        대승불교적 무아설의 입장에서 본 행복 - 󰡔유마경󰡕을 중심으로 -

        본 논문은 대승불교의 공사상을 대표하는 󰡔유마경󰡕을 분석하여, 그 속에 나타나는 공의 이론을 기반으로 ‘자아의 비존재를 주장하는 무아설’이 전개되는 논리를 살핀다. 아울러 무아설의 입장과 진제와 속제의 두 가지 차원의 진리를 나누어 보는 입장이 어떻게 상호 작용하여, 선악, 미추, 행불행, ‘세간’과 ‘출세간’을 둘로 보지 않는 ‘불이’(不二)의 논변이 성립하는지를 고찰한다. 불이론이 세속에서의 ‘행복’의 위치에 대해 갖는 함의는 매우 크다. ‘불이’(不二)의 입장은 단지 행복이나 불행 그 자체에 집착하지 않는 것 뿐 만 아니라 행복과 불행이 다르다고 보는 차별적 관점을 뛰어넘어서 평등한 시각을 가짐으로써 높은 차원에서의 행복을 가능하게 한다. 대승불교의 이 같은 초탈의 정신과 이 초탈의 정신에 따른 삶의 방식을‘공(空)의 윤리학’이라고 이름 붙일 수 있다. 이러한 초탈의 정신 속에서 자아는 부정되지만 타인에 대한 사랑과 배려는 강조될 수 있다. 초기불교에서 부정되었던 행복의 지위는 대승불교에서 새로운 시각에서 긍정되고 있다. 대승불교적 행복의 핵심은 이타심에 있다. 대승불교에서는 무아와 공을 이해하는 사람이야말로 이타적행위로 나아갈 수 있다고 한다. 대승불교의 공에 대한 체득에서 자비의 행위가 도출될 수 있다. 이때 자아는 부정되지만 타인에 대한 사랑과 배려는 강조된다. If we define happiness as “a pursuit of pleasure and comfort,” then there is little in the Buddhist scripture that could be said to be written about happiness. In fact, such a term would be seen only as a target of critique. It is this pursuit of happiness that propels one into the reality that life in the world is limited and inevitably unsatisfactory. The Vimalakīrti-nirdeśa, a signature text of the Mahayana tradition, addresses the pressing need to find a harmony between the abstract doctrine of no-self and the secular pursuit of wellbeing, and eventually teaches freedom from the attachment to self and shows how the no-self doctrine can be used in thought and practice to experience a happier and more peaceful state of being. The argument put forth is that as one gains insight into the truth of emptiness and resolves to embody that insight in the world, we perceive and practice our existence as co-arising relationships with all other beings, deeply rooted to one other within the universal emptiness of non-selfness. Far from a vision of nihilistic annihilation, the non-self teaching allows one to understand the impossibility of alienation and the immediacy of one’s connection to all others. Those who comprehend the truth of emptiness are free from fixed notions of self versus other, subject versus object, absolute good and evil, beauty and grotesqueness, and as a direct result, they become free from the experience of suffering itself. Those who are free from clinging to dualities, even as they can perceive and relate to them, free from attachments, even as they work intimately with others to bring mutual salvation, can be free from the experience of suffering as well. By overcoming the habits of creating reified dualities, which in turn create false expectations which lead only to endless disappointment and pain, realized individuals enter a state of perfect peacefulness, and freedom. This is the only happiness a Buddhist can be said to seek.

        Pak Chonghong’s Philosophical Analysis of Korean Buddhism and His Steps Towards Establishing an Eastern Philosophy

        Modern expansion in the scope of philosophy began an ongoing philosophicalintrospection into traditional Korean thought and Korean Buddhism, how theycan be defined, and what they mean. Yŏram Pak Chonghong (1903–1976) was aseminal figure who initiated this effort by making a groundbreaking proclamationfor the existence of a distinct Korean thought and identity. By proclaiming that thepast critically informed the present and vice versa, he tried to renew and revitalizethe Korean philosophy of the past, which had been locked away and displayed as anartifact or fossil, transforming it into a relevant, living philosophy of the present. Onthe other hand, he was a dedicated scholar of Korean thought who explored its practicalboundaries and content. He published works on Wŏnhyo and other Korean Buddhistphilosophers, as well as T’oegye and other Korean Confucians. Pak pointed to KoreanConfucianism and Buddhism as treasures awaiting excavation — and the need for anew methodological tool that could integrate Korean thought with the concepts andlogical methods of Western philosophy. These efforts firmly placed Korean thought — andby extension, Eastern philosophy — on the shelf of philosophy as a discipline. Thebreadth of sources and the scrutiny he gave them in his work set the standard of KoreanBuddhist scholarship that was unmatched for some time.         21년간 한국의 서리발생 시⋅공간 분포 특성과 경향

        In order to actively prepare to frost damage that occurs in the process of growing crops, the spatial and temporal distribution of frost occurrence in South Korea was derived using frost observation data from 20 regions over the past 21 years (2000∼2020). The main products are the number of frost days, first frost day, and last frost day by region. And the climatic trends of these results were identified by performing the Mann-Kendall trend test and Sen’s slope estimator. In South Korea, a lot of frost occurs in the inland area to the west of the Taebaek and Sobaek Mountains. Relatively closer to the coastal area, the number of frost days is small, the first frost day is slow, and the last frost day is early. The east coast region has fewer frost days, the first frost day is later, and the last frost day is earlier than the west coast region. The southern sea, the southeastern sea region, and the island region rarely experience frost. As a result of the annual time series trend analysis, although South Korea is a country where climate warming is progressing, there was no trend in reducing the number of frost days and slowing the first frost day, and it was found that the last frost day is delayed by 0.5 days per year. 농작물 생육 과정에서 서리에 의한 동상해 피해에 능동적으로 대비하기 위해, 지난 21년간(2000∼2020) 20개 지역의 서리관측 자료를 이용하여 한국 서리발생의 시공간적 분포 특성을 살폈다. 지역별 서리분포 특성은 서리일수, 첫 서리일, 끝 서리일로 표현하였다. 그리고 이러한 결과의 기후 경향은 Mann-Kendall trend test와 Sen’s slope estimator를 수행하여 확인하였다. 한국에서 대부분의 서리는 태백산맥과 소백산맥 서쪽 내륙지방에서 발생한다. 상대적으로 해안지역에 가까울수록 서리 발생일이 적고 첫서리일이 느리며 끝 서리일이 빠르다. 동해안지역은 서해안지역보다 서리일수가 적고 첫서리일이 느리며 끝서리일이 빠르다. 남해, 남동해, 도서지역은 거의 서리가 발생하지 않는다. 연간 시계열 추이 분석결과 한국은 기후온난화가 진행됨에도 불구하고, 서리일수가 줄어들거나 첫서리일이 늦춰지는 경향은 나타나지 않았으며, 끝서리일은 1년에 0.5일씩 늦춰지는 것으로 나타났다.

        The Rise of New Studies and Approaches in Korean Buddhism

        Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, a major shift has been witnessed in the research topics of Korean Buddhist Studies. Instead of remaining fixated on Buddhism in the Three Kingdoms period, scholars have switched the bulk of their attention towards Buddhism during the Chosŏn dynasty (1392–1910). Moreover, not only has the timeframe of scholarly interest shifted, but scholars have also come to redefine the study of religion more broadly. Rather than continuing to regard Buddhism as only an elitist venture, research now encompasses all human experiences related to the Buddhist tradition, particularly lay Buddhist practices of both male and female commoners. As a result, Buddhist practitioners who previously received very little, if any, scholarly attention are now in the limelight. Of course, we must not forget that such remarkable changes were brought about by both a shift in scholarly interest and more importantly by the discovery of new source materials, both domestically and internationally. Furthermore, the digitization of source materials and archives, along with research projects sponsored by the Korean government, have all contributed to bringing about a series of notable academic works to fruition. In highlighting some of these latest examples, this paper will analyze not only the current trends, but also gauge where and what the field is likely to explore in the future.

        IPA를 이용한 로드 사이클 동호인의 사이클 구매 시의 선택속성 분석

        Purpose: This study explores both importance and performance with IPA technique on cycle purchase of road cycle club. The purpose of this study is to propose an order of priority for purchase of road cycle and to search a fundamental information for management strategies of cycle retail store and promotion of cycle market. Method: To do this, 341 members participating in road cycle club were selected as a sample. Frequency analysis, exploratory analysis, Cronbach’s α, paired-t test, and IPA were carried out with SPSS 23.0 at a significant level of 0.05. The findings of the results show as follows. Results: First, an order of importance about selection attributes on cycle purchase was investigated, thus safety was the first, sequently followed by A/S expertise and design. Moreover, as for performance the first was safety like importance, sequently followed by shape and color. Second, the result of IPA about selection attributes on cycle purchase reported that the first quadrant (maintaining of current status) included 8 items of such as ‘A/S expertise’,‘price discount’, and ’convenience’. Also, the second quadrant (specific area for improvement) included 6 items of such as ‘A/S easiness’,‘A/S accessibility’, and ’A/S warranty’. Four items including ‘popular brand’, ‘sponsorship brand’, and ‘cheap price’ were located in the third quadrant (area of inferiority). Lastly, the fourth quadrant (less effort area) had 3 items such as ‘luxury brand’,‘import brand’, and ‘brand awareness“. Conclusion: This study suggested that for the first time, cycle business manager and dealer should invest in area of “specific area for improvement”including limited budget which thought by road cycle club members when they purchase cycle in terms of high-importance and low-performance. They should also plan and establish improvement strategies and projects which could meet performance perceived.
