      • Mechanoluminescent Particles for Ultrasound-Triggered Bioimaging Applications

        Molecular imaging has suffered from limited applications due to the short light penetration depth. Here, we developed mechanoluminescent (ML) particles that can non-invasively emit light in the deep tissue upon non-destructive ultrasound (US) stimulation. ML particles were synthesized through solid state reaction of ZnS:Ag, Co. In the photoluminescence spectra, two emission peaks were detected at 450 nm and 540 nm. ML particles, recharged with UV light, could emit concentrated light with US stimulation. Taken together, it has been demonstrated that synthesized ML particles could effectively trap light and emit intense light in response to US for molecular imaging applications.

        The Development of “Welfare Medical Service Network Model” for Community Care - Focusing on a Customized Integrated Care Model for Patriots and Veterans Welfare Services

        This study aims to develop a customized integrated care model for patriots and veterans welfare services following the legislation review of the fundamental laws of local community integrated care implemented as Korean style community care policies. Therefore, the study analyzed current patriots and veterans welfare delivery systems and sought out the creation of local community safety nets and patriots and veterans welfare governance tasks that can support the integrated services of patriots and veterans welfare and medical domains for patriots and veterans who need the care of their local communities for the rest of their lives. A customized integrated care model of patriots and veterans welfare services was drawn as a “welfare medical service network model” and in addition to local community welfare services, networks, voluntary services, and citizen participation plans of public medical care and patriots and veterans welfare related organizations that need connections were searched for. Therefore, as patriots and veterans welfare governance tasks for the settlement of a "welfare medical service network model", proposals were made for the integrated management of local community integrated care service delivery systems such as patriots and veterans welfare and welfare medical sector networks, patriots and veterans welfare related organization care culture, and sanctioned patriots and veterans welfare service expansions.

        한옥을 중심으로 한 한국형 재난 이미지 생성 결과 : 파인 튜닝 기술의 성능 비교 분석과 적용 가능성

        본 논문은 정보 인지가 취약한 계층에게 재난 상황을 효과적으로 알리기 위한 한국형 재난 이미지 생성의 새로운 접근법을 탐구한다. 현재까지의 재난 문자는 주로 텍스트를 이용하지만, 이는 고령층, 장애인, 외국인 등 다양한 사람들에게는 한계가 있음을 인식하고 있다. 이에 따라, 파인 튜닝 기술과 이미지 생성 모델을 이용해 한국의 특성과 지형에 맞는 재난 정보를 전달하는 방법을 연구한다. 특히 한옥이라는 한국의 대표적인 랜드마크를 중심으로 실험을 진행, 한국형 재난 이미지 생성을 위한 다양한 파인 튜닝 방법에 따른 결과를 확인하고, 성능을 분석한다. 결과적으로 각각의 파인 튜닝 기술들은 컴퓨터 사양, 프롬프트 설계, 연산 시간 등 추가적인 변수에 따른 성능 차이가 있어 추가 연구가 필요하다는 결론을 내린다. 본 논문의 연구는 국내뿐만 아니라 글로벌 재난 대응에도 적용할 수 있을 것으로 예상되며, 미래 재난 연구의 방향성을 제시한다. This paper explores a new approach to generating disaster images tailored for the Korean context, aiming to effectivelycommunicate disaster situations to populations that have difficulty processing information. While disaster notifications haveprimarily utilized text so far, it has been recognized that this method has limitations, especially for the elderly, the disabled, andforeigners. Accordingly, this study investigates methods of conveying disaster information suited to the characteristics andtopography of Korea by using fine-tuning techniques and image generation models. Experiments primarily focused on the 'Hanok',a representative Korean architectural landmark, were conducted to evaluate the results of various fine-tuning methods for creatingKorean-style disaster images and analyze their performance. The findings indicate that the performance of each fine-tuningtechnique varies depending on computer specifications, prompt design, computation time, and other variables, suggesting the needfor further research. The research presented in this paper is expected to be applicable not only domestically but also in globaldisaster response, providing direction for future disaster research.

        우리나라 노인의 가구형태와 주관적 건강상태의 관련성: 2017년 노인실태조사 자료를 이용하여

        Background: In Korea, the population is rapidly aging, and the types of households for the elderly are also diversifying. The self-ratedhealth of the elderly is a valuable health indicator that can comprehensively represent the overall quality of life along with physical,mental, and functional health. On the other hand, studies on the association between household type and self-rated health of theelderly are still insufficient. Thus, this study analyzed the association between household type and self-rated health by gender inKorean older adults. Methods: Using data from the analysis of the National Survey of Older Koreans 2017, 10,299 elderly people aged 65 and over weretargeted. For the accuracy of the analysis data, 9,910 people were selected as the study sample by excluding proxy responses, thosediagnosed with dementia, and non-response. And technical analysis, univariate analysis using the Rao-Scott chi-square test, andlogical regression analysis involving survey characteristics were conducted by gender. Results: According to the adjusted model with all variables, in both men and women, the odds ratio of self-rated health ‘bad’ in‘couple (with ill spouse)’ was significantly higher than ‘couple (with spouse)’. It was 2.54 (95% confidence interval [CI], 2.05–3.15) formen and 2.11 (95% CI, 1.70–2.62) for women. In addition, the odds ratio of self-rated health ‘bad’ in ‘living with adult children’ was1.43 (95% CI, 1.09–1.87) for men and 1.42 (95% CI, 1.15–1.75) for women, which was more significant in women than men. Conclusion: This study states that there is an association between gender, household type, and self-rated health of the elderly, andthe health of a spouse and cohabitation with children have a significant effect on self-rated health. As a result, in order to improvethe health status of the elderly, health promotion and health care policies involving the characteristics of the elderly’s gender andhousehold type are needed.

        두레 공동체문화의 현재성과 대안 가치 입론

        두레는 농작업을 위한 노동공동체이자, 연희문화의 연행주체이기도 했으며, 공동체의 위기 국면에서 정치적 결사체가 되기도 했다. 이는 이전에는 없던 새로움이었으며, ‘두레’라는 사건공동체의 문화적 특이성이다. 사건적인 관점 속에서 두레는 격절되는 것으로, 즉 새로운 국면과 조응하며 달리 존재하는 것으로 사유될 수 있다. 두레를 고정된 형태로 인식하지 않고 전승 환경에 따라 다른 모습과 형태로 변환되고 있는 실천으로 본다면, 그 현재성에 주목할 수 있다. 이 연구를 통해 말하고자 하는 두레는 원형이나 변질․소멸된 형태에 대한 서술보다는, 사건공동체로서 그 현재성을 어떻게 논의할 수 있을까 하는 관심에 있다. 이러한 관심 아래, 본 글에서는 입론의 차원에서 가능할 두레 연구의 실천 지형을 나타내고, 잠정적인 사례를 통해 논의의 구체성을 확보하고자 했다. 관광두레사업, 통두레 운동, 촛불행동이라는 세 가지 사례를 대상으로 하여 두레의 현재성과 대안 가치에 대한 논의를 수행했다. 이 사례 검토는 두레의 현재성과 대안 가치를 특정하려는 것이 아니다. 사실상 소멸된 것으로 여겨질 수밖에 없는 두레를, 그것이 가졌던 민속문화의 공동체성이 특정한 계기에 발현되는 양상을 두레의 지속으로 읽고자 하는 하나의 시도이다.

        1인 게임방송의 긍정적 효과성에 관한 연구: 게임 효능감을 중심으로

        The purpose of this study is to verify empirically the effects of BJ worship and perceived homophily on game efficacy through mediating effect of loyalty to viewing. 485 participants who had watched personal game broadcasting were collected as a sample through an online survey and the collected data were analyzed through structural equation modeling. The research model assuming full mediating effect and the alternative model assuming partial mediating effect were compared and bootstrapping was performed to analyze direct and indirect effects between variables. The results showed BJ worship and perceived homophily had significant effects on game efficacy through the full mediated effect of loyalty to viewing. The noteworthy contribution of this study is to verify how viewing personal game broadcasting has a significant impact on the formation of game efficacy and then ultimately provide positive perception of BJ. 본 연구는 1인 게임방송 BJ에 대한 숭배와 인지된 동종 선호가 시청 충성도의 매개효과를 통해 게임 효능감에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 검증하고자 하였다. 온라인 설문 조사를 통해 1인 게임방송 시청 경험이 있는 485명의 참가자들을 표본으로 수집하였으며, 수집된 데이터는 구조방정식모형 검증을 통해 분석되었다. 완전매개효과를 가정한 연구모형과 부분매개효과를 가정한 대안모형을 제시한 뒤 두 모형을 비교하였으며, 변인들 간의 직간접 효과를 분석하기 위해 부트스트래핑(bootstrapping)을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 BJ 숭배와 인지된 동종 선호는 시청 충성도의 완전매개효과를 통해 최종적으로 게임 효능감에도 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구는 1인 게임방송이 시청자들의 게임 효능감 형성에 유의미한 영향을 미친다는 점을 밝혀내어 BJ에 대한 긍정적 인식을 제공하였다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.

        Loss of ADAMTS15 Promotes Browning in 3T3-L1 White Adipocytes via Activation of β3-adrenergic Receptor

        ADAMTSs belong to the superfamily of secreted metalloendopeptidases, some of which are reported to be closely associated with obesity. However, the role of ADAMTS15 is not well characterized in adipocytes. This study investigates the effect of Adamts15 deficiency on lipid metabolism in 3T3-L1 and HIB1B adipocytes, with a focus on the role of browning of white adipocytes. Quantitative real-time PCR, immunoblot analysis, immunofluorescence, and staining methods were applied to evaluate the effects of ADAMTS15 on other target proteins and genes involved in lipid metabolism, after silencing Adamts15 by applying the siRNA technique. Our results demonstrate that ADAMTS15 is expressed in both white and brown adipocytes, and the deficiency of Adamts15 promotes browning of white adipocytes by enhancing the expression of brown adipocyte-specific genes and proteins. In addition, silencing of Adamts15 activates brown adipocytes and also upregulates lipid metabolic activity in both white and brown adipocytes, by increasing mitochondrial biogenesis as well as the levels of lipolytic and fat oxidative marker proteins, and reducing adipogenic factors. Moreover, mechanistic studies revealed that depletion of Adamts15 induces browning via activation of the β3AR-PKA-CREB signaling pathway. Taken together, our data unveiled a previously unknown mechanism of ADAMTS15 in the regulation of lipids, and the significance of this protein as a pharmacotherapeutic target to treat obesity-related metabolic disorders.

        A Method to Isolate Pericytes From the Mouse Urinary Bladder for the Study of Diabetic Bladder Dysfunction

        Purpose: Pericytes surround the endothelial cells in microvessels and play a distinct role in controlling vascular permeability and maturation. The loss of pericyte function is known to be associated with diabetic retinopathy and erectile dysfunction. This study aimed to establish a technique for the isolation of pericytes from the mouse urinary bladder and an in vitro model that mimics in vivo diabetic bladder dysfunction. Methods: To avoid contamination with epithelial cells, the urothelial layer was meticulously removed from the underlying submucosa and detrusor muscle layer. The tissues were cut into multiple pieces, and the fragmented tissues were settled by gravity into collagen I-coated culture plates. The cells were cultured under normal-glucose (5 mmol/L) or high-glucose (30 mmol/L) conditions, and tube formation, cell proliferation, and TUNEL assays were performed. We also performed hydroethidine staining to measure superoxide anion production. Results: We successfully isolated high-purity pericytes from the mouse urinary bladder. The cells were positively stained for platelet-derived growth factor receptor-β and NG2 and negatively stained for smooth muscle cell markers (desmin and myosin) and an endothelial cell marker (CD31). The number of tubes formed and the number of proliferating cells were significantly lower when the pericytes were exposed to high-glucose conditions compared with normal-glucose conditions. In addition, there were significant increases in superoxide anion production and the number of apoptotic cells when the pericytes were cultured under high-glucose conditions. Conclusions: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to isolate and culture pericytes from the mouse urinary bladder. Our model would be a useful tool for screening the efficacy of therapeutic candidates targeting pericyte function in diabetic bladder dysfunction and exploring the functional role of specific targets at the cellular level.
