        Gene Expression in Rat Hearts Following Oral Administration of a Single Hepatotoxic Dose of Acetaminophen

        Purpose: Toxicity caused by acetaminophen and its toxic mechanisms in the liver have been widely studied, including effects involving metabolism and oxidative stress. However, its adverse effects on heart have not been sufficiently investigated. This study evaluated the cardiac influence and molecular events occurring within the myocardium in rats treated with a dose of acetaminophen large enough to induce conventional liver damage. Materials and Methods: Male rats were orally administered a single dose of acetaminophen at 1,000 mg/kg-body weight, and subsequently examined for conventional toxicological parameters and for gene expression alterations to both the heart and liver 24 hours after administration. Results: Following treatment, serum biochemical parameters including aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were elevated. Histopathological alterations of necrosis were observed in the liver, but not in the heart. However, alterations in gene expression were observed in both the liver and heart 24 hours after dosing. Transcriptional profiling revealed that acetaminophen changed the expression of genes implicated in oxidative stress, inflammatory processes, and apoptosis in the heart as well as in the liver. The numbers of up-regulated and down-regulated genes in the heart were 271 and 81, respectively, based on a two-fold criterion. Conclusion: The induced expression of genes implicated in oxidative stress and inflammatory processes in the myocardium reflects molecular levels of injury caused by acetaminophen (APAP), which could not be identified by conventional histopathology.

        중학교 3학년 수학학습부진아가 함수 분야에서 겪는 어려움에 관한 사례 연구

        본 연구에서는 중학교 3학년 수학학습부진아가 함수 분야에서 나타나는 어려움과 이에 대한 지도방안에 대해 알아보고자 하는 목적으로 좀 더 심층적인 학습 부진 요인을 알아보기 위해 설문지, 인터뷰, 녹음과 관찰 등을 통한 사례연구를 하였다. 그 결과 수학학습부진아는 일반 학생들이 겪고 있는 어려움과 유사한 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 다음으로 수학학습부진아는 일반 학생들이 겪고 있는 어려움과 차이를 보이는 어려움으로 문제를 이해하는 데 어려움, 선수 학습 결손으로 인한 어려움, 형식화하여 답을 찾으려고 하는 어려움, 대수 기호의 구분을 정확히 하지 못함으로써 겪는 어려움 그리고 두 점을 지나는 직선의 기울기를 구하는데 있어 어려움을 겪는 것으로 나타났다.

        도시지역 초등학교 입학생의 예방접종 실태와 적기 예방접종 관련 요인

        Objectives: This study was designed to investigate the vaccination status and associated factors on timeliness of vaccine administration among school-entry aged children-selected Yuseong district, Daejeon, 2005. Methods: This study was based on data collected in February to March 2005. The subjects of survey was total 3,748 children. Among them, 3,458 children were selected final analysis. The parents of subjects answered the structured questionnares developed by reseacher with personal self-administration. This study examined the relationship between timeliness of vaccinations and characteristics of parents, vaccination- related knowledge, attitudes, vaccination providers using multipe logistic regression. The dependent variables were timeliness of DTaP3 vaccination and MMR1 vaccination. Results: The timeliness of vaccine administration was 80.3% in BCG, 89.5% in HepB1, 89.1% in HepB2, 92.7% in DTaP1, 86.4% in DTaP2, 74.2% in DTaP3, 68.8% in DTaP4, 93.8% in DTaP5, 92.7% in Polio1, 86.5% in Polio2, 74.1% in Polio3, 68.1% in Polio4, 67.7% in MMR1, 91.1% in MMR2. Factors associated with receiving DTaP3 vaccination as recommended were utilizing the private clinics and hospitals, keeping the immunization record, having a good knowledge of vaccination, having pediatric clinics in 1km distance, in case MMR1 vaccination were having a father younger than 40years, utilizing health center. Conclusions: For decreasing preventable disease outbreak by increasing timeliness of vaccinations, health centers have to cooperate with private clinics for keeping personal immunization record. Also, it is necessary to find and settle the socio-economical and psychosocial factors in low timeliness of vaccinations.

        PCO의 동종업계 및 타 업계 이직 결정요인과 이직률 감소방안에 대한 탐색적 연구: 재직자와 구인자의 인식 차이를 중심으로

        Purpose – This study was conducted to find out the determinants of turnover and ways to reduce turnover of the PCOs. Design, data, and methodology –In order to achieve the research goal, surveys and interviews were conducted targeting current employees and recruiters. In the survey, exploratory research was conducted on the priorities of turnover determinants and ways to reduce turnover, and interviews were conducted to confirm and understand them in depth.. Result – As a result, it was found that there were some differences between job seekers and recruiters in determining factors for turnover and ways to reduce turnover. In addition, there were some differences between the same industry and other industries. Conclusions – The results offer some insights for the convention industry. Practically, it suggests the ways to reduce PCO’s turnover. Academically, it presents the main determinants of turnover that can be used for the studies which related with PCO’s turnover.

      • Effects of Solution-state Crystallinity and Solution-wetting on the Performance of the Conjugated Polymer-based Transistor

        Conjugated polymers (CPs) have received attention due to broad applications for biosensor, organic field effect transistor (OFET), light-emitting diodes, and solar cells. Among various CPs, poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) has been widely studied due to solution-processability and relatively high carrier mobility. The carrier mobility can be determined by the crystallinity degree of CPs besides the molecular structure considering bandgap. However, it remains to be studied whether a solvent can be selected to increase crystallinity and transfer it to the film without crystals decomposition, and whether there is any further consideration during the film process. Herein, we studied the simple process to produce 1D P3HT nanostructures with high crystallinity by regulating the mixing rate of good and orthogonal solvents. Also, we investigated the effect of orthogonal solvents with different solubility parameters on the crystalline properties of P3HT thin film and mobility in its transistor.

        ‘평생교육사’의 역할 및 정체성 혼란의 원인으로서의 법적, 학문적, 제도적 여건의 탐색

        The role of a ‘lifelong educator’ is drawing attention as a key factor in the era of lifelong learning. The term ‘Lifelong Educator’ includes the word “education”. For the professionals, the name makes it possible to predict what the core field or main task of the role would be. In this regard, the word ‘education’ in the ‘Lifelong Educator’ makes the expectation and awareness that their role is largely related to education. In addition, occasionally the problems that are emerged because of increasing interest in life learning are considered as a problem of educator him/herself. The situation that concept of lifelong education is still confusing means that despite many studies being done, the academic identity and status of lifelong education which is the concept of lifelong educator was originated is not satisfactory. This realistic condition can be seen as a situation in which lifelong educators are not provided with enough power in their values and attitudes that need to be led in areas where they are required to perform. Lifelong educators need to form a professional identity and play a role with their own beliefs in their fields. Therefore, An objective of this study is to remind the public that the various conditions presented in lifelong education, in other words, regal, academic and institutional problems should be recognized as more fundamental problem and also should be solved preferentially. 평생교육 시대를 맞아 그 성공 여부를 가름하는 역할 자로서 ‘평생교육사’가 주목받고 있다. 이 분야의 전문가로서 법 제도화되어있고 국가 자격제도로도 관리된다. 그러나 평생교육사에 관한 관심의 증가와 함께 드러나는 문제들이 더러는 평생교육사의 역량과 개인의 문제로 귀결된다. 또한 필요에 의해 직무도 계속된 추가와 변경 가능한 것으로 인식하고 있다. 직업의 명칭은 그 역할의 핵심 분야나 주된 업무가 무엇인가를 예측할 수 있게 한다. 평생교육사라는 명칭 안에 쓰인 ‘교육’이라는 용어는 평생교육사의 역할이 대부분 교육과 관련된 것이라는 기대감과 인식을 하게 한다. 법도 그러한 의미를 뒷받침하나 도움보다는 오히려 평생교육사의 전문성과 이 전 교사와의 차별성을 해명해야 할 형편에 이르게 한다. 따라서 ‘평생학습사’라는 명칭으로 개선할 것을 제안하였다. 그리고 현재 사회교육과 평생교육은 다른 개념임에도 그 이론적 차이를 규명하지 않고 평생교육 및 평생교육사의 전신으로서 자리 잡아가고 있다. 이러한 개념적 혼용은 평생교육사의 역할과 정체성이 사회교육전문요원과 근본적으로 차이가 있다는 것을 간과한 것이다. 또한 평생교육사의 직업적 전문성과 존재 의미가 상당 부분 제도로써 보장되는 점은 기능주의와 ‘학교화’에 대한 불안감을 준다. 나아가 평생교육에 대한 기대, 문제의 해결, 학문적 연구 등도 제도적 기반에서 찾으려는 경향을 보인다. 이러한 현실적 여건은 평생교육사가 관련 분야에 대한 철학과 신념으로 직업의 정체성을 형성하며 본연의 역할을 찾아가는 데 있어 우호적인 여건은 아니다. 이 연구는 현재 평생교육사의 환경으로 영향을 미치는 여건들 즉 법적, 학문적, 제도적 여건이 가진 문제들을 제시하였다.
