus on the process and outcome of their experiencing and reacting to his work. Among many concepts applicable, I as the researcher employed the concept of “doubt”, which I found intriguing in studying his work. This intrinsic characteristic, lead to “an expansion of autonomy” in the viewer; that is to say, the unusual experience and inflicted confusion, Holler argued, incite the viewers to develop their autonomy. Claiming that when a firm belief is broken, one’s self expands; Holler has experimented in a variety of ways of breaking such beliefs. Drawing a conclusion that doubt-making is the main theme which touches upon the entirety of Holler’s work, I took the title of Holler’s Laboratory of Doubt, 1999 as the subtitle of this thesis. In the contemporary art world where the matter of consilience has come to the surface and artists step outside of their traditional role and act as curators, filmmakers, or activists, to address their interests and issues, Carsten Holler has aspired to express not only optimistic feelings, like “happiness” with love for life, but also rather ambiguous concepts like “doubt” or “perplexity”. Overall, his work maintains an optimistic attitude toward the future and also evokes the issue of an establishment of each individual’s self and autonomy.

        This paper introduce a new touchless fingerprint sensor. Two mirrors are used to capture the side fingerprint images which cannot detectable using a single camera. We also propose the techniques which can solve the image contrast, nonuniform illumination, DOF(Depth of Field) problems. This new sensor leads to bringing new challenges in the field of fingerprint recognition.

        This paper introduce a new touchless fingerprint sensor. A single camera and a rotation mirror are used to capture all 5 fingerprint images which cannot be detectable using conventional fingerprint sensors. We also propose the techniques which can solve the image contrast, nonuniform illumination, DOF (Depth of Field) problems. This new sensor leads to bringing new challenges in the field of fingerprint recognition.

        Parents’ Perceptions and Responses to Parent-adolescent Conflict Situations: A Mixed Methods Approach

        본 연구는 부모-자녀 관계와 관련된 양적 변수에 따라 구분된 각 그룹들에서 부모자녀 갈등의 주제, 갈등상황에서 부모의 인식과 반응의 질적인 차이를 확인하고자 시도되었다. 국내 5개 도시에서 청소년 자녀를 둔 부모 103명이 부모효능감, 부모-자녀 의사소통, 부모-자녀 관계, 부모-자녀 갈등, 부모스트레스 관련 온라인 설문에 참여하였고, 이들은 청소년 자녀와의 갈등상황을 직접 기술하였다. 5개 변수의 군집분석결과 두 개의 그룹으로 분류되었고 두 그룹의 부모들은 모두 청소년 자녀와 갈등상황에서 실망, 분노, 걱정, 좌절 등의 감정을 경험하였으나 갈등을 인식하고 반응하는 양상에서는 차이가 있었다. 본 연구결과는 향후 부모자녀 관계를 향상시키기 위한 부모교육프로그램 구성의 기초자료가 될 것이다. Background: Understanding how parents cognitively and emotionally perceive and respond to parent-child conflicts would provide a basis for targeted and effective parent education programs. The specific aims of this online mixed methods research study were to (1) categorize parents of adolescents based on their level of parental self-efficacy, parent-child communication, parent-child relationships, parent-child conflicts, and parental stress; and (2) explore parent-child conflict situations and parents’ perceptions and responses to them in each group. Methods: A total of 103 parents with adolescent children aged 11∼16 years were recruited from five cities in Korea to participate in the study. Participants completed an online questionnaire about parent-child relationships and described a parent-child conflict situation that occurred within the past week and their perceptions and responses to it. We used cluster and content analyses for quantitative and qualitative data, respectively. Results: The study revealed two clusters: adequate parent-child relationship (group 1) and inadequate parent-child relationship (group 2). The key variable distinguishing the two groups was parental self-efficacy. Although parents in both groups generally experienced frustration, anger, worry, discouragement, and disappointment in the conflict situations, the two groups differed in their perceptions and responses to these situations. Conclusions: Results suggested that parent education programs should focus on improving parental self-efficacy. Additionally, the programs should provide an opportunity for parents to practice self-reflection, help them understand the link between emotion-thought-behavior based on cognitive model, and thus, effectively manage parent-child conflict situations.

      • 비접촉식 지문센서에서의 지문 영상 시퀀스 융합

        This paper proposes an system to generate rolled-equivalent fingerprints by mosaicking sequential images captured by an touch less device. To capture rolled-equivalent fingerprints, previous works use multiple cameras. However, the method in this paper captures sequential fingerprint images with a single camera and mosaic the images by estimating the transform between images through optical flow.
