The Effects of Micro-Environmental Factors on the House Dust Mite
조완제,손장열 대한건축학회 2007 Architectural research Vol.9 No.2
The proliferation of the House Dust Mite(HDM) is affected by temperature, humidity, ventilation, etc. Measuring temperature and humidity was performed at the very location where dust samplings take place and where they live in reality together with temperature and humidity of the ambient of the room. There has been discussion over the key environment factor of HDM survival; absolute humidity or relative humidity. It seems that relative humidity is the more important determinant for the mite's survival through the analysis of previous studies. Temperature, humidity, ventilation rate and Der P1 were measured in 4 flats in London. Mite allergen was detected in every house. Levels of Der P1 varied between <100ng/g and 22,778ng/g. Flats with high relative humidity(>50%) and poor ventilation(<0.5ach) showed higher levels of mite allergen than flats with lower humidity and adequate air change rate. Questionnaire survey was conducted and the result helped to confirm the findings from monitoring of environmental factors and the dust sampling.
풍동을 이용한 공동주택 단지의 계절별 풍압분포 특성 연구

Natural ventilation is one of best way to solve the IAQ problem. But it is not easy to predict the amount of fresh incoming air in the design stage. Computer simulation programme is often used before design and construction without wind tunnel test. For the accurate input data of simulation, wind tunnel test is recommended. An apartment complex which is located in Kimpo, Korea was chosen and tested by wind tunnel in this study. The distribution of wind pressure in winter and summer was analysed and the result of study could be useful for natural ventilation design.

Illusions and despairs variably characterize the life the nineteenth- century American intellectuals. Mark Twain and Henry Adams may be cases of the most disillusioned of the main current in the nineteenth- century American democracy, which overwhelmed the idealism traditi- onally upheld in American society. Melville's can be said to be of the same kind with the two, but more religiously-minded and metaphysically pure. Melville's immediate problem in Moby-Dick is to renounce the Christian orthodoxy and to replace the traditional Christian God with the one more to his liking. Needless to say, this revolutionary and anti-Christian view is to be expressed through his artistic indlirection A stultifying problem that Ahab-Melville encounters before reaching "the Truth" is ambiguity of things, which proved harder to break than piercing "the pasteboard mask of visible objects." "The American need to be at once a pragmatic Lockean and a tormented saint" can be seen in Moby-Dick. The tormented saint-Ahab and the pragmatic Lockean-Ishmael, the two aspects of Melville, are emblenatic of the two currents in the nineteenth-century American character and society; one that emphasizes the ideal aspect of the American life and the other representing practicality that came to dominate the business world which is the American society itself. The death of Ahab might mean that of American idealism.
